Chapter 33
Logan’s Point of view
I can't believe who I'm seeing in front of me at the moment. Augustus was the guy I anticipated meeting, so how come the man in front of me now is Nerus....
No…
He is not Nerus in any way.
The Archer Poer that Elle has been seeking for for a long time has finally shown up. His face is still the same as before, but his body and other portions of his body have been transformed into Nerus's appearance. Besides having horns and having a crimson body, he also possesses eyes that are devoid of expression. I could tell from the look on his face that he was unfamiliar with me. How did he manage to stay alive?
That really shouldn't be a question... What is he doing in front of me right now? I couldn't say anything because I couldn't think of anything to say. What is his motivation for siding with Augustus? There are a lot of questions running through my head, but I'm not sure what to say.
When I finally comprehended what was going on, the picture of Elle lying next to me in bed rushed into my consciousness. I can't help but be concerned about what could happen if she runs across Archer again. What do I think her response will be? Since she had been searching for Archer for a long period of time and even took revenge, I'm not sure that if she came across him again, she would choose me as his next option.
Because it is always Archer...
Elle is still a little wary of me... What would happen if...
It seemed as though the rising amount of inquiries was destroying my ability to think clearly.
“Kill… Lover…”
When he said something, I glanced at him and saw that his sword was up and he was preparing to hit me in the face. My pupils dilated, but I was able to immediately back away from the situation. I promptly grabbed my sword that I dropped and swung it at him in the direction of his chest.
We both agreed that he was my closest companion at the time, but now, I didn't know whether I could fight against him. I'm certain that he doesn't have a complete recall of Elle. But I can't murder him immediately now because I don't want Elle to be upset if she finds out that Archer is still alive and that I was the one who killed him.
I raised my eyes to the spot where Augustus was standing, and he seemed to have been anticipating my arrival for quite some time. My jaw clenched as I realized that he had something to do with what was going on right then and there. I'm not sure what's going through his head right now.
"Augustus!" I couldn't keep my voice down. But I startled as Archer was about to slash me in the face with his sword once again. When I looked at him, my eyes widened. "Cease and desist, Archer! Are you sure you don't remember who I am?! "
Augustus burst out laughing when he heard what I had to say. I also saw him shaking his head, as if he were trying to communicate to me that he was dissatisfied.
I was planning on chasing after Augustus since he waved farewell to me, but I decided not to because I noticed Hadrian ahead of me and running faster than I. Augustus did not look at me, and as a result, he was unaware that Hadrian had followed him. I said that I would have to chop off Augustus' head, but that it didn't matter for the time being. All I want now is for him to perish so that he won't be able to bring about the next catastrophe.
Once again, I focused my concentration on the person in front of me, but I realized that he had vanished in front of me, and I got a strong sense that I knew where he had gone. Instantaneously, I shifted into a Lycan, and I raced to the location where Augustus and Hadrian had been heading. Archer, I'm certain, would have chosen to defend Augustus rather than stand in my way.
As his smell became more intense, I realized he was on the verge of assaulting Hadrian. I was fortunate in that I was ahead of him. It was pure serendipity that I was able to identify his scent so fast, and I didn't have any difficulty hunting him down.
"Hadrian...!" When Archer got close to him, I hissed and shoved him away. I discovered that Augustus did not anticipate the presence of Hadrian behind him. After pushing Archer, I observed that his physical strength was different from mine. I wasn't expecting him to be so hard to force at this point.
It was clear to me that Hadrian was astonished by what I had done, and he turned to see where the commotion had come from, since we were now inside the palace. A lot of the furnishings in Augustus' home were shattered.
“Archer! Don't you see that Augustus is just using you for his own purposes? Get up and go! You are not Nerus in any way! You are Archer, of course!" No matter what happens, I have to persuade him to change his mind. I'm not going to be able to kill him with my sword.
"Don't take him at his word, Nerus. He not only took your sweetheart, but he also murdered you! Do you believe you would still be alive today if it weren't for me and the witches' aid to get revenge? You have to be clever, Nerus!"
Because of what he said, I was unable to maintain my composure and attacked his instead. He also changed fast into his wolf form, which enabled him to evade my assault almost immediately.
"You are mistaken if you believe that what you did to me will happen again in my domain. Nerus!"
As soon as he yelled Archer's name, Archer sprung to his feet and charged at me. "You can be sure that if you kill them both, I'll bring Elle back to you."
"You were so close to getting me there, Hadrian!" Augustus burst out laughing, which just aggravated my already-heightened irritability.
I couldn't believe a word he said. I was speechless. How is he planning on stealing Elle away from me? Elle has fallen in love with me, and she is unable to pursue any other interests. One more thing: I'm still not over what he did to Elle, and I haven't forgiven him for it. Elle was paralyzed with terror as a result of him. It's all his fault, so who is he to tell Archer that he's going to take Elle away from me?
"You are a depraved person, Augustus! I haven't forgotten what you did to Elle, and I will never forgive you! Do you believe I will be able to pardon you for what you did? You have no choice but to perish!"
Hadrian and I were both attacking at the same moment when we were halted by Archer's empty expression, which caused us to be distracted.
"Don't kill him… He has to... My lover."
I was really baffled by anything he was saying.
"You're absolutely correct, Nerus. You will never be able to have Elle again if I die. As a consequence, you must defend me."
Augustus' rage was freed when I cracked up laughing.
"One of the three dukes is a coward," I taunted.
