Chapter 19

Third Person’s Point of view
Logan went out his door with a stern expression on his face as he approached Hugo. Hugo's piercing voice could be heard in the distance, and he couldn't stop himself from anger.

To be sure Elle couldn't get out of Logan's room, he peeked at his door one more time. There were two guards on duty, and her leg was also chained, so she was completely secure.

"I believe it is too soon for you to start causing problems here, Hugo. I wasn't expecting you to show up." Logan was already making his way up the stairwell to the hall. He looked around him and spotted another servant who was laying prostrate with scars on his body. Logan further said Hugo's rage could not be contained in his eyes.

"Get Elle out of here! There's no way you can hold her captive!" Hugo's physical appearance rapidly transformed, and he took the form of a wolf. In contrast, Logan sat back and watched the enraged guy go about his business as usual.

Due to the fact that the wound did not heal promptly, he signaled for another guard to take the other servants and treat them. When he was certain that there were only two of them remaining, he turned to face Hugo, who gave him another timid expression in response.

"I have no intention of returning the thing that I have had for a long time."

"Elle does not exist as a thing!"

"Why don't you force yourself to take her away from me if you want her to come back to you?" Logan becomes even more infuriated because he believes Hugo is one of the reasons why Elle wants to flee from him and this place.

"You speak about peace, but don't you realize that the struggle begins with you?"

"I don't need to know what Shadow's pack Alpha thinks about anything. You're not even willing to put your wolf pack in my care. Who are you to take the reins of my life? You have your own set of suspicions. What I'm more intrigued about is why you traveled to the region of the Lone pack in the first place. Augustus welcomes you at his court, but you are not keen in the alliance I am alluding to. Can you tell me why I should put Elle in your worries?"

Hugo was unable to respond to Logan's statement. The fact that they are talking about the attempted assassination of the lycan king is something he doesn't want Logan to know about. Hugo and Augustus plan to assassinate Logan so that Augustus may take command of the whole division. However, it seems that this will not be feasible since Elle is his first concern at the moment.

"As long as you're serious about getting Elle back, I'll wait for you to return here. By that time, I’m expecting that you can take my head.”

Logan had just turned around and was about to begin climbing the stairwell when Hugo rushed him from behind. He didn't instantly sense Hugo's presence behind him, but he was able to dodge it thanks to his quick thinking.

"As one would expect from the Alpha king."

Logan hailed him with a grin, but Hugo just grunted. Logan rubbed his forearm gently, watching as the scar Hugo had left began to fade. Logan chose not to morph and instead watched Hugo.

"If you don't intend to bring Elle back, I'll challenge you to a duel," says Hugo. Changing his position, Hugo peered up at the second floor where Logan had been standing before he arrived. Elle was around, and he was aware of her presence.

"And what will I get if I am victorious?"

"The deal I reached with Augustus will be shared with you. And what will I get if I win?”

"You'll be successful in obtaining Elle." Logan's expression was solemn, and Hugo was certain that what Logan was saying was correct. What he didn't know was that Logan had no intention of giving Elle. He couldn't bear the thought of losing Elle.

"If that is the case, I expect you to keep your word. The following month, I shall return to this place to kill you." He regained his composure and just reasoned that he shouldn't antagonize Logan since he was afraid of what it would do to Elle.

"Within these circumstances, I'm looking forward to your return. For the time being, I'll just enjoy Elle's body — Oh. I'm trying to learn Elle from beginning to end firstly." Logan smiled to mock, but his look quickly faded as he ascended to the top, leaving Hugo speechless by his presence.

When he returned to the top, he asked the two guards to leave in a matter of seconds.

When he opened the door, he saw Elle sitting still in her bed.
