Chapter 59

Sasha
Sasha leaned down to check on their egg for the millionth time that day. Aiden had locked their egg in a clear box surrounded by his fire. He had the clan witch put a spell around it that made the box too heavy to be lifted by anybody that had ill intentions towards their egg. Her fingers moved over the box, thoroughly enjoying the tingles that his fire sent moving over her skin. She kissed the top of it, humming softly. Pressure in her head had her pausing. It didn’t hurt, but it was almost like something was seeking entrance. She relaxed her mind and a warmth immediately filled it.
‘Aja? Are you there? Hello?’
‘Lani?’
‘Oh my goddess, it works! Can you hear me alright?’
Sasha giggled. ‘This isn’t like a phone, sweetie. You're inside my brain. What’s up?’
‘I was wondering if you wanted to come practice my powers with me?’
‘Sure. Where are you at?’
‘In Aiden’s private garden.’
‘Okay. Let me get a guard for Aiden or Sasha junior and I will be right down.’
‘Already done. See you in a few.’
A soft knock on the door had her shaking her head, amused that her sister had just assumed that she would come down to assist. She pressed a quick kiss to the box.
“Mummy will be back, baby. I love you.”
She walked over to the door and pulled it open. Emile stood on the other side, grinning. Sasha raised an eyebrow at him.
“I see our sweet, little, innocent princess has been so kind as to let you out of her love dungeon. How are you feeling, champ?”
He laughed. “I would be lying if I said I wasn’t sore.” He smirked. “But she’s more sore than I am, so who’s the real winner?”
Sasha rolled her eyes. “That is way too much information that I didn’t want or need.”
His sassy smirk turned into a proud one. “I hope we have an egg.”
Sasha smiled, patting his cheek. “I hope you guys do, too. I heard about Ana’s aspirations to be a teacher. She is really good with kids.”
“She is amazing. I’ve always known that.” His grin widened. “I’m glad to see you finally leaving your room. I promise to protect your egg with my life.”
“You better or your soreness won’t come from pleasure.”
She skipped past him as soon as she finished her threat. Her feet moved gracefully over the stairs that led down to the royal’s private garden. Ana, Sherri and Kalani were all waiting for her. She sighed.
“What are we doing?”
“I’m not exactly sure, but Galina wanted me to practice on Sherri.”
“Why Sherri?”
“Because she thinks that we can use her DNA the easiest.”
“Meaning?”
“Meaning that it is the easiest to morph to my liking.”
Sherri gave her a worried look. “Am I going to end up with warts or a tail growing out of my forehead?”
Kalani shrugged. “I don’t know. Maybe.”
“Is it too late to chicken out?”
Sasha giggled at the crestfallen look on her little sister’s face. “Yep. Should have done it already if you were going to.”
“Well, shit. Alright then, I guess I’m as ready as I’ll ever be. Just try to put any extra body parts where they are supposed to go.”
Kalani clapped her hands excitedly. “Yay. Okay. Sasha just sit there with Ana and if it seems like I’m in trouble, step in.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Sasha made herself comfortable on the bench and leaned back. Her sister moved to kneel in front of her. She pointed at the ground a few inches from her.
“Sherri?”
Sherri sat in front of Kalani, crossed legged. Kalani leaned forward and positioned her mouth less than an half an inch from Sherri’s. She drew in a breath and a mist- like shadow came from Sherri’s mouth. Kalani’s eyes closed and Sherri whimpered. The minutes dragged on and Sasha moved to the edge of the bench, watching her sister’s face for signs of distress. An hour later, Kalani’s eyes popped open. She leaned into Sherri more, before breathing out. The shadow rapidly flew back into Sherri. In the middle of her essence, a dark blue wavering flame moved into her, too.
Sherri tried to pull away, but Kalani fisted her shirt in her hand and yanked her forward. Their lips met and power swirled around them, cocooning them together. Sherri started screaming and Sasha reached for Kalani. The energy around the two girls on the ground shoved Sasha back. Kalani’s power grew stronger and a shrill scream came from Sherri, before she sagged against Kalani, sobbing. Galina’s reddish eyes turned back to Kalani’s green eyes. She wrapped her arms around Sherri, rubbing her back and cooing softly to her. Sasha hesitantly reached back out to them. Her hand easily passed through the lingering energy to land on Sherri’s skin. She was burning up and she was rapidly getting coated in a fine layer of sweat.
“Lani, what did you do to her?”
“I don’t know. Neither does Galina.”
Sherri looked up at Sasha miserably. “I feel like I’m dying. I’m so hot.”
Ana hovered near them anxiously. “Should we take her to the doctor?”
Irina pushed forward, taking control. “NO DOCTORS! Ana help Kalani take Sherri to Shaun’s house. Make her comfortable and stay with her until this passes.”
“Yes, Sasha.”
Ana’s wings came out and she picked Sherri up with Kalani’s help. Seconds later, they were flying out of the garden. Irina paced inside of her head.
‘Can we see Aiden? As much as I hate to admit it, I miss the big doofus.’
Sasha smiled. ‘He’s growing on you. I told you he was a good guy.’
‘Whatever. Can we just go see him?,’ she huffed.
‘Yeah. Let’s go.’
She started jogging up the stairs, heading to his office. She was entering the short hallway that led to the hallway where she knew he was working that day. Someone grabbed her arm, pulling her to a stop. She jerked away, spinning on the person. Ethan backed her up against the wall, pinning her wrists above her head and she gulped.
“E- Ethan? What are you doing?”
“I wanted to talk to you.”
She struggled against his grip. “Let me go.”
He leaned down to inhale her scent. “You always smelled so good,” he growled. “Sasha, I really do love you. I know you are his mate and you have an egg now, but I want you to come away with me.”
Her heart thudded against her rib cage. She shook her head.
“Oh, Ethan,” she muttered sadly. “I never wanted to hurt you, but I was never in love with you.”
His lips moved over her face. She turned her head as he went to kiss her lips. He pulled back angrily.
“How can you say that?,” he hissed. “We were together for four years. It was just me and you. I know you felt something for me.”
“You’re right we were, but I was always in love with someone else. I was never yours to have. I have love for you, but I am not in love with you.”
He hit the wall beside her head. She didn’t move a muscle.
“Then why the fuck did you stay with me?”
“Because I wasn’t sure if I would ever meet him. I wasn’t sure if he would even want me. I had no intention of letting me or Lani come to Terra Mysterium. I knew I was going to win. I busted my ass to ensure that I did. I thought that we could be happy, but I found my mate, Ethan. I would have settled for you. I would have been happy, but I wouldn’t have been complete with you. I am with him. ”
He glared at her.
“It was him, wasn’t it? You were always in love with him. Of course, it was,” he answered his own question for her.
“I won’t apologize for loving him, Ethan. There is nothing wrong with how I feel about him.”
He cupped her cheek and she saw the pain in his eyes. “How? You didn’t even know him.”
“Do you remember that day you helped Tiffany try to drown Kalani?”
“I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have done that.”
“No, you shouldn’t have. That was the day I fell in love with him. I started dreaming about him and the way he made me feel. He was always the man of my dreams.”
“Sasha, please. I love you.”
She sighed. “You only think you do.”
“No. I know I do.”
“When you find your mate, you will see. She will show you what true love is, just like Aiden has shown me. Now, please, let me go. I want to go see Aiden.”
He stared at her for a second, before rubbing himself against her. Panic rose and she had a hard time drawing in air. Oh, Goddess, would Aiden believe her about what happened or would he just accuse her of cheating again?
“Ethan, stop! He’s going to kill you. Maybe even me. You don’t understand.”
He glared down at her. “Mine,” he growled as he stormed off.
“I am his,” she called after him.
Her hands fisted by her side as she tried to calm her anxiety. When her heart stopped trying to leap out of her chest, she rounded the corner, only to come to an immediate stop while her hands got sweaty.
“Aiden,” she whispered, as fear swallowed her whole.
