The Pleasing Man

I looked up in surprise, I glanced annoyed at that very moment. "Have you gone mad? When I only offended Xezedha with my words, you rushed to get angry with me and made me apologise to her. Yet when your future child's condition is threatened, you condone that woman's actions and apologise for her actions. Do you have to lose your child first before you realise that that woman has done a lot wrong?"

"Instead of arguing about this, you should think about your own condition and that of the child in your womb. I'm not in the mood to argue right now because I have something to do, so you better stay here while Afrow looks after you," James said as he stood up.

Before James stood up I asked him first. "Where are you going? What are you leaving early like this for? Maybe it's still at.... 2am? Or 3am? I don't know."

James with a tired look, "did you forget that werewolves are even more active at night? Never mind, don't waste my time because I have a lot to take care of right now."

When there was a gust of wind that felt quite heavy in a split second at that very moment she disappeared from my sight. Is this what is called jetlag? No, it's far from it. I was still not used to the atmosphere in the werewolf world, I had forgotten that the man who had just talked to me was a werewolf instead of a pure human.

I sat and pondered alone in the room, I forgot many things that I should prioritise as a human. I wanted to go back to my world although that didn't mean I wanted to go back with my pathetic family, I just wanted to live freely and normally like any other human being. If I wait until this baby is born then I'll have to wait for a long time, then I'll have to refocus on school to find an alternative way to get out of here.

I started thinking about going to find out about ways to get out of this world. I came here in a strange way or you could say a magical way, so it's likely that I can also leave this place in a similar way. I'm completely clueless about magical things but if I look into it, I might be able to find some useful information.

I got off the bed and planned to leave the room, but just as I reached the door, Afrow was already standing there with his arm around me. I guessed that he was probably guarding me from outside the room.

"Afrow? What are you doing here?" I asked in surprise.

"Please forgive my presumptuous behaviour Mrs. Aluna. In order to prevent anything from happening to you I decided to keep watch in front of your room, and I'm sorry if I ask you, what did you come out of your room for again? This time of the year should be used for sleeping, not for wandering around out there," said Afrow.

I chuckled softly. "I can't sleep if I've been woken up once, so instead of forcing myself to sleep and just wriggling around on the bed, I'd rather find some entertainment while I wait until I get sleepy."

Afrow raised one eyebrow and asked again. "Really? If I may know what kind of entertainment you want? I will help you to find that entertainment if you wish."

"I just want to go to the library for a while, a place this large must have a library right? I'm so bored and I beg you to let me go there," I pleaded.

Afrow nodded and smiled simply. "There's nothing you can't do as long as it doesn't harm you and your foetus. Alright then we can head to the library now."

It was easy to persuade Afrow if it wasn't for strange requests. I got to thinking here who is my partner right now, if I look at it between the two of them Afrow is much more deserving to be the father of this baby. Because he treats me very gently and is also very pleasing to me. Isn't it typical that a good father is one who can protect and give happiness, not just feed?

I continued to follow behind Afrow. This man was actually James' right-hand man, but why didn't he come with James when James had some business?

"Do you have something to say?" asked Afrow.

The atmosphere that had been quiet changed when Afrow threw a question at me. I was so amazed by him extraordinary sensitivity. Even though I was behind him and didn't make any different movements, he could sense that I was actually trying to talk to him.

"James said werewolves can't read my heart, but how did you know I wanted to talk to you?" I asked baiting him.

"Oh, that's the thing... Actually, werewolves have sensibilities, we can see your movements. Our vision has an angle and distance that is not the same as humans," Afrow explained.

"I see. Hm, so actually I'm curious about... You're James' right hand man but why don't you go with him when he has business?" I asked again.

"An Alpha in a pack must have many subordinates, so King Alpha's right-hand man is not just me. For your guardianship, King Alpha specifically left it to me. Sorry Madam, I don't mean to brag. But out of King Alpha's many subordinates, I am the only one who does not give off pheromones that make you upset, and you seem to be more at ease with me than with others. That's why Lord King Alpha doesn't want to choose another Betha to guard you other than me unless it's at a distance."

I nodded in understanding. I had thought that an Alpha only had one right hand, but that was not the case. It's good that only Afrow was told to guard me in close quarters, so I don't have to adjust to other werewolves, plus I don't feel that other werewolves besides Afrow like me. Is it because I'm a human? Tsk they're all so racist.

"We're here, do you want to see the library or do you want to read all the books at once?" Afrow asked.

I paused for a moment, as I stepped inside I looked at the vast and magnificent library. I estimate that there are more than thousands of books here, it would take more than decades to read them all by myself. It's bigger than the library at Oxford or any other library.

"Gosh this place is huge," I muttered in awe. "I want to read everything, but I only need to read a few books."

"Hm? What kind of books are you looking for?"
