Chapter 39

Aiden’s hands moved over her body and she smiled in her sleep. His hands smoothed the teddy around her ass, before he moved her hair off her neck to kiss it.
“Wake up. I need you,” he growled in her ear.
She smirked and refused to open her eyes. “What do you need me for, my king?,” she whispered seductively.
He pushed the blankets down and pulled her teddy up exposing her ass to him. He rolled over on top of her and his skin slid over hers. He moved between her legs and pushed against her core. His hard on pressed against her and she moaned softly. He leaned down to bite her shoulder as his boxers created friction that drove her insane with desire. She pushed back against him.
“Two days and I pray you are mine.”
She buried her face in the pillows. “Aiden, I want to mate.”
He groaned and pulled back slightly. His fingers entered her wet pussy and he stopped moving. His fingers moved around inside of her as if he was searching for something.
“Hmm..”
She looked over her shoulder at him. “What’s wrong?”
“Have you been masturbating?”
“No. Why?”
“You feel different.”
“What are you getting at?”
“I don’t know.”
He pulled away from her. “I have to go. I will see you later.”
She got up on her knees. “Aiden! STOP!”
He ignored her. She scrambled out of bed and ran to the bathroom door. She opened it to stare at him.
“Tell me what’s wrong.”
He glared at her as he did his belt up, refusing to answer her. He stormed past her to grab his boots. She stood in his way and looked up at him.
“Aiden-”
“I have to go to work, Sasha,” he bit out.
She growled as he pushed past her again and headed to the door.
“The last time you left like this, I almost died,” she murmured softly.
He froze and she could tell Mikhail was fighting with him. She walked over to him and put her hand on his shoulder.
“Talk to me, Aiden. What is it?”
He shrugged her off. “I’ll tell you when you tell me what is going on in my castle.” He turned to face her. “Do not leave. I need space for a few hours so I can think.”
Her hand fisted by her side and she pulled back. “Okay…..”
She began to back away, but he grabbed her wrist and tugged her against his body. He tilted her chin to search her face.
“Are you sleeping with someone?”
Her mouth dropped open. “No. I have been with you almost this entire time. You, Gregory or Lani. Why are you asking me that?”
“You feel different.” He dragged a hand down his face, before pecking her lips. “I will see you later, okay?”
She gripped his wrist. “Do you promise?”
“Yes.”
“Okay.”
He left and the door shut softly behind him. She went back to the bed and threw herself down on it. What in the hell was that about? She rolled over onto her back and slid her fingers inside of herself. Her back arched at the intensity of the pleasure that immediately ripped through her.
“Oh.”
She rolled over, trapping her arm under her. She began moving her hips up and down, riding her hand. Her other hand reached for his pillow and his scent immediately invaded her nostrils.
“Aiden! Oh.”
Her legs began to shake and she grew wetter. She cried out again when her pussy tightened around her fingers. She collapsed on the bed, panting.
‘What’s different?,’ a sleepy voice asked in her head.
She froze. Who the fuck is that? She remained still, trying to reach out to the voice, but the fleeting feeling of not being alone was gone.
“Fuck! What is going on with me?,” she asked out loud.
She slid her fingers back inside of herself and felt all around. She wished that she knew what she felt like before, but she had never used her fingers on herself before. She sighed and got up. She changed into shorts and a tank top, before walking out. She exited the castle and headed toward the woods. She stopped to smell the roses on the bush about a hundred yards from the woods and sighed. They reminded her so much of Ana and that thought made her think of Aiden.
She knew she needed to tell him about the death threat. She knew she needed to tell him about Tiffany, but how could she broach the subject without looking like a liar herself. She turned back towards the path and her attention was drawn by a red lizard on the ground. She eyed it before kneeling in front of it. She reached out nervously and stroked it’s back. Electricity moved up her arm and she blinked rapidly a few times.
“Well, that’s interesting.” She tilted her head at the skink and laid her hand flat on the ground. “Would you like to hang out with me today? I could use a friend.”
The lizard slowly moved into her hand and she set it on her shoulder. She walked through the woods silently for a bit, taking the relaxing atmosphere to try to think of a plan. After about an hour, she heard screams coming from the right. She made her way in that direction, following the cries. She entered a clearing with a small creek running through it and saw a red fox caught in a trap. She hurried to its side and opened the trap carefully. It licked her hand, before limping away. She sank to the ground and wrapped her arms around her knees. The skink moved to her knee and the electricity coursed through her body again. She smiled at it softly and stroked her fingers over its back.
“My.. umm.. Boyfriend and I got into a fight this morning,” she confided as she stared into the water. “He thinks I’m cheating on him. I’m not.” She sighed. “He knows I’m hiding something. He probably thinks that it really is that I'm cheating now. If I were to tell him the truth, he would hate me. If I were to tell him that I was sent here to kill him, he would kill me without a second thought and I wouldn’t even blame him.” She stroked the lizard again. “I want to tell him that was why I was going to be executed. That I told my mother I wasn’t going to kill him and she labeled me a traitor.”
She fell silent as she stared at the slow moving water in the creek. “How do you tell the man you love that? How do you tell him that your mother didn’t trust you to complete the task so she sent more than one person to take him out?” She closed her eyes and leaned back against the tree behind her, still petting the lizard, a small smile playing around her lips. “He is the most amazing man. He is so kind and fierce. He took my little sister on immediately. I couldn’t ask for a better mate. When I asked my mother what he had done that was so bad that he deserved to be murdered, she couldn’t answer.”
Her eyes snapped open, lit with anger and possessiveness. “My other sister, Tiffany, is one of the ones that was sent here to kill him. She is so determined to get close to him, but he is mine,” she growled. “I know she was behind the plot last night with the stew. Carla was in on it. I am really hoping it was just those two. Kalani and I are trying to figure out a plan to end her.” She laid her cheek on her knee, facing the lizard. “I was attacked a week ago and I told him I didn’t remember. When I told him, I didn’t, but I have been dreaming about it.”
She let out a breath, watching the lizard almost shiver as she passed her fingers over it.
“I remember what Malcolm did to me,” she murmured, her voice devoid of emotion. “I hope he never wakes up. I hope he dies in his coma. I don’t want Aiden to have to kill his beta. Not over me. I’m not worth it.”
The lizard tongue flicked out and slid across her skin, leaving a trail of wetness and energy there. She giggled.
“That feels so good. You make me want to go to him.” She fell silent for a few minutes. “But he’s mad at me and doesn’t want to be around me.” She scratched lightly under its chin. “I love him so much. I can’t imagine my life without him. I hope my dreams about our deaths don’t come true. I hope I can save him, because I don’t want Aiden to die. Mikhail will hate me.”
Its tongue slithered across her skin and the overwhelming need to see Aiden made her lift the reptile up and set it on the ground. She petted it once more, smiling.
“Sorry to dump all of this on you and run, but I really need to see him. Maybe we’ll meet again.”
She sprinted off through the trees with the only thing on her mind being to find and make up with her mate.
My Mate's a What?
