I heard the early morning bells from the distance, from the east region of hell. Today was the day I was to get married to Xavier, I couldn’t help but smile to myself, I was getting married to him. I looked over my shoulder, he wasn’t there watching me sleep as usual maybe it was because I had to get ready for my marriage to him.

“Good morning my queen” Bronwyn beamed a smile at me as she entered the room, well that was a first, I have never seen Bronwyn smile that widely at me. It was scary.

“Why are you so happy”

“Because you are getting married to the prince and I love weddings, and you are just so beautiful and prince Xavier will stop teasing me and princess Camari, I am so sorry” her hand flew to her mouth, I smiled, even she knew that Xavier was annoying.

“It is okay” I smiled back

“It is time for you to prepare for your marriage, I will run you a bath and by the time you get out, the other maids will be here to bedazzle you” wow she was so excited about this, why did I feel like I was forgetting something.

“Where is Xavier” I shouted as she entered the bathroom

“He went up to earth to get the sacrificial lamb, at least that is what I think. Okay Bronwyn she is still the princess pull yourself together” I laughed slightly, WAIT did she just put Earth and Sacrificial lamb together, was Xavier going to kill someone in front of me? it could be a real lamb.

“What do you mean Sacrificial lamb?”

“I have no experience of coronations but I think there would be an innocent person to be slaughtered, Oh well” A child, a virgin or a priest. Any of them but it is going to be a human.

“When can I see him”

“What, don’t you know it is bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding, in the prince’s case it is worse luck” nonsense, I got off the bed, then quickly pulled my silk robe over my shoulders, I ran down the stairs trying to avoid as many maids as possible, somewhere carrying tables flowers and other things and to the courtyard and just then I saw Xavier entering the palace gates.

“XAVIER”

“Baby? why are you barefoot” he asked, I don’t know.

“Don’t baby me, what am I hearing about a sacrificial lamb in this case a sacrificial human” he sighed just on cue Camari came and grabbed my hand

“What are you doing down here you are supposed to be bathing, and you are not supposed to be looking at her Xavier, shoo” Xavier chuckled and walked away, he walked right out of that one.

“Let’s go” Camari led me up the stairs

I scrubbed my body with milk, Camari said it would beautify my skin, I said the milk smells nice.

“It is normal to be tense on your wedding day” she rubbed my shoulders

“I am not tense” she massaged a particular knot “yes right there” she giggled.

I got out of the bathtub and wrapped a towel around my chest, when I looked around my room there were maids everywhere getting ready to get me ready for today.

“Good morning your highness” they chorused

“Good morning”

“Please come and sit down” I walked to the vanity table and sat down slowly, the maids started putting rollers in my hair.

“You are going to be absolutely fabulous today my queen, I am going to make you look fabulous” like I was not fabulous before, from my peripheral vision I saw my wedding dress being rolled in on a mannequin, just as I was about to take a look at it, my face was drawn on with a cold liquid, oh is it time for my make up already?

One of the maids was finishing my makeup off, I looked at the mirror, she was actually true to her words she told me that she was going to make me look fabulous and she did. I was so beautiful, so beautiful that I wanted to cry and ruin the makeup. My lips were blood red and my eyebrows were drawn perfectly.

“Thank you for this” they started styling my hair upward and putting jewels in my hair, Camari placed a tiara on my head and I smiled at her through the mirror.

“Thank you Camari”

“You are welcome, you look so beautiful”

“Thanks” I replied and got up to check out my dress, it was perfection, the dress was black and it had and it had a thin strap, the bodice was my favorite part it was made entirely out of raven feathers.

“I think Xavier was extremely sweet to give away his feathers for the dress don’t you think,” Camari said

“He did, how will he fly”

“They have grown back, it was months ago” I admired the dress and the way the jewels on it glittered in the sunlight, I will be a sparkly princess.

I stood on the stool, and Camari and Bronwyn started helping me put the dress on, it was not until the dress was on my body that I realized it had an open back

“Oh, this dress is wonderful” I got off the stool and twirled around, I love it, I love Xavier, because of a dress, because of who he is. “I love it”

“Now for the shoes” Camari slipped my shoes on for me, my wedding is going to be awesome and full of surprises I can tell.
