Chapter 30 Hidden Love

Evelyn's POV

I widened my eyes, hardly believing what I was seeing.

I wondered, 'How was this possible?'

I looked at Bennett's neck in astonishment, trying my best to make myself less surprised.

That was definitely a hickey, probably from last night. What an incredible coincidence.

Bennett couldn't be the man.

I mean, people said he had got a fiancée. Maybe they were together last night.

I tried to tell myself to stop thinking about it, but I just kept looking at him.

I thought, 'What am I doing? How can I imagine my savior that way? He helped me, which was out of his upbringing as an Alpha. I shouldn't think of him that way. It was a complete disrespect to the great Alpha's actions.'

Guilt came over me. I was being unfair to him.

But if I stayed by his side now, I would definitely cause him trouble. I have to leave immediately.

I smiled politely at Bennett and rushed out, even though it meant taking a long detour.

I just couldn't hang around Bennett anymore.

In fact, if it wasn't for Wyatt's reminder, I would have forgotten that my period was already delayed.

So, before getting on the plane, I made an appointment for a medical check-up. I needed to find out if I was pregnant.

After all, I had slept with that man so many times. And I got to figure it out.

But instead of waiting for the test results, I wanted to find out with a pregnancy test. However, when I arrived home, I found that the box where I had kept the pregnancy test was empty.

"How could this happen?" I threw the box on the ground.

There wasn't even one left at home.

It looked like I should go to the hospital now. I packed my things and quickly left the house.

Bennett's POV

I watched Evelyn as she walked away.

By the time I realized I had been standing there for a while, Alex had already pulled up in the car next to me. I opened the car door and quickly got in.

"Why doesn't she want to admit her feelings?" I asked Alex. I couldn't understand.

We fell into an eerie silence. Eventually, he cautiously said, "Alpha, maybe she's just afraid. Perhaps she's not ready to face her feelings for you yet."

Alex made a valid point. After all, it was complicated between Evelyn and me. I knew why she wanted to avoid me.

"Alright, then I'll give her some more time," I said.

No one could take her away from me this time.

To tell the truth, I had been falling for Evelyn since middle school.

I couldn't take my eyes off her. She was... She was just that captivating.

The attraction I felt for Evelyn went beyond a mere mate bond. I knew for sure she was the only one I would marry in this lifetime, no matter if she was the Luna that the Moon Goddess appointed.

But I would never hurt Evelyn; I only wanted to see her happy.

So, all I could do was watch her, without letting her know how I felt, for it may disturb her.

Because back then, Evelyn was all about Wyatt, just like I did to her.

Everyone in the school knew how much she liked Wyatt.

Evelyn's care for Wyatt made me feel upset. But Wyatt was my childhood friend, and I couldn't harm him either. So when they got married, I just offered my blessings.

It was hard to describe the feeling; my heart was in such pain. I wouldn't let anything like that happen again.

"Alpha, Dr. Xaiere, the specialist in psychological trauma and brain amnesia, is waiting at the hospital. Shall we go now?" Alex's voice brought me back to reality.

I turned to him, trying to regain my composure.

"Okay," I replied quickly.

I was eager to sort this out. If Evelyn could get better, things would be simpler. And I wouldn't have to worry about Wyatt's feelings.

The car slowly started, but my mind was still occupied with her. I couldn't wait anymore.

"Oh no, someone's in front!" Alex called me back to reality once again.

I looked up to watch ahead. It was Wyatt.

His car was in the way, stopping me from going forward.

Inside the car, Wyatt looked fiercely terrifying.
