Chapter 33: She’s okay?

**Elliot’s Point of view**

I am tired of being in the hospital. My wound is slowly healing and I don't need to stay in the hospital for observation, but my mother refuses to let me leave this room. She told my father that it was to make sure I was okay, but from the look on her face, I know it’s to stop me from seeing Alice.
Leo assures me that she is fine but I would rather see her with my own eyes. The last time I talked to her she didn't remember me and just thinking about it makes my heart breaks again.
*"But I tell you she recognized me!"* Says Leo wearily. *"I assure you she's fine."*
*"Yes, but you said that the link was cut and that she disappeared."*
*"Yes, and I also said that Cassiopeia told me she woke up. You can believe me for Goddess sake!"* He says, annoyed.
I sigh. *"Excuse me. It's just that I was so afraid of losing her. I think I would have gone crazy."* I say in a small voice.
*"I know.*" He says in a low tone.
We stay silent for a while, enjoying the quietness that surrounds us. As for the last 72 hours, I can't help but wonder again if Alice is okay, which makes Leo growl with annoyance.
*"By the way, she apologized. She said that even though we used our Alpha tone she shouldn't have left like that."*
*"We used our Alpha tone?"* I ask, surprised. How come I didn't realize that?
*"Uh, yeah. It was me, I didn't mean to. I just didn't want her to leave and that's how it happened."* He says, embarrassed.
*"So it's your fault if she ran away like that?"* I say through clenched teeth. If I could have talked to her longer, I would have convinced her to let me go with her. And none of this would have happened. She wouldn't have been hurt.
*"That's not true. Someone decided to kill us and if it hadn't been tonight they would have just postponed their plans."* Leo says.
Someone knocks on my door and my father enters. "You're not asleep?"
I shake my head. "It's not late and I've had enough rest. Tell me you'll get me out of here." I say, pleading with my eyes.
He throws his head back and laughs. "Son, if I do that, your mother will have my head hung over the fireplace."
"And couldn't you try to convince her?"
He huffs. "I've already tried but she won't listen."
I sigh. She's still afraid I'll run to Alice and I can't blame her. I've already made several escape plans that unfortunately are useless. Even if I could get out of this hospital, I still can't get to her.
"Anyway, I have some news." Says my dad. "Alpha Jack called. Alice woke up and she has no amnesia and doesn't seem to have any particular problem. She should be up and about in a day or two and as soon as she is, we will all go to the Castle to see the King."
I had completely forgotten that he had summoned us. Not to come to the King when he summons you is a serious crime, but given what has happened he was kind enough to postpone.
"Has Alice seen the driver?" I ask.
He shakes his head. "No. We don't know much about who tried to kill you. Analysis of Alice's phone showed that the texts came from a pre-paid phone, so it's untraceable. They made sure we couldn't find them."
I sigh. Another dead end. This is getting annoying. Every time our enemy reveals himself and attacks us, every time we think he's leaving clues, and every time we find nothing. Nothing at all.
"At least now we have proof that the Blues aren't behind this." I say.
He frowns. "What do you mean?"
"Well, whoever tried to kill Derek, Alice, and I must be the one behind the rogue’s attacks. And I don't see Alpha John running over his daughter just to throw suspicion off."
"I'm not so sure about that." I start to protest but he cuts me off. "I'm not saying he ran over his daughter. I'm just saying that yes, someone did try to kill you, but it may have nothing to do with the rogue’s attacks. It could be two different people."
I can't believe it. After all this, he still thinks it's the Blues trying to take over our territory.
"You have to admit that the timing is strange. Just as we start to beet the rogues, the three future Alphas get attacked."
"That's true, but let's not jump to conclusions." He says in a firm and unambiguous tone.
I can see by the hard look on his face that it's not worth trying to convince him and I once again thank Alice's idea of asking for help directly to the King.
Eventually, he leaves and as I begin to drift off to sleep, someone knocks gently on my door.
"Come in."
The door opens to a person I have wanted to talk to for several days.
"Good evening Grandpa George."
