Chapter 89
Lukas
Sasha looked around the room at everyone. “So, what happened exactly while we were gone?”
“Which time? When you were at Tursum or the three days you spent inside your father’s head?”
Her mouth dropped open. “What? Three days?” Aiden nodded. “Shit. That explains why you are all in here.”
Lily shifted on his lap and he rubbed her back. “Quiet down, please. Let her sleep.”
Sasha nodded and opened links to everyone. Lukas hated group links. It amplified the link and made his head pound, but he would take this over waking her up. He ran a finger down her face. She was so perfect and had no idea. Sasha cleared her throat and he glared at her.
‘Can I not have a moment to be in awe of my mate?,’ he growled.
She smiled softly. ‘Yes, but could you pick a better time? We need to know if Slonsky is dead.’
Kalani frowned at her. ‘What does he have to do with this?,’ she asked.
‘Do you remember me saying that a witch spelled dad, Eis, mom and Odanya?’ Kalani nodded. ‘It was that fucker.’
She growled and turned her head to look at Gregory. ‘Please, tell me that you killed him.’
He sighed. ‘I can’t tell you that. I don’t know who that is, but your team might know.’
Sasha stood up and immediately wobbled. Aiden scooped her up. ‘Not yet, baby. Let us get you some food and we can have everyone else come here. You can talk while you eat.’
She leaned against him and jealousy filled Lukas. He looked back down at Lily. Would she ever be that way with him? She whimpered in her sleep and moved closer to his stomach. He groaned when his body reacted. He put his arm under her knees and the other across her back to support her as he shifted her on his lap. She nuzzled into his chest and happiness exploded inside of him.
‘Feel better, brother? I don’t think you have any reason to be jealous. The girl already wants to be close to you.’
He narrowed his eyes on her. ‘Shut up, Aja.’
She shrugged, smirking. ‘Well, don’t let your emotions pass through the link.’
He bared his teeth at her. Hands caressed his face and he jumped, startled. Lily giggled.
“You’re awake,” she whispered, stroking his arm.
He nodded. “Hey, Lily. How are you feeling?”
“I was scared.”
“Why?” He glared at the men in the room. “Did they-”
Aiden and Gregory growled and Lily shook her head vigorously.
“No. You went to sleep and didn’t wake up. I was scared you weren't going to.”
His heart swelled. He shifted her again so he could put his forehead against hers.
“I’m sorry I scared you, sweetheart.” He closed his eyes. “I’m okay. I promise. I am a little hungry. Do you want to eat with us? Have you eaten dinner? Or whatever meal it is?”
“Yes, I-”
“No, she hasn’t. She has refused to leave the room and hasn’t done anything, but wait for you guys to come back,” Aiden interjected, before holding his hands up in surrender at Lukas’ glare. “We tried to get her to eat.” He pointed over his shoulders at the several still covered platters on the table. “We had food brought for her, but she wouldn’t move from your lap.”
He turned his attention back to her now blushing face.
“I.. I was.. Umm….”
He smiled and kissed her cheek. “It’s okay, Lils, but I do want you to eat, okay?”
She nodded. “Can we have mac and cheese?”
Aiden nodded. “Sure.”
He excused himself and left the room. He laid his head on the top of hers again. “Lily, you have to eat, okay?”
“I do eat,” she argued.
“Even when I’m not around. You are very skinny and I worry about your health. I know Sasha healed you. You will need everything you can eat to get stronger.”
She flushed and nodded. Aiden came back a little while later with a few of the kitchen staff pushing four trolleys of food. The platters were laid out on the table. Lukas stood up, placed Lily down beside his father and went to the table. He searched the platters until he found the platter of mac and cheese covered with bacon. His stomach growled and he made himself a plate, before putting half of the mac and cheese on another plate. He walked back to Lily and handed her her plate. He cut into his steak, quickly cubing it, before taking her plate and spooning some of the pasta onto his plate to make room for some of his meat. She eyed him.
“You’re sharing your food with me?”
He put her plate on her lap. “Yeah. You need to eat more than mac and cheese.”
She slowly ate, watching him. Lukas felt the link with his father open.
‘You really care about her, don’t you?,’ he asked softly.
Lukas let his eyes move over Lily’s face. ‘I do.’
‘You’re in dangerous waters, Lukas. She is so young.’
‘I know.’
There was a knock on the door and then it was pushed open. Sherri, Raven, Melissa, Ethan and Jo all walked in. Sasha eyed them.
“So, Aiden told me on the way what you guys did. He also told me that we have children to look after now.” Melissa nodded. “I need to know, did any of you kill Councilman Slonsky?”
The women all shook their heads while Jo and Ethan exchanged nervous looks.
“Why is he important?,” Raven asked curiously.
“He is responsible for this mess. He spelled our parents and made them hate each other. He caused so many problems and to finally end this chapter of our lives, he needs to die.”
Ethan sighed and went to kneel at her feet. Sasha glared down at him. “What did you do?”
Before he could open his mouth, Jo dashed in front of him. “It was me. I let him go.”
Ethan growled from behind her. “I let him run with his daughter. He was always nice to you guys. I didn’t think it would hurt to let him go.”
Sasha bared her teeth at them. “That is because he knew who we were and if this went down bad for Anastasia, he didn’t want retribution aimed at him,” Sasha snapped coldly. She looked around the room. “We need to find him and eliminate him. Then we can breathe easy.”
Ethan bowed to her after he got to his feet. “My queen, please, allow me. This was my fault. Allow me to fix it.”
“You have one week. I want him here, alive and waiting for his execution.”
He bowed again. “I will see to it, Your Majesty.”
