Chapter 53

Elle’s Point of view

*cough *cough *cough *cough *cough
I coughed repeatedly as I peered at the dark sky and pelting rain for what seemed like hours. Gaia was not allowed to enter my room until I informed her to. Despite the fact that I was devastated, I couldn't do anything because I knew Logan had a responsibility and not because I asked him to return, he had to do it. He cares about me, but I'm sure he cares about his kingdom as well.

I begged him to return because of what I had learned about Urla and Caius, but I also wanted him to return because I wanted him to know how I was getting on. He didn't even bother to write me a letter claiming if everything was fine with him.

"Ugh... Haaa." Although the room was frigid, I could feel perspiration forming on my forehead as I had the pain in my foot treated, and I was having trouble breathing. The doctor said that he did not perceive any problems with me. He claims he hasn't been able to locate the poison I'm talking about. What is the mechanism through which this occurs? Although he himself admitted that the birds perished, he speculated that since the eyes of the birds who died were open, it was possible that what happened to them was deadly poison.

I attempted to keep my coughing to a minimum so that Gaia and the other servants would not be able to hear me. I don't want them to believe that I'm simply pretending to bring Logan back home. I don't want them to have that impression any longer. Because of the discomfort I was experiencing, I just pushed myself to sleep, despite the fact that I knew I would have a difficult time sleeping because the pain I was undergoing would not go away. Logan's declaration to Gaia that he can't go home since he's "busy finding out about Nerus" appears to be playing in my head even now, a week after the event.

While I was already in bed and unable to get out of it, weeks passed without Logan returning. At this time, I already get the distinct impression that something is draining my vitality. Regardless of the fact that I hadn't yet received any news from Logan, I couldn't stop the rage building up inside of me. He didn't even bother to inquire as to whether or not I was feeling well. Gaia just provides me with food and assists me in eating since I am no longer able to feel anything in my body. My bones throughout my body went numb for the rest of the time.

"Do you want anything to eat, My Lady?" Gaia had approached me with the question. She was so concerned about my well-being that she did not wait for my permission to intervene after I had not eaten for three days. In addition, she cleanses my body and changes my robe while I'm sleeping.

My mouth opened slightly as I shook my head and given the fact that I couldn't fully open it, there was still some air flowing out. "About Logan, do you know whether there's any new information regarding him?"

"I attempted to relay the news to him once again, but it seems that he has not yet got it since I have had no response from him. My lady, you must build up your strength before he comes back. It is necessary to take a large amount of food. Your skin seems to be completely bloodless." Gaia put my hand in hers and began massaging me. For the time being, I simply nodded and closed my eyes since I could already see the track of tears trailing my eyes.

"Gaia, do you think Logan will be unhappy when I'm gone?" I opened my eyes again and exhaled loudly at even the most innocuous speech I had said.

“Of course! When he realizes that you are in this situation, I am certain that he will become quite concerned."

"If that's the case, why isn't he coming back?"

I moved my sight away from her and gazed out of the window at the scenery. Because my foot has been paralyzed, I am unable to wait for him to return. Gaia was unable to provide a response to my query. As I had predicted.

“Gaia, come out first. I want to be alone first.”

Logan’s Point of view

After feeling something blow against my back, I startled and gripped my neck, which caused my hairs to rise. Something has vanished, but I have no idea where it came from. I glanced at the two dukes in front of me, but they were still preoccupied with whatever they were doing at the time. I was just about to stand up when a tremendous wind blew into the library and calmed me down.

That's strange; despite the fact that the library is sealed off from the outside, air cannot get in. I took a look at the two, and it seems that none of them recently occurred. I would have kept reading to find out more information, but I heard a tap on the door.

"Your Majesty, I've received a letter from Gaia," a guard said.

I sighed as I slid the book I was carrying down to my lap. I'm unable to return home since our job will be delayed if we behave in a sporadic manner.

"Just keep the letter in your hands; don't send any message." Even if I really want to see Elle, I won't be able to. As for Caius and Urla, I already know what I'm going to do to them when I get back. I also wrote a message to the doctor, informing him that Elle's cough needed to be treated.

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

However, while I was reading the book, I became conscious of something I was not cautious of. That's what gives me the impression that I'm not comfortable. It was almost as if the wind was talking to me, telling me that I needed to return.
