CHAPTER 36

Novella's POV:-



"Who are they, mom?" I asked in confusion.

"We are here to help you, Novella." Said the strange man. He stood up and came close to me. He leaned closer and sniffed.


"So, you were attacked, weren't you?" The strange man said and I stared at him with my mouth agape and wide eyes.


"W..what?" I stammered.


"Ella, meet Mr Carter and Miss Davis. They are here to help us all." My mom replied. I looked at her then back at the man standing in front of us.


"I don't think so she was attacked, Ethan. She looks fine to me." Miss Davis said.


"But I can smell a vampire on her." The man named Ethan replied.


"Look, nothing happened to me. I'm perfectly fine. We don't need anyone's help." I said pointing my finger towards the strangers.


"I don't think we asked your opinion. Just answer the questions we will ask you." Miss Davis said and my anger rose. I stomped my foot on the ground and left the drawing room. I went straight up to my bedroom and locked my room. I sighed in relief and went to my bed. I laid down and remembered the strange man who saved my life. He was strong and very attractive. I smiled and felt butterflies in my stomach. After a few minutes I heard some noises from downstairs. I stood up and went to my balcony. I saw Ethan and Miss Davis leaving. I went back into the room as they left and went to the bathroom. I took a quick shower, wore my clothes and went downstairs. I had my dinner in peace. The whole family was on the table and we were eating together. But it was like I was eating all alone. No one was talking, no one even tried to start any kind of conversation with each other. After the dinner everyone went back to their rooms and so did I.



I opened my room and stepped in. I locked the door but before I would be able to turn on the lights, someone grabbed me by my elbow and pulled me on the bed. Their hand was on my mouth so I couldn't scream.


"What did you tell them about me?" I heard his familiar voice and I calmed down. He removed his hand from my mouth and I looked into his eyes which were glowing more in the dark room.


"Nothing." I whispered.


"Good, you need to forget about me or I am in big trouble." He said. He again stared into my eyes. I saw his eyes glowed even brighter. Suddenly, someone turned on the lights of my room. He got up and jumped out of my balcony. I turned to look but I saw Miss Davis standing at the door.


"I thought you both left?" I asked and crawled out of my bed.


"That's what we wanted you to think." She said it with a smirk.


"But I saw you leaving." I said.


"Novella, you know nothing about these creatures. We are here to help you, nothing else. He was in your room, can you imagine how dangerous it can be. What if Ethan wouldn't be here." She asked and my eyes widened in horror.


"Wait, what do you mean? I just saw you here." I asked her.


"That's because Ethan is faster than your eyesight. I'm sure Ethan must have caught him and will kill him." She replied.


"No no, you don't understand. You have to stop him. He was just here to make me forget about him. He saved my life. He is not the killer but the savior." I said.


"What?" Miss Davis asked.


"He isn't the one who is killing girls. He is saving them. Please do something to stop Mr Carter." I said. She quickly ran into the balcony and I followed her. She took a deep breath and screamed his name loudly. In a few seconds, I saw Mr Carter was out of the treeline and that strange man was on Mr Carter's shoulder. I ran out of my bedroom and went downstairs. Mr Carter threw him on one of the couches and turned to look at us.


"We have gotten the wrong person." Miss Davis said as she walked towards Mr Carter.


"Are you kidding me, Calla?" Mr Carter said in an angry tone. His voice was so masculine and deep that we all jumped in fear. But that woman Calla, it's like she wasn't afraid of him at all.


"Novella told me that this guy saved her from Austin. Tell me, what's your name then?" She asked that stranger without any hesitation. She pulled out the handkerchief from his mouth and he coughed.


"Dustin, my name is Dustin. I am not the killer." He said and looked at me.


"He is not lying. I'm sorry I didn't tell you before but he's the one who had saved me." I said in a pleading tone. Ethan started mumbling some words I didn't understand. Then snapped his fingers and Dustin stood up from the couch. It was like he was tied up with ropes that I wasn't able to see.


"Then tell us where is the other one?" Ethan asked and Dustin nodded his head.

"We can't catch him without Novella." Dustin said and everyone turned to look at me.


"If me being bait would save the others then I am ready." I replied confidently. I heard a soft sob of my mother.


"I promise you, I will bring your daughter back to you. Safe and untouched." Ethan said to my mother. She and my father nodded. Calla pulled out a pendant from her neck and handed it to my mother.


"Here, it will protect you all here so we can do our job there." Calla said and we turned around and stepped out of my house. Dustin took us deep into the forest. Ethan was holding Calla's hand. I could see they were a couple. Dustin was walking with me. I was shivering in fear. Dustin must have noticed that. He interviewed his fingers with mine and gave my hand a little squeeze. Just then, we all heard a monstrous growl. Ethan smirked and ran away. Leaving Calla with us all alone in that dark Woods.

"Bastard, he ran away." Dustin said angrily and stood in front of both me and Calla. I was shaking and Calla was all calmed and quiet.


"I thought you were smarter than that brother. Bringing my meal to me and with dessert. I am going to enjoy them both." That monster with red eyes said with a mischievous grin on his face. He was slowly walking towards us like a predictor stalking its prey.


"What kind of fool you really are Austin. Can't you smell death around you." Calla growled at that monster confidently and started laughing hysterically. I couldn't believe it. Even Dustin was afraid of that monster but Calla pushed past Dustin and stood in front of the monster.


"You are nothing but a piece of trash. You know, you are good for nothing. I think you are a rat, no no no. You are a bugg that will soon be dead." Calla said to that monster.


"Is she crazy?" I whispered to Dustin.


"I am a hundred percent sure she is." He replied back. Hearing Calla, Austin lunged himself on her but she didn't move an inch, didn't even blinked her eyes. Just as he was about to grab her neck, we saw Ethan jumped on him. He slammed Austin by the nearest tree. Just then, Calla grabbed the sword from Ethan's back and in a few seconds we saw a cut on Austin's neck. Calla swung the sword in the air and Austin's head dropped on the ground. Ethan again mumbled something and snapped his fingers three times. Austin's body started burning. Dustin sighed and smiled.

"I didn't run away. If he would have seen me here with you, he would have ran away and we don't have time to play hide and seek. You seemed like a good person Dustin. Rule this forest, mark it as your territory. Protect the people here like you have done till now." Ethan said and patted Dustin's shoulder.


"People think of me as a monster." Dustin replied in a disappointed tone.


"They won't, not anymore." Calla replied and smiled at Ethan. He mumbled something again and clapped his hands three times. He scooped Calla in his arms and Dustin did the same to me. In a flash we were inside of my house. Dustin left me on the door and I followed Calla and Ethan into the house.


"Time to find the letters." Calla said and closed her eyes. She started turning in circular motion then started walking towards the bookshelf in our living room. She stopped in front of the shelf and stared at it for a minute. Then she pulled out an old book that belonged to my great grandpa. Nobody ever touched it. She blew the dust off of it and opened it. There was an envelope in that. She took it out and put the book back into its place. They looked at my parents and smiled.


"Thank you." My mother said. They nodded their heads and in a blink of an eye they vanished.


I was again laying on my bed. I was thinking about Calla. She was so strong and brave I wanted to be like her. Just then I felt someone crawling into my bed. Before I could move, they pinned me on my bed. I saw the green glowing eyes and I smiled. I was about to open my mouth to tell him that I don't want to forget him but he sealed it with his mouth. He captured my lips into a long sensual kiss. I froze at first but kissed him back with the same passion as his. He broke the kiss after a few minutes then pecked my forehead.


"Good night Ella." He said and in a flash he left.
