Chapter 83

Sasha
Sasha was forced to watch them drag him past her as she was restrained by her mother. No amount of lashing out or screaming made her mother let her go. When the men had entered the building, she was forced inside. They veered off at the fork to the right while the men took her mate to the left. She swung on her mother and her fist connected with her chin. Her mother let her go and she started to sprint down the hallway back the way they had come. The sound of a cell being flung open made her stop and slowly turn around.
“Aja…”
Her mother pressed the dagger deeper into Kalani’s neck and a drop of blood rolled down her throat. Sasha growled.
“Let her go.”
She lifted a silk bag out of her pocket and pressed some of the crystals into Kalani’s nose. She staggered a little before leaning against the cell bars. She closed her eyes and a tear fell from her eye.
“Galina,” she whispered.
Sasha flew across the space between them to claw and punch at her mother. “YOU MOTHER FUCKING BITCH! I HATE YOU! DIE!”
Lily whimpered, drawing Sasha’s attention. A dagger hovered in front of her face and she backed off of her mother.
“Mom, please. Don’t do this. You’ve already taken everything from me. Just let her go.” She sank to her knees and clutched at her mother’s pants. “Please, you’ve won. Please, I’m sorry.”
Anastasia laughed. “Not yet I haven’t.”
“What more do you want?,” Sasha asked.
She pushed Sasha backwards and she let herself fall on her butt.
“I want you all dead. I want your brother dead. I want your mates dead. I want to bathe in all of your blood. I want so much, you trash human, that I will never be able to describe to you exactly what I want to do to you.” She gestured to them. “Take them to the stocks.” She smirked. “All of them.”
Sasha lunged at her. “No!”
She raked her fingernails down her mother’s face. Her mother reared back and slapped Sasha so hard she felt her nose break while blood came from her split lip. Kalani growled. Her mother grabbed Sasha’s hair.
“Take them first. I will bring her out in a few minutes. Feel free to start with those two.”
One of the men grabbed Lily’s arm before hollering out in pain and letting her go. Anastasia rolled her eyes.
“I almost forgot about your pesky dragon, Sasha,” she snarled.
She stormed over to Lily and threw a handful of the crystals in her face. She swooned and Sasha spun on the man who had taken her mother’s place, restraining her. She kneed him in the crotch and dashed towards Lily. She swung on her mother and energy slammed into her, throwing her into the wall. It cocooned her against the wall and got tighter with every move she made until she couldn’t breathe. She clawed at her throat and was thrown across the room into the other wall. She bit her lip to keep from crying out. She would not give that evil woman the satisfaction. The men dragged her sisters out as her mother approached her.
“All you had to do was kill your mate, girl. Then this would have been all over.”
Sasha glared at her. “Did you know he was my mate when you gave me the orders?”
Her mother rolled her eyes and kneed her in the chest. Bones cracked and pain ravaged her body. She slumped against the wall, struggling to breathe in. Sasha tried to push herself up but her arm gave out and she landed face down on the ground. She rolled towards the wall and used it to get up off the floor. She panted and cut her eyes at her mother.
“Go to hell, bitch.”
“I will kill your sisters and your mate in front of you, before you die,” she snarled.
Sasha met her eyes. “Then I will have accomplished the one thing you couldn’t. I will die with the people I love the most.”
Her mother screamed in anger and slammed her back against the wall. More bones broke and she defiantly silenced her whimpers.
“You have no idea about the people you love dying, but you will by the time I’m done with you.”
She grabbed Sasha by the hair and pulled her behind her as she left that area of the dungeon. Sasha closed her eyes and began to recite the healing spells in her head. She missed Irina and she hoped that by some miracle she would survive the ice crystals. Suddenly, she was dropped and four people each grabbed a limb. Her eyes opened and she glared up at the men holding her. They began to carry her down a long hallway and she let them until the scent of cedar walnuts wafted towards her. Aiden. She raised her head and saw him the cell a few down. She began to struggle and thrash.
“I thought Madame Anastasia said she broke her.”
“She must have lied. This one was always hard to break,” the man holding her left arm growled.
She rolled her body to the right, before throwing herself aggressively to the left. She hit the ground and quickly scrambled to her feet. She darted around the men to where Aiden stood behind the bars. She gripped the bars and tears poured down her face.
“You shouldn’t have come here. You should have stayed where you were safe.”
He cupped her face. “I love you, Ash.”
She pressed her lips against his. “I love you, too, Aiden. I’m sorry.”
She was yanked backwards, but Aiden put his hands around hers on the bar. He pulled her closer and kissed her. Her body heated and she felt an almost solid ball slide down her throat. Her mind expanded and she collapsed sobbing on the ground.
“Aiden, no,” she whispered almost silently.
She was dragged backward and she met his eyes. “Now, you know my answer,” he called out after her.
She thrashed, screaming. “NOT LIKE THIS!”
He closed his eyes. “You were always the best part of my world.”
Sasha was thrown down a small set of stairs. She rolled to a stop at her mother’s feet who was smirking down at her.
“Welcome to the end, ‘daughter’.”
Mikhail rose up in her mind, watching Anastasia.
‘I promise you, my queen, when this is over, she will be the one that lays dead at your feet.’
