Chapter 56: Arrest

**Elliot’s Point of view**

So close. So fucking close.
As we head to the Castle prison to visit the captured rogue, I glance over to the side, where Alice is walking in this t-shirt well too short.
Several of the guards that accompany us keep looking at her long bare legs, with obvious desire. A warning grunt makes them look away and Alice winks at me.
I can't believe it! My possessiveness amuses her!
The chief guard explains that the rogue did not try to flee and surrendered immediately. He promised to say all that he knows but only to Alice.
We finally enter the basement and to my surprise, most of the dungeons are occupied.
The guards take us into a corridor that seems to go even deeper down to an armored door. The chief opens it with his fingerprint and we enter a large room with a cage in the center.
A very dirty man with short brown hair is sitting wisely on the bed with his hands on his knees.
The moment he sees Alice, he jumps up and throws himself on the bars.
"Alpha Alice Crane! Thank you so much for coming!"
She blinks, surprised. "Well, I'm here. You asked to see me, right?"
He nods and speaks very quickly. "Yes, yes I did. I already tried to see you but since the other girl hit you with the car, we couldn't talk."
I meet her wide eyes. Did he see the accident?
"Are you the one who's been texting me?" She asks.
"Yes absolutely. I didn't choose to be a rogue and I was recruited by force. I don't support what they do and I'm trying to stop it."
"Did you see the accident?" I ask.
He turns his head toward me. "Yes. I was hiding to make sure Alpha Alice would come alone and I saw a girl come out of a building. She hid and walked quietly to her car. At first, I thought it was a backup so I got scared and didn't come out. I preferred to stay hidden until everyone got out of the way but when Alpha Alice was in the middle of the road, the girl sped off and hit her."
"This girl, can you describe her?" Asks Alice.
"I can even tell you where she is."
We look at each other in shock.
I pursed my lips. "And if you tell us everything from the beginning, uh..."
"Curtis." He says with a smile.
"Go ahead Curtis, we're listening." Says Alice.
"I was banned from my pack because I rejected the advances of the Beta's daughter. I was alone, looking for a new pack but no one wanted me. The r ogues finally found me and said they were putting together an army to build a new order and they didn't give me a choice." He says, lowering his head.
"Alpha Rudy ordered us to attack the three Moon packs without telling us why. One day I overheard a phone conversation where he was talking to someone he called 'my King'. I was so scared but I realized as the conversation went on that it was not King Matthew but an Alpha with a powerful pack."
"Wait." I cut him off. "Are you telling us that someone is trying to take the King's place?"
He nods. "I was there during one of the attacks and I saw Alpha Alice's wolf, specifically the mark of the General. I knew it was you I had to go to, to warn you of the threat."
"Curtis, I don't understand." Says Alice as she paced. "You said someone wants to take the King's place but what does that have to do with our packs?"
He raises an eyebrow. "Isn't it obvious? For power. I don't know how powerful his pack is, but I don't think he can attack the Castle, even with the help of the rogues. The first step is to take your strength and warriors and then attack the King."
I shake my head. "And that's why you attacked Prince Benjamin tonight."
He nods. "I heard Rudy talking about assassinating the Prince but tonight I'm not sure if it was an order from him."
Alice frowns. "What do you mean?"
"We've been near the Castle for a few days, waiting for orders when the girl who hit you with her car came out of nowhere. She told us to attack the Prince tonight, Rudy's orders. The others looked no further and we did it."
I stiffen. "Are you saying that the girl who tried to kill Alice is here?"
He nodded. "Yes. I mean she was where we were hiding an hour ago."
"Where?"
"About thirty minutes north of here."
We thank him and run outside as fast as we can. Just as I'm about to shift to follow the guards, Alice stops me.
"No. I feel like we're going the wrong way."
I sigh. "I don't think she's been sitting there waiting for us either, but we don't have any other leads."
She paces. "Think about it. You walk up to a large group of rogues, alone, to launch an offensive that wasn't ordered by your Alpha. They are rushing to kill the Prince. What are you doing? Where are you going?"
I huff. "To make sure they got the job done." I straighten my head. "Goddess she can't be far."
She nods. "And what do you do when you see they didn't make it?"
I gasp. "I'll finish the job."
Without wasting another second, we run to the hospital where Ben is being treated. We find guards on the floor and the door of his room is wide open.
We rush inside and throw ourselves on the assassin who was holding a pillow over Ben's face, unconscious.
I hold her down while Alice goes to get some medics and something to tie her up.
She returns a few seconds later with silver handcuffs and passes them to the assailant who is lying on her stomach.
Once her hands are tied behind her back, I turn her over ruthlessly and hear Alice gasp. I turn to her and see that she is speechless.
"Rose?"
