Chapter 236 Old Factory Stories
Leonard suddenly remembered that Mariette was still locked in the cupboard. He quickly opened it and found Mariette with a flushed face, looking at him angrily.
"Why are you blushing?" Leonard asked, puzzled.
"It was too stuffy in the cupboard," Mariette said, lowering her head as she emerged.
"Have they left? Can I go now?" Mariette asked.
Leonard thought for a moment and shook his head. "Wait a little longer. They might go down for a drink or a chat. You should probably wait another hour before you leave."
"Okay, I'll wait here for an hour," Mariette said. She began to sit on Leonard's bed, but when she noticed the wet stains on the sheets, she wrinkled her nose in disgust and decided to go to the balcony instead.
Leonard went to the bed to change the sheets. As he removed the dirty sheets and went to the cupboard to get clean ones, he noticed some damp spots at the bottom of the closet.
"Did that woman pee in my cupboard?" Leonard thought to himself. He glanced furtively at Mariette, who was fiddling with the balcony door handle.
Even though Leonard was irritated, he didn't dare show it. He was aware of how formidable Mariette could be, and if she denied it and chose to confront him physically, it wouldn't turn out well for him.
"Wait, if it was pee, there should be more of it. This looks more like vaginal fluid," Leonard thought to himself as he changed the sheets, stealing another glance at Mariette, whose blush hadn't completely disappeared.
"Looks like she got a bit excited just listening to us," Leonard mused, taking in Mariette's form.
She was wearing a black tracksuit that clung to her curves, accentuating her round, firm body.
Just then, the balcony door handle made a soft click, causing Leonard to stop staring at Mariette.
"Did you fix the lock?" Leonard asked in surprise as he walked over.
Mariette shook her head. "Picking locks is a basic skill for detectives. I simply unlocked it; I didn't repair it."
"Since when? Isn't it a thief's skill?" Leonard muttered to himself.
"I don't have time to explain right now. I have to leave. Remember to bring the person tomorrow," Mariette said, rolling her eyes as she climbed over the second-floor balcony and landed on the backyard lawn. She then took a running start and jumped over the fence.
As he watched Mariette leave, Leonard sighed. "Such a pretty girl; why did she become a detective? And she's not very reliable."
Leonard tried to close the balcony door but realized it wouldn't shut properly. "Mariette, you've completely wrecked my lock!" Leonard ended up sleeping with the balcony door open that night, but luckily it was summer, so it wasn't too hot.
The next morning, Leonard got in touch with Annie's father and set up a meeting with him at a cafe. After a phone call with Mariette, Leonard arrived at the café and saw Mariette already there, waiting for him.
"Wow, you look stunning today, like a real lawyer," Leonard complimented Mariette.
Mariette was dressed in a fitted suit, her golden hair tied up, and wearing black-framed glasses. Her straight trousers couldn't conceal her curvy buttocks.
"I don't just look like a lawyer; I have a lawyer's license," Mariette said, pulling out a license with her photo on it. The name on the license was Sophia.
"Is that real?" Leonard reached out to take a closer look, but Mariette quickly put it back in her pocket.
"Of course not. I also have a police badge, a teaching certificate, and even a retired officer's card. These are all essential for a private detective," Mariette said coldly, pushing open the door to the cafe and stepping inside.
Leonard observed Mariette's elegant appearance and couldn't help but tease her in his mind, "One moment, you're a sneaky thief, and now you're dressed like a master forger. If you weren't a detective, you'd probably be a criminal!" Despite his playful thoughts, Leonard followed Mariette inside the house. After introducing Annie's father, Leonard quickly made the introductions.
"Sophia, this is Uncle Gale, who used to work at the factory you're curious about. Uncle Gale, meet Sophia, a lawyer who has some questions for you about the factory." Leonard introduced them.
"Attorney Sophia, what can I do for you?" Gale Stephens asked nervously, looking at the lawyer.
