chapter 20: Room Share

Blaze called for a maid to show Emerald her room, and as soon as Emerald left the dining hall, Diva leaped up on the chair.
"Oh, my goodness! What are we gonna do, Blaze? If Grandma stays here, we are so screwed. She will know that we aren't really a couple. She will get to know we lied to the paparazzi and will tell them the truth because she has such a strong sense of justice. Not to mention, she is going to kill me and sue you" Diva's ramble was smoothly cut off by a single word of Blaze.
"Quiet."
Diva closed her mouth and got down from the chair. She had to obey him, even if it was a small order. After all, she was indebted to him.
"What are we going to do?" she asked again.
"Try using your brain once in a while," he retorted and motioned for a maid to come. "Shift her belongings to my bedroom," he ordered the maid.
Rather than making a fuss out of the situation, it was just better to pretend to be a couple in front of Grandma. Of course, it was too much of an effort for Blaze to explain it to Diva.
"Okay, sir." The maid went away to get her work done.
Whilst, Diva gaped at Blaze. "Why will she shift my things to your room?" she questioned, putting a hand on her hip.
"As I said, use your brain," saying that, Blaze walked out of the dining area, leaving Diva to ponder over.
"Do I have to live in the same room as Blaze for as long as Grandma is here?" Diva asked herself and let out a gasp.

After Emerald was done freshening up, Diva knocked on her door and asked from outside, "May I come in, Grandma?"
"Yes," Emerald replied, and Diva peeked in before stepping in the room. Emerald patted the seat next to her, motioning Diva to sit beside her.
After Diva was seated, she fidgeted with her fingers. She wanted to apologize to her grandma for hiding her marriage until now, but she couldn't get the words out. She was always on the edge of her seat whenever she was talking to her grandma.
Since her parents' death, Emerald was very strict with Diva, which resulted in Diva being absolutely afraid of her grandma. She still loved and respected her, though.
"Um, I, uh"
Emerald quirked an eyebrow.
"I wanted to say," Diva took a deep breath and continued, "I'm sorry for hiding everything until now. I really feel horrible about it, but I didn't mean it. I just didn't know how to say it. Grandma, I understand that you're angry and might not have forgiven me just yet. That's why I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart."
Emerald let out an exasperated sigh and bumped her knuckles lightly on Diva's head, saying, "I'm not mad at you. I'm just hurt, you know."
Diva looked down, out of shame.
"You're the only one I have, yet you took such a big decision in your life and didn't bother to let me know, let alone take my permission. I understand, Diva, you're an adult even though your mental age is of a five-year-old, and you have every right to make the choice of your life partner. But was it too hard to inform this old woman who took care of you her whole life?"
Diva stayed silent for a while.
"It's not what you think, Grandma. I don't know what to say. I won't give you any excuses, but I am really ashamed of not telling you. I only can apologize and try to make it up to you." Diva pulled a small smile on her lips and added, "That being said, I don't regret what my life has become."
"I see," Emerald spoke up, "Then, I would like to stay here and examine the husband you have chosen for yourself. I want to see if he's capable or not."
"I'm sure he will pass your test," Diva told her and smiled brightly.
"Don't think you're off the hook yet. I'll test you as well." Emerald narrowed her eyes at Diva, who let out a nervous chuckle.
"Of course."
After that, Diva and Emerald talked a few things over before Diva returned to her room. She changed direction midway as she remembered their current situation and started making her way towards Blaze's bedroom, which was on the other side of the floor.
She noticed a few maids coming out of his room. "Ma'am, everything has been set. If there's anything you want to be fixed, please let me know," one of the maids said and bowed.
"Sure." Diva smiled at her and got inside the room, only to get astonished by how neat and clean it was. It gave her a five-star hotel vibe, only the colors were a little dullgrey, black and white.
Diva pouted, seeing everything in its place. It itched her a little bit. She hated perfection because she firmly believed no one was perfect. Therefore, why should a room look so perfect when humans, the smartest creature of the world, weren't perfect themselves? It needed to have flaws. If it didn't, she was gonna make the room imperfect.
With that resolve, Diva went to the kitchen and brought a bag of potato chips. She misplaced the cushions on the couch and opened the curtains, letting sunlight enter the room. She threw the cardigan she was wearing on the sofa, leaving herself in a cotton white top, and left her shoes on the floor in a messy way, not before dislocating the carpet beneath it.
She dived on the king-sized bed and pulled the duvet up to the waist and tore the bag of potato chips open. She took the remote of the television and played on an episode from one of her favorite dramas on Netflix. Resting her elbow on the pillow, Diva munched on the chips while enjoying the show.
Just then Blaze walked in his room, or so he thought it was before entering. His jaw dropped to the floor as he saw the devastating sight of his bedroom. His eyes darted to the source of it all, who was now relishing his bed as if it belonged to her. He could swear he saw red everywhere with anger.
"Diva," he called her name in an alarming tone, forming his fist into a ball. Nothing pissed him more than messiness. He hated unorganized and unhygienic stuff, and Diva was the epitome of it.
"I'm busy, Blaze." Diva munched on another chip, her eyes glued to the screen of the television.
Blaze eyed the crumbs on his bed. "What have you done to my room?" he questioned, examining all the changes in his room.
"It was just too perfect. I just had to change it up," she said absent-mindedly.
"But why mess it up like this?" He picked up her cardigan from the sofa and threw it in the laundry bag.
"Princesses like to be messy," she replied.
"Just who is a princess here?" Blaze frowned while fixing the cushions on the couch.
"Me, duh. I'm Diva, meaning princess," Diva exaggerated.
"Whatever you say, messy princess." He rolled his eyes and snatched the packet of potato chips from her and threw it in the dustbin, with a look of 'no-eating-in-the-room'.
"No, you're just a clean freak," Diva objected.
He narrowed his eyes at her, crossing his arms over his chest. "I'm helping you with your grandma, and that's how you repay me?"
"A friend in need is a friend indeed," Diva repeated, earning a frustrated groan from him.
"Ugh!" Blaze grumbled and stormed out of the room. Nowadays, it seemed that even though he was the owner, nothing belonged to him anymore. Diva was owning everything from him. How long until she owned him?

After Blaze was done throwing his temper-tantrums, he came to his bedroom at midnight to find Diva playing games on her laptop with full dedication.
He rolled his eyes and went to the bathroom to get changed into his nightwear and brush his teeth. Freshening up, he dusted the bedsheet to look for any chips crumbs, in case no one had cleaned it yet, thankfully, he found none.
He spared Diva a glance before lying down on the right side of the bed. He always slept on the right side.
Why do I have to care where she will sleep? She can sleep on the floor, for all I care, Blaze thought adamantly, before letting sleep engulf him, even though the turned on lights bothered him a little.
It was around four in the morning when Diva stretched out her hands in exhaustion after playing games for six hours straight. She was in a big quest, so she was completely divulged in it, completely forgetting about her surroundings.
Her eyes fell on Blaze, who was sound asleep. She didn't even notice him return to the room, let alone falling asleep. She plugged out her headphones and went near him, taking a good look at his handsome facial features. A smile evolved on her face.
Then, she went to the bathroom to change into something more comfortable. She quietly laid beside him, not before putting two pillows in between them.
To be honest, Diva didn't mind sharing a bed with him because it wasn't that big of a deal to her. Friends always have sleepovers, don't they? that's what she thought.
Even though Diva liked to sleep on the right side of the bed, she could adjust to sleeping on the left side for a few days. The least she could do was give him that much for all the things he did for her sake.
