I pulled away from Xavier when he yelled at me,

“What wh...” I stopped talking immediately I realized that I had just been hugging a bloodied Xavier, he had marks on his body. OH MY GOODNESS, I screamed, maybe that was a bit stereotypical but he was fine just a few minutes ago, Why was he so bruised and battered now. Xavier closed the door

“I thought you were asleep”

“What happened to you”

“Do I really have to point out the obvious?” he asked me sarcastically and walked past me.

“Who beat you up”

“It is not really important, let me take a shower then I can leave you to get dressed for dinner” he tried changing the subject but that won’t work on me, I could still see the blood on his body. At least now I know that demons actually bleed.

“Xavier what happened to you is it because of me” I don’t think I can live with myself if someone beat him up like this, stop caring he doesn’t even care about the injuries

“Of course not Winter, let’s just say I am just as stubborn as you ” What is wrong with this guy can’t he understand that I am trying to show what having a human heart is like.

“Wait can’t I help you clean it up or something,” I asked gripping his arm, Xavier winced and pulled his arm away from my hands.

“Winter I am fine don’t worry about me, it is nothing I haven’t gone through today. In fact, what you have to worry about is to remember what I taught you, you need to make a good second first impression.”

“For who exactly”

“My mother”

“She was the person who beat you up wasn’t she that.....”

“Shh she was not, It was someone else”

“So your father, why would he do this to his own son,” I asked

“Practice for dinner, your handmaidens would be here any moment from now and I can’t be here when they get here”

“Handmaidens?”

“The women that will help you get ready for dinner” Xavier entered the bathroom and closed the door softly.

I thought and stormed out of the room. As I walked down the stairs I looked around for where I could see the king. If I was the devil where would I be, hell, where in hell? not somewhere you should be, come on let us go back if anyone sees you here they would kill you Xavier is not here to protect you, I don't need Xavier to protect me, Quite frankly you do at least here in hell go back upstairs we can avenge Xavier later.

I bumped into someone, Uh oh, I looked up and saw Xavier's sister, Camari, looking at me with a huge ass smile on her face, That was not the expression I was expecting from her but then it was heartwarming.

"Where are you going?"

"Camari, Uh I was looking for you"

"You might want to remember than I can read minds" Curse the royal family.

"I heard that," Camari said and crossed her hand over her chest

"Oh I didn't mean, curse all of you I just meant you guys were like, I meant the ability is..." how do I put this, I said in mind

"Never mind, we can go upstairs to get you ready for dinner"

"This dinner is really a big thing isn't it"

"Not exactly, it is just going to be like every normal dinner except a human is by the table not on it" I moved back slowly, TOO AWKWARD for me.

"I am not going to be forced to eat a human being am I"

"You just have to wait for what the food looks like," she said and started leading me up the stairs.

"Do you know what happened to Xavier, he was bruised all over"

"Oh well he got into an argument with my father and my father decided to punish him it must have been horrifying for you to see all the blood on his body"

"Yeah kind of, he didn't even want to tell me what happened" Camari pouted

"So how old are you?" I asked

"I am three hundred and forty-two," she said

"So...?"

"So what?"

"How old are you in human years," I asked again

"Eighteen years old" she replied

"So we are basically the same age, maybe I will have a friend in this place after all," I said making her laugh

"Definitely, a friend of my brother's is a friend of mine, I know you are not just his friend though" I know I am not just his friend too, but why did that statement make blush.

"Let us get ready for dinner"

"What about lunch"

"We barely eat lunch in the palace, nobody has time for it, so the cooks waste their time cooking it then end up eating it up by themselves," Camari said, we walked past Xavier's room to where Camari's picture was, then we entered her room. I have to say I was impressed and jealous at the same time, her room was neatly arranged, I guess when you don't sleep you have a lot of time to clean up your room.

"Why do you have beds if you don't sleep?"

"Beds aren't only for sleeping, you should know that" I blushed again, I remembered she just saw me about to have sex with her brother, of course, she would make reference to it. We entered her room, and unlike all the other places I had been to today I didn't look around. Today went faster than I expected was it already dinner time. Camari went to her curtain and pulled the rope by it

"What is that for?"

"I was calling the maids to come to help you dress up"

"Why can't I wear what I am wearing?" I can sense a lot of asking of questions here but I just needed to know what I was getting myself into by marrying a prince

"You can't be serious, you can't wear jeans to see the king it is disrespectful" but what if I wanted to be disrespectful "I don't know if you have noticed but you have blood on your clothes" I looked down, wait have I been walking around like this since Xavier hugged me, I didn't notice the blood until now
