Chapter 108

She raised her hand up to touch his cheek as her tear filled eyes grew sad. “If that’s what you want, yes.”
He cupped her face and wiped a slowly falling tear away with his thumb. “I do and I need you to look after Casey. Tell her I died from a rogue attack.”
Sasha sighed, before nodding. “Okay.”
She hugged him tight and he clung to her for a few minutes, before leaning back.
“I do love you girls, all of you, very much.” He tucked her hair behind her ear. “You three were the root of all of your mother’s and mine problems. She thought I always treated you guys better than she thought I should.”
Sasha blinked and more tears streamed down her face. “My mother was so heartbroken.”
He nodded. “I know.”
She leaned against him again and he rubbed her back.
“You girls will be just fine without me. You will have Sterling and your mates.”
“But what about Casey? She doesn’t have a mate yet.”
He sighed and laid his cheek on the top of her head as his chest constricted painfully again.
“She will have you guys to guide her.”
“There’s no convincing you to choose life, is there?”
He closed his eyes. “No.”
She bit back a sob. “I love you.”
He hugged her tighter. “I love you, too, Sasha and I know you will be just fine with your mate’s, brother’s and father’s guidance.”
She took a deep breath, before climbing out of the car. “Three days before I change my mind.”
“I’ll be there,” he promised her.
She shifted and within seconds, had lifted into the sky. She flew rapidly towards Deegan while he tapped his fingers on the dashboard as he thought about how to spend his last three days. He could spend it doing something he had always wanted to do or he could spend it completely obliterated. Hmm.. was this really even a choice? He started down the street again and twenty minutes later he exited, following the signs to a place called the Lava Lagoon Restaurant. He walked in and the maitre’d rolled his eyes.
“Table for one, sir?,” he asked.
Slonsky nodded. “Please.”
He followed the rude man back to a corner table shrouded in darkness. The maitre’ d slammed the menu on the table and walked away. Slonsky shrugged, sat down and picked up the menu. After a few minutes passed, a woman approached his table. He put the menu down and she smiled at him.
“Good evening, Sir. My name is Joy and I’ll be your waitress tonight. What can I get you to drink?”
“I’ll take a bourbon whiskey.”
“I’ll bring that right out.”
“Can you also already put my order in? I would like a medium rare steak, swimming in sauteed mushrooms with the couscous and broccoli casserole on the side.”
She took the menu from him. “Good choice, sugar. I’ll get that right out for you.”
He watched her walk away and the sway of her hips made him ponder if he should find a partner during his last few days. She brought back his drink and he caught her hand when she turned to leave. She looked down at where his hand gripped her wrist, before meeting his eyes.
“Is there something I can get for you, sir?”
“I’m Donald, Joy.”
“It’s nice to meet you.” She tugged on her wrist. “Is there something else I can get for you, sir?”
“Donald. Do you have a mate?”
“I.. I umm.. I don’t,” she answered hesitantly.
“Would you maybe want to do something after your shift?”
“I.. umm. Have someone.”
His finger stroked her fluttering pulse. “You just said you didn’t have a mate.”
“I don’t. He was murdered, but I have been with someone for a few days and I don’t sleep around like that.”
He let her go instantly. “I apologize. I just.. Never mind.”
She walked away and he picked up his drink, swirling it around in his glass. He downed it and moments later, Joy was bringing another glass.
“You look sad, Donald,” she said softly. “Do you want to talk?”
“I just recently lost both my fated mate and my chosen person. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life and in three days, my life will be over.”
She stared at him wide eyed. A shadow fell across the table and she jumped.
“Joy, bring us the bottle, will you?”
Slonsky lowered his head. “Sterling.”
He sat at the table across from him. “Hello, Slonsky.”
Joy dashed away as Slonsky studied Sterling’s face.
“How are my kids?,” Sterling asked, tapping his fingers on the table.
Slonsky shrugged. “I have been gone for a week. Have you been home since you left?”
“No.”
“I saw Sasha today. She is sad, but okay.”
Sterling straightened, falling silent as Joy poured him a drink and refilled Slonsky’s glass, before closing the bottle. She left the table again.
“Why is she sad?”
“Because she has agreed to take my life in three days.”
Sterling narrowed his eyes on Slonsky. “You would put that on her?”
Slonsky’s shoulders slumped. “I don’t know what else to do.”
“Not make our daughter kill you.”
Slonsky’s head shot up so he could stare at Sterling. “Our daughter?”
Sterling tossed back his drink and poured himself another. “How many is that for you?”
“3.”
He tossed back his drink and poured another one. He raised it in the middle of the table and Slonsky clinked his glass against Sterling’s.
“They are our daughters aren’t they? I saw how you were with them while they grew up.”
Slonsky eyed him. “What’s gotten into you? A week ago, you wanted to kill me.”
Sterling turned his head to watch somebody and Slonsky turned his head. Joy was laughing nervously as she talked to people at another table. The men sitting there were clearly flirting with her and her smile was slightly uneasy. She hurried away from the table and Sterling got up to go over to the men. He said something lowly to them and they all paled. Sterling came back and sat at the table. Slonsky raised an eyebrow.
“So, did it help?”
“Did what help?”
“The woman you have been with?”
Sterling shrugged, trying to be nonchalant. “It was a temporary thing. So, where’s Casey?”
“With the trio.”
“What are you doing out?”
“On assignment.”
Sterling laughed. “Can I ask you something?”
“Sure.”
“Do you think you will ever forgive yourself?”
“No.”
“You should. Odanya wouldn’t want you to hate yourself.”
“And what about you? Do you hate me?”
Sterling leaned across the table towards him.
“Not really. I’m glad she knew she was loved by both of us, before she died,” he said, starting to slur his words.
Joy brought his entree to the table. Sterling tossed back another drink and encouraged him to, too. Before he had finished his food, they had downed two bottles of bourbon and their conversation had turned to lighthearted conversation. Joy brought the check over and Sterling smiled at her.
“Charge my card and take a thousand dollar tip for yourself,” he told her.
Her eyes widened. “Are- are you sure, Your Majesty?”
“Yes. Bring the receipt to me so I can sign it, so nobody thinks you're stealing.”
While she went to do his bidding, Sterling leaned across the table towards Slonsky. “Do you want to get out of here?”
Slonsky stared at him. “What do you mean?”
Sterling met his eyes. “You know exactly what I’m asking. I want to fuck and right now, I want you at my mercy.”
Slonsky just stared at him. Joy brought the receipt back and Sterling signed it before standing. He wobbled on his feet and Joy helped to balance him.
“Can I help you get somewhere?,” she asked him.
“No. I’ll get him,” Slonsky said, getting shakily to his feet.
He held out his arm to Sterling who clung to him. They stumbled out of the restaurant and went to Slonsky’s car. He helped Sterling in and got him buckled.
“Where are we going?”
“I have a hotel room at Mosley’s Inn down the street. Room 103,” Sterling answered.
Slonsky got in the car and slowly drove down the road, trying to focus on getting there, but he had a hard time figuring out which street to stay on, since he was seeing three. He helped Sterling up to his room and he tumbled onto the bed, before struggling to sit up.
“Are you staying?”
Slonsky stared at him. “I’m not gay, Sterling.”
Sterling reached up to pull Slonsky down. They fell back on the bed and Sterling rolled on top of him. He kissed him and when Slonsky didn’t resist he stuck his tongue into his mouth. Sterling slowly unbuttoned Slonsky’s shirt, giving him ample time to tell him to stop. He undid his pants, kissing down Slonsky’s chest as he pulled his pants off. Sterling got to his feet and disrobed while Slonsky watched him. He stroked his own cock as Slonsky’s eyes followed his hand’s movements. He swallowed hard before meeting Sterling’s eyes.
“What do I do?”
“Turn around and get on your knees.”
Slonsky followed his directions and Sterling’s hands moved over his back, before he spread his ass cheeks. Sterling spit on Slonsky’s asshole, before easing a finger into him. Slonsky moaned and pushed back against his hand.
“Have you been with a man before, Donald?”
Slonsky didn’t respond, making Sterling chuckle. “I was with a few men before I got with Odanya,” Sterling confided.
He pulled his finger out to spit on his hand and lubed his cock up. He put himself at Slonsky’s entrance and rubbed the head of his cock against him. Slonsky pushed back against him again, making his tip slide into him. Sterling groaned and let his hands grip Slonsky’s waist. He pulled him back as he pushed himself forward.
“Goddess, you’re tight.”
Sterling wrapped his arm around his waist as he thrust inside of him and started to stroke Slonsky’s hard cock. Slonsky started to move his hips, riding Sterling.
“Mhmm, yes. Just like that.”
He moved faster and Slonsky trembled. “Sterling..”
He ran his lips down Slonsky’s back. “Donald.”
“I’m about to cum,” he cried out.
Sterling stroked him faster as he thrusted harder. Warm, sticky semen erupted on his hand and Slonsky collapsed on the bed. Sterling pushed his leg up to push in harder until he orgasmed deep inside of Slonsky. He slowly pulled out groaning, keeping Slonsky’s cheeks spread to watch his cum seep slowly out of his asshole. Slonsky shifted on the bed to get more comfortable. He climbed into bed next to Slonsky and looked at him, before leaning down to kiss him again.
“I don’t want you to die,” he murmured softly against Slonsky’s lips. “We can fix this and be friends. It’s just going to take time. I forgive you.”
Slonsky looked away. “This isn't about your forgiveness.”
Sterling moved down on the bed and wrapped himself around Slonsky, kissing his neck softly. “Let me heal you, Donald. And in return you can heal me, too.”
