chapter 10: Rainy Walk
Bang! Bang!
Blazes peaceful slumber was disturbed due to the continuous banging on his bedroom door.
"Blaze!" Diva hollered through the other side of the door. Her hands started to redden from smacking the door so many times.. "Blaze, open the door, please!"
Blaze groaned and took his phone from the nightstand. It was only 5 a.m. He was clueless as to why Diva was disturbing him at five in the morning when he usually woke up at six.
"Blaze, can you hear me? Blaze?" Diva inquired, controlling herself. She was trying hard to not cryat least not until she reached the hospital.
Heaving a sigh, Blaze got up to open the door. After all, he knew it was pointless to hope that Diva would stop bothering him if he didn't respond.
Blaze opened the door to see Diva wearing jeans and a leather jacket. He was slightly confused, but then asked, "Don't tell me youre afraid of a little thunder, and even if you are, what's with the outfit?"
It was raining cats and dogs in Seattle. The weather was really bad. In such a situation, no one would even dare to step out of the house.
"Can you please drive me to First Hill Medical Swedish Hospital? Please. Linas been in an accident, and her condition is really bad. I got a call a few minutes ago and I have to be there," Diva breathed out, still trying to control her tears. She couldn't cry. She had to be strong for her best friend, who was lying in a hospital bed.
Blaze arched an eyebrow, not seeming bothered. "Why me? Drive yourself."
"I cannot drive. I never learned how. Usually, Lina would drive us to work as we both work at Rainbow Magazine." She stared into his green eyes with her grey ones, an almost pleading look covering her face. "Please, Blaze. Shes in critical condition."
"Go away, Diva," saying that, he was about to close the door but Diva put her foot in the way, preventing it from shutting.
"Lina is the best friend I have had since kindergarten. I cannot lose her. I am all she has in this state. A nurse called me using her phone and I" Blaze cut off in between Diva's words.
"I don't care."
"Blaze, please," Diva's voice broke. She couldn't walk to the hospital because of the storm. Besides, no one would drive her to a hospital at five in the morning for fear of being hit by lightning. Blaze was the only person she could rely on at this time.
Blaze gave her a nonchalant looknot bothered in the tiniest bit. "Look, woman. Your business is really none of my concern. Besides, shes just a friend. She's in the hospital now, which means she is in good hands. Your being there won't make a difference. You are not a doctor, nor are you a superwoman."
"Bla"
"Just go and sleep peacefully as you have already ruined mine," Blaze said and closed the door with a thud, even though Diva was still standing there.
A tearwhich she was trying hard to keep in, slid out of her eye. How could a person be so cruel? How can he not care? wondered Diva.
She turned away and started walking towards the mansions gate. She had to reach the hospital, even if it meant walking to the hospital, which she was willing to do. She would do anything for her best friend. After all, Lina was like a sister to her.
Diva opened the umbrella and started walking. Her umbrella could barely cover her person; the rain hit her legs like hail. The strong wind was enough to make her umbrella almost fly away. Diva mentally slapped herself for not wearing a raincoat as well.
"That guy is so heartless. I'm sure if I ever get in an accident someday, Blaze would never come to see me. At best, he will send Atlas to pay the bills as charity. I am sure of that now," she started talking to herself to ease her loneliness on the empty roadthe wound in her heart still fresh.
"Why is he like that, Dad? Why am I married to such a person, who doesn't even care for me? How can he be cruel?" Diva glanced at the sky, talking to her dad who was probably watching her from heaven.
Diva's tears were getting mixed with the rainwater. "I know I am not a doctor or a superwoman who can heal her, but my presence will give Lina assuranceit will give her strength. She will know that she is not alone and that her best friend will always be there to support her." Surprisingly, she wasn't feeling sick from the cold, because she was worrying about Lina.
Diva hadnt slept that night because she was up playing video games. She has a habit of playing games until late at night. When she got the call, she picked it up and instantly ran to Blaze after hearing about Lina's accident.
Soon, Diva reached the hospital, her clothes drenched from head to toe. With the hope that her clothes would dry soon, she ran into the hospital to inquire about Lina.
"Excuse me! Can you please tell me where the emergency room is? A blond woman has been in an accident and she was taken here. I got a call from her phone," said Diva.
The receptionist stood up and spoke, "You are Diva, aren't you? I called you. Please fill the patient intake form. The doctor is already treating her."
Diva took the pen and quickly started filling up the form. After she was done, she handed the form to the receptionist and waited outside the emergency room. In the meantime, she called Lina's parents who live in New York as well as her grandma.

Meanwhile, Blaze was getting ready to go to the office. Eating breakfast, he was a little bit taken aback by not seeing Diva at the breakfast table; he thought she was asleep. It was already half-past six in the morning. Diva's office hours start at nine, so she is probably still sleeping, thought Blaze.
Breakfast without Diva was quiet and peaceful for Blaze. If she were there, she would start explaining her entire plan for the day until he left for the office. He wouldn't admit it, but he did feel her absence.
After Blaze quietly ate his breakfast, he headed to the office. The weather wasn't horrible anymore. It was only drizzling, and the sky seemed clearer than before.
When he reached his office, he started doing his work. Surprisingly, he didn't hear a word from Diva the whole day. His day was going normally, and it bothered him a little.

In the hospital, the doctor said Lina would be okay. Diva was extremely relieved. After Lina was moved to a ward, Diva bought a cup of coffee to try to cure her headache. Then, she started talking to her.
"Your parents took the next flight out, and they will be here tonight," said Diva, taking a sip of her coffee. "I insisted on staying the night but your mom ordered me to go home. She will stay with you here, so I am here till 11 p.m."
Lina narrowed her eyes. "Diva, why are you completely drenched?"
Diva paused, sipped her coffee, and placed the cup on the table. Sighing, she said, "You wont believe what happened!"
Diva narrated the whole incident with Blaze. Most of the time, she kept expressing her anger towards Blaze, which Lina found amusing.
After Diva was done speaking, Lina exhaled, "Why did you walk to the hospital, silly? You could've waited and then called an Uber, you know?"
"But I was so worried about you, Lina!" she explained. "My heart was beating like I was running a marathon when I heard the news. All I knew was that I had to be here for you. Besides, if you died and I wasn't there, who would hear your last wishes?"
Instantly, Lina threw a pillow in Diva's direction. "You are already thinking about my death, you vile woman!"
They both burst into laughter and talked more as if there were no tomorrow. When it was late and they had finished the dinner which was brought by Lina's mother, Diva called an Uber and headed home.

Entering the Hudson mansion, Diva was shivering once again. Her dress had dried but ever since the walk, she had been feeling cold and her headache hadnt subsided.
Blaze was in the living room, working on his MacBook. He was continuously checking the time and wondering where Diva was. He googled Rainbow Magazine, the company where Diva worked for, when he was in his office and it turned out that today was a day off due to the anniversary of the company founders death.
As soon as Blaze heard the door of the mansion opening, his eyes fell on Diva, scanning her from head to toe. Seeing her wear the same outfit, and her skin turning pale, Blaze couldnt help but feel guilty.
Diva was shivering, and he could clearly see that. No doubt, Diva had walked to the hospital in the midst of the heavy rain.
How can someone really care so much for a friend? thought Blaze. If this is how much she cares about a friend, then how much will she care for a person she truly loves?
