chapter 88

I read the Latin book silently to myself, today was the last day of autumn half term and I honestly don’t believe I stayed sane staying with Xavier for so long, of course, I tried my best to avoid him. My routine was simple, I woke up very early, and when I heard him leave the room for his workout I would get up and do the necessary things, and just before he got back to the room to tell me to go for my breakfast, I would go down and eat all alone, with Gillian watching me closely according to Xavier’s order. Then after food, I did some exercises, when Xavier must have been freshening up after his exercise. Throughout the morning I do not have to see him, then in the afternoon I just give him a greeting and force myself to sleep till evening when Jax brings my puppies to visit me then I read with them sleeping by my side.

I stroked apricot’s fur gently as I studied my Latin, Xavier was sitting beside me scribbling something in a paper beside me, honestly, I was very curious about it. I tried peeking over his hand to see what he was doing a few times but he would catch me in the act and I would have to say something along the lines of ′putatis me curant, sed non ego ′ (you think I care, but I do not).

I tried looking over the paper again, but this time he gave it to me, it was a drawing of me reading, I wanted to comment on how insanely talented he was but he annoyed me so...

“Cool,” I gave it back to him after giving the drawing a once over

“Winter?”

“What?” I looked at him

“You cannot ignore me forever,” he said, and I scoffed

“You watch me, your highness” he scooted closer to me and held my cheek an electric shock ran through my body immediately he did and my lips started yearning for the touch of his against mine. He pulled my chin so I was looking at him.

“No you can’t,” he said and his eyes traveled to my lips if he kisses me I will hate myself if he doesn’t kiss me I will hate myself. I pushed his hand away.

“Don’t kiss me”

“Oh hell” he pulled back

“Unless you can bring my father back from wherever you sent him, don’t expect a happy healthy relationship between us”

“Okay, fine I will leave you alone” WAIT, don’t go. Would you be on my side, for now, I am trying to make a point. “for now” wait what did he mean by for now? I meant forever, no you will still have sex with him so just go with it.

“Do you understand what I just said?” I asked Alec that was sitting beside me in the library, apparently, when I said I was going to give him only one tutor session, to him it meant I agreed to be his full-time tutor, not that I was complaining anyways, he was the only guy in my life. What about the guy that shelters you, the one you sleep beside every day, the one that takes you to school, the one you have professed love to if you don’t know what I am talking about, XAVIER I mean Xavier, Oh, let me rephrase that, Alec is the only guy in my life that I am free with.

“Yes, thank you for everything” he looked at me and I was confused with the face he was giving me,

“Okay? on to the next one”

“Oh” I explained the remaining questions to Alec, then there was this awkward moment when Alec and I reached for the pen at the same time and our hands touched, I moved my hand away quickly immediately that happened.

I do not know why I looked at Alec but I did, he was staring at me with the look that Xavier gave me whenever he wanted to kiss me. So what I have gathered is that Alec was in the mood to kiss me, Oh no. He leaned forward and I started panicking in my head, I once liked him but not anymore.

I did the first thing that came to my mind, I took the pen and pressed it on Alec’s lips, stopping his pucker in its tracks.

“Umm, I have to go I can’t,” I said awkwardly

“Oh, I am sorry,” he said and looked away, how far did Xavier wipe?

“It’s fine Alec, same time tomorrow?” I asked tucking my hair behind my ear

“Yes, of course, I am sorry again” I got up and grabbed my bag then walked out of the library.

“How was school?” Xavier asked me as soon as I entered the car, I ignored him “still ignoring me huh?”

“You need to give Alec his memories back”

“It isn’t my fault he cannot handle a punch”

“We both know you it wasn’t a punch that did that, you did something to him!!!”

“If I bring back his memories, he would remember everything”

“You are a demon, you can handle it”

“My training is not to the level where I can control how much memory I wipe, that is why I didn’t wipe Chloe’s memory, she would have forgotten you and trust me losing her is way better than when she doesn’t remember you”

“Some king you are going to be,”

“Why don’t you bring his memories back yourself since you are so good at it”

“I never said I am good at it, I mean you bring people back from the dead and you don’t know how to wipe brains correctly”

“Look I am not going to sit here and listen to you insult me”

“Jump out of the car then”

“Okay,” he opened the door, WHILE DRIVING.

“What are you insane, you can get yourself killed” Most importantly you can get me killed. He

closed the door

“You care after all”

“No I don’t, I just said that because I cannot drive”

“Sure?” he said

“I don’t care”

“I already heard you” he widened his eyes at me, maybe I came out to strong.

“I wanted to be sure you did, that’s all” maybe you should forgive him, and what has he done to earn my forgiveness, he bought you that huge teddy, oh, that means nothing, Oh God, when do you plan on forgiving him, Simple when he does something that is worth my forgiveness, and the letters? sweet but simple, how long does it have to be, I don’t know, Just forgive. I breathed out.
