How He Know?
A bright day in the morning I woke up so early, just because of a ray of light coming through my bedroom window. Maybe it's also because of my memories as Aluna in the human world, so I'm used to continuing to wake up early even though I'm already gripped by fatigue and sleepiness from staying up too late.
I hurriedly went to the bathhouse to clean my body. At first, I was served by the many maids here, but I deliberately requested that I not be served for things that were too personal like bathing and preparing clothes. Since I'm the type of person who doesn't really like to be touched by others whether it's a woman or a man, I asked them not to come into my room while I was bathing or help me while I was bathing.
After I finished bathing I opened the wardrobe and looked at the collection of clothes there. I'm not the type of person who likes historical things, but since the situation I'm in now is like this then I'm forced to accept simple things like this even though it's not in accordance with my habits.
"How was last night Mrs. lazy?"
I turned around and found James already standing behind me and was tidying up his clothes in front of the mirror. Seeing that I hurriedly fixed the towel covering my body, he who saw that just snorted in a mocking tone. Her sardonic gaze was something I was used to seeing and it looked strange when she wasn't looking at me sarcastically.
"What do you mean by saying I'm like that? Would you yourself tell me to take care of this womb and not do much heavy lifting? Before knowing you I was a hard-working person and didn't like to depend on others. So don't you get big-headed and think I can't live without the facilities here," I said rudely and didn't want to be outdone.
James' gaze changed and wasn't what it used to be and now I couldn't even read his eyes. What exactly did that look mean? It was like someone who didn't understand but also like someone who felt strange towards others.
"You're thinking too far. I wasn't talking in that direction, you misunderstood and thought that I was mocking you. What I'm saying is why were you intentionally alone with Afrow last night in the library until such a late hour? What was the need for you to linger there with him?" James questioned me relentlessly.
I could only stare at him with a stunned and slightly gaped look as I heard the persistent questions. I looked away and was silent for a while as I thought about how he knew that Afrow and I went to the library last night alone without anyone else but us. Come to think of it, there was no way that Afrow had explained everything to James.
"Your question really pricked my feelings. I went there with him just to read a book. Is there anything wrong with two people going to the library and reading books? Do you think there would be two people copulating in the library just because no one saw them? You're so weird," I sneered at James.
James actually laughed at my words, I thought this time he would swear at me and say harsh words after I sneered at him like before. But in fact he responded casually or maybe this time he was just acting.
"Where did you learn how to talk like that? I thought an Aluna could only stare sadly at others while begging not to be scolded, it turns out that the more here you get bolder and lately the words that come out of your mouth all sound scathing," James said commenting on me.
"What business do you have commenting on me like that? Didn't you start this argument yourself? Just now you questioned me in a very unpleasant tone about why I was alone with Afrow in the library. So that was my answer to your question," I retorted even more harshly.
"Apparently you're still with that stubbornness of yours. You should remember that when I scolded you yesterday, instead of improving your attitude, you became even more unruly. But never mind, people like you will never change and will only continue to rebel like a dog that does not obey its master," said James.
The longer I listened to James' words, the more fed up I felt. I just wanted to enjoy the morning more quietly without any interference from the man who always said harsh words. But it turned out that he was already hanging out in my room early in the morning, even though it was clear that he and I had our own rooms, and he shouldn't bother me here.
"You're getting impudent, you should have listened to me instead of just walking away," James said as he quickened his pace after me.
I, who was just about to open the door out of the room, was held back by James. He looked at me sharply and gripped my hand more firmly. People like James are psychopaths in my opinion, because he likes to talk in circles and only wants to find fault with others.
"Then what do you want? Isn't it good that I relented by not replying to your words?" I said feeling tired.
"You should have listened to me obediently instead of leaving me like this. Even though you're doing an important task for me, that doesn't mean I'm allowing you to trample on my pride," James said.
"Oh yeah? Alright, I'll listen to you. Now insult me all you want, and spit on me if you want," I retorted angrily while thrusting my face.
"Tsk, the conversation will always be difficult with you. I was just going to ask why you went with Afrow to the library. But it got this big," James said.
I rolled my eyes lazily. "I told you I only read books with him there. I was bored all day. I only read books and that's already a problem here, my days here are so sickening."
James looked up and back at me after groaning loudly. "Well, I take it you didn't do anything silly. What am I reading those silly books for? Are you planning on running away from here?"
I gasped in shock, I didn't expect James' suspicions to surface this quickly. It hadn't even been half a day since I kept that book down there, yet he was already checking that much detail and started to assume that I was indeed planning to leave this place.
I organised my emotions and spoke again. "What do you mean by that? I don't even understand what you're saying at all. I'm just interested in magical things, that's all, nothing more and nothing less. What can a human with no powers like me do anyway?"
