Chapter 29 The Unexpected Truth
Evelyn's POV
"Alpha Evelyn, we have caught the intruder." The Werewolf warriors approached me and looked at me.
Judy was being held down on the ground. She was writhing frantically, with a fierce expression.
I couldn't understand why she did this. It didn't benefit her in any way.
"No wonder you're not with Wyatt anymore. Let me guess, you have a new man, right?" Judy lifted her head and looked at me, emitting a sinister laugh.
"What are you talking about?" I didn't understand what she meant at all.
During this period, everything I did was well thought out. I never had the intention of being with any other Alpha.
"Are you still playing dumb? You cheat on Wyatt with his best friend before you get divorced. How can you accuse Wyatt of betraying you?" Judy raised her voice.
Now I saw her point. She was talking about that man.
Judy must have seen him and even mistook him for Bennett.
Although I lived in the same building as Bennett now, I'd hardly seen him since we met last time. Judy's accusation was way off base.
She was still pinned down on the ground, yet clapping her hands.
"Evelyn, I've got to hand it to you. You're one crafty lady." Judy looked at me, her expression looked even more insane.
"I was wondering why you were so lucky, surviving every crisis. Turns out, you were playing both of them at the same time!"
I didn't know what she was driving at, but the wild look on her face said there was more to this.
And then it hit me.
"So, you're the one who released the mad wolf in the cave last time, right?" I stared into her eyes.
"Yes. So what?" Judy grinned back at me and burst into laughter.
"I've always despised women like you who only appear to be innocent! You're just a bitch!"
I made a gesture, signaling for the warriors to press her harder. I didn't want to see her face anymore.
Judy screamed in pain but still managed to lift her chin and point toward the camera placed beside her.
"Just kill me if you dare!" She shouted, "I've already posted the video online. Everyone will soon find you having sex with another man. So will Wyatt."
Thinking of Wyatt gave me a headache.
I didn't really care about how Wyatt would react. He was the one who had been unfaithful. But if this blew up, I might not be the only one affected.
Wyatt's grandmother might get hurt.
After all, she helped me a lot, and I never wanted to see her upset. I couldn't even imagine how terrible she would feel if she saw all of this.
I had to do something about it.
"Boss!" Alex walked out of the elevator. He looked at Judy lying on the ground and was so shocked that his suitcase fell to the floor.
Alex shouted, "The Moon Goddess! What happened here?"
I waved my hand, gesturing for the werewolf warriors to take Judy away. I didn't want to see her anymore, at least for now.
"There's something I need you to do, in the company's name," I sighed.
This was the best plan I could come up with to prevent things from getting worse.
I took a deep breath and said, "First, announce that I am divorced. Second, make it clear that Bennett and I are just neighbors. Anyone who keeps spreading rumors using these incidents to push them will face legal action from me."
"Alright, boss. I understand." He nodded.
I sighed. I was just so exhausted and trying to put all this behind me. But reality didn't allow me that luxury.
I turned around and forcefully pushed open the door.
"Are you still here?" I asked.
No one answered, so I flipped the switch.
The room instantly lit up, and there was no one inside.
Now, it felt incredibly empty. The messy bed was the only sign that someone had been there. I wondered if anything did happen, or if it was just a dream.
He should have already left by now.
This gave me a sigh of relief.
I knew this could be something I couldn't bear. Even if my curiosity got the best of me, this situation was definitely better for now.
It was late at night, and my mind was blank. I returned to the room and lay back down on the bed, attempting to forget everything.
When the sun rose again, I pushed open the door. I stretched my body, feeling like I didn't want to move at all.
But then, I happened to see Bennett standing at the door as well.
He had a very visible, deep red colored hickey on the knot of his throat.
