Chapter 12: Plan
"Come on Egan don't see me as an outsider who needs to be kept a secret." Eric continued to convince Egan: "You keep your secret from me, making me feel like I'm trash, unreliable for you to reveal and share your difficulties with. We are good brothers, blessed. Shared benefits, shared misfortunes, have you forgotten?"
"I just want to know how you're doing so you don't have to worry about it." Eric didn't stop until Egan was shaken. Before Eric's efforts, Egan reluctantly satisfied Eric's wishes, anyway, it was no big deal. Anyway, Eric was someone Egan trusted.
"I've just been through a life-or-death battle and I don't want to talk about how badly my kidneys have been damaged after the accident." Egan finally softened before Eric's sincere eyes were fixed on him: "I just want you to know, I have had another kidney transplant and am still learning to adapt to the sugar change. sudden, new. I don't know how I'm feeling right now. I almost died and as you can see I'm still here, miraculously still alive."
"That's the very, very good news I've heard." Eric happily exclaims: "Thank God for protecting and keeping you safe. I think you should do thanksgiving and do a charity to repay this favor."
Eric excitedly suggested to Egan, and then as if remembering himself an important detail he had almost forgotten, his brows furrowed: "Wait, wait a minute, you said the kidney was damaged?"
"YES!" Egan nodded again: "Exactly, both of my kidneys have been seriously damaged, unable to function properly anymore. That's what the doctor told me after I woke up. With this, It's a miracle that I'm still alive in such terrible conditions. It's a wonderful miracle."
"You're not joking right?" Eric asked skeptically, "Come on, Egan, this joke is not funny."
"I'm totally serious about it." Egan asserts: "The doctors themselves didn't believe it. They told me that hope seemed to be extinguished when my condition was severe. Getting a replacement kidney was expensive and It took a long time. But just when everything was about to end, a miracle happened when someone volunteered to donate a kidney to me. I was one of the luckiest people they had ever met."
Eric couldn't believe what he just heard, Egan had to go through such hardship just a few days ago. And he's really grateful that Egan survived the accident. Indeed it was a miracle of God.
"I don't know what to say after hearing your story. It's hard to believe. And there's probably a lot of people like me."
God, Eric really finds it hard to accept such news. It was like a drama that had been scripted before.
"Tell me the truth, Egan, aren't you kidding?" Eric, unconsciously, said what was on his mind. Eric still has skepticism about it all. Don't blame him for the fact that this is very unlikely. You have to witness it with your own eyes to accept its existence, but listening to the story, the listener will have the feeling that it is just a fabrication and embellishment of the world's tongue.
Egan didn't say anything more to the question, he just looked at Eric seriously in affirmation.
Eye to eye, there was no lie in Egan's eyes. Eric finally accepted Egan Robert's story as true. In Eric's opinion, what happened was truly miraculous.
"I was fortunate to have a kind person in time to donate a kidney, just to survive." Egan then added, "So prepare a nice reward for me to thank my benefactor."
"You're very lucky indeed." Eric said with relief, "Then who is that person so that I can know and prepare a suitable, suitable reward."
Referring to her benefactor, Egan learns her name is Vera. Egan asked the nurse and was told about Vera by them. Egan hadn't met Vera yet, but he was trying to figure out what kind of person she was. Egan was very impatient to see the angel save him with his own eyes. However, he was a bit worried and he needed to prepare carefully from mental to other things before appearing in front of Vera, expressing his deep gratitude to his benefactor.
"Egan." Eric calls for attention as Egan seems distracted: "What are you thinking?"
"What happens?" Egan turned to Eric and asked in an emotionless voice. Eric's question about Vera was ignored by Egan. And Eric is no longer interested in finding out who Egan's benefactor is. Eric thinks that Egan will say it himself after Egan has officially decided what to do to repay the benefactor.
"What do you plan to do next?" Eric asked the question after carefully considering an issue that he was very worried about: "Those people will definitely come to you if they know you're still alive. This is not simply an ordinary threat. , it's clear that someone wants to kill you. The proof is that you almost died."
"Have to improvise." Egan replied without thinking for too long: "I don't know exactly what I'm going to do right now. But finding the mastermind is urgent."
"You're right." Eric concurs: "So where should we start?"
"First, find the guy I had a fight with at the bar that night." Egan comes up with a plan. That revelation made Eric angry.
"Which guy did you fight?" Eric couldn't hide the surprise on his face. Egan likes to worry about money and now he is in trouble for that act of kindness.
"Ask Joyce and he'll tell you in detail." Egan ignored Eric's displeasure, focusing on adding, "We've got to find that guy."
"Why? What does he have to do with anything?" Eric asked incredulously.
"I saw the guy in the car chasing me that night." Egan recalled the murderous face the man had looked at him: "So hurry and find him."
"I think the police will be involved soon." Eric gave his opinion: "We'd better cooperate with the police, not arbitrarily act."
Egan shook his head in protest, causing Eric to raise his eyebrows again in bewilderment:
"I don't get it. The fact that the police didn't release details about the accident clearly must have had a twist." Egan sheds light on the obvious that was intentionally made public.
"You mean someone deliberately withheld the news." Eric concluded and suddenly his face darkened: "You could be in danger if that person knew you were still alive."
"Right." Egan agrees. It is not difficult for both of them to realize how powerful a person who has the ability to manipulate public opinion as well as make the police keep the information secret: "In my opinion, Robert's enemy is not an insignificant, easy type. deal. So now we need to act on our own."
"I got it." Eric has no further comments, he accepts the task and is determined to complete it soon: "I will immediately send someone to do it."
"What about you? It's dangerous here." Eric expressed concern.
"We'll be next to each other." Egan had an idea. He spent a lot of time thinking about his next course of action and now after meeting his great assistant he will proceed right away.
"What do you want to do?" Eric looked at Egan trying to figure out what Egan was aiming for.
"Spread fake news." Egan looked at Eric, smiling sinisterly.
"You want to fake your death." It was not difficult for Eric to understand immediately the plan that Egan wanted to carry out.
Egan gave Eric a firm nod confirming his plan.
"OK." Eric agreed with Egan: "First, we need to find a safe place for you to avoid unexpected visitors. Then I will spread the news about your disappearance. Wait for the right time. If you do, you'll show up to catch the bad guy. Perfect plan."
"Let's move quickly." Egan urged.
"I'll do it right now," Eric said and stood up. He will proceed right before the other side makes a new move: "You should rest, wait for good news."
"Besides..." Egan seemed rather thoughtful before continuing.
"Is there anything else?" Eric, who was walking towards the door, turned abruptly to Egan with a suspicious look. Trying to guess what's going on in Egan's head right now.
"Learn about Vera Taylor for me." Egan looked Eric straight in the eye and insisted, "I want information about this person as soon as possible."
"Who is that?" Eric asked curiously.
"The girl was admitted to the hospital with me." Egan sighed said.
He really still has a lot of doubts about the incident, especially Vera's noble actions. Egan never trusted people for no reason, he always had worries that someone approached him just to deceive him. If Egan came from a poor background, is not very special circumstances, perhaps his thinking would be different. But no, Egan is the heir of a rich family. The fortune he owns is huge, a delicacy for ladies specializing in mining. So Egan has a hard time building trust with girls. Money lost to Egan is not important, the main thing is that he is afraid of his trust being hurt. Egan didn't like having to go through such a bad feeling. The loss and trauma have turned Egan into a skeptic of the whole world, he is imbued with the teachings of his grandfather, must always doubt, find out for sure to put his trust in others.
"Which girl?"
As expected of Egan, Eric exclaimed in surprise when he heard about Vera. Egan didn't plan to speak out anytime soon so he wouldn't be interrogated by Eric. However, sooner or later Egan has to clear things up. What else knows the way to calculate. If Vera was a good girl, he had to repay her for saving her life. If Vera was true to his suspicions, Egan would have had a different response. Being disturbed is not going to die or get sick, just annoying. Egan thought he could bear it.
"The kidney donor." Egan closed his eyes and spoke in a calm voice.
"Why don't I understand?" Eric was confused by the information again.
Once again Egan sighed because he had to explain many words to a problem. In a calm voice, he said:
"She was found lying next to me and was taken to the hospital with me. The doctor said she was the one who called the police and as said earlier. She volunteered to donate her kidney to save me."
To be honest, Egan really appreciates Vera's work. If Vera was truly an angel, he vowed to repay her with the best. However, if all is just a methodical plan, in order to win his heart and approach him, Egan will have to have a different way of dealing with it. Just thinking about the second hypothesis, Egan suddenly felt angry, angry because the human heart is so terrible, so dangerous. To be able to think of donating a kidney would be too much of an investment. But thinking about it carefully, Egan feels that Whether Vera is a schemer, approaches Egan for personal purposes, or is ordered by someone else, that act of sacrifice is beyond Egan's imagination. Perhaps Egan has been deducing too much but has said he has the right to be found out, to bring everything back to its transparent form.
"As you say, things need to be carefully considered." Eric began to analyze, questioning clearly: "Does she know you?"
"That's exactly what I was wondering. How could there be such a coincidence?" Egan expressed the opinion: "I was quite surprised when I heard the news, it confused me."
"I can't say for sure." Eric made his comments: "Maybe the whole thing was staged by the enemy. They want to manipulate you with a woman."
What Eric said was very disturbing, but Egan didn't want to lose his hope. He wants to see things in a positive light, instead of just the gloom that covers his life forever.
"But it could also be a coincidence, she happened to be there," Egan added a second point. Honestly, Egan has a craving that the idea Vera is angelic. He always yearns to find people to whom he can entrust his faith.
"You're also right, we shouldn't jump to conclusions until we've grasped anything convincing against our thoughts." Eric shows his sharpness. Always use your mind and reason instead of letting your emotions work blindly.
"Then let's find out about her soon." Egan expressed wishes, aspirations: "I want to know about her."
"I know, I'll sort it out soon." Eric understood Egan's mind. He knows Egan wants to open his heart to more people. Egan has closed her heart since the departure of her parents and brother. Eric would love to see Egan happy. Eric also hopes that the results will not make Egan disappointed, even disappointed.
