An Uneasy Life
"Xezedha, if you keep bothering me then I might complain to James about this. I know I'm nothing to James, but these babies could get you out of here. Do you understand?" I intimidated Xezedha with my gaze while puffing out my chest in front of her.
"How dare you, did the punishment James gave you yesterday not make you come to your senses?" asked Xezedha while patronising me.
"Don't get big-headed, after all, what's in it for you to keep following behind me? Since the first day we met, I've had no peace of mind. There's always trouble and it all comes from you," I said. "I don't want to deal with you anymore. Besides, you don't have to be afraid that I'm going to take James away from you. I'll just be here until the baby is born."
I took a breath and resumed my speech. "After that I won't interfere with your romance or anything, and I'm not even asking for anything from this castle. I'll go out and live quietly out there."
"Woah, it seems like you're already planning to get out of here. It turns out that you really want to build a happy household outside this castle. Who will you get married to? With a kind werewolf who always helps you? It turns out that a little girl wants a kind prince who always helps her," Xezedha said sarcastically.
I knew Xezedha was satirising me, she didn't even bother to put on a shameless face, occasionally she glanced over and gave an amused smile. I just made an indifferent face and snorted briefly.
"Right, I will later live happily and get married outside the castle. This castle is too stuffy for me who likes free air and doesn't like fighting over wealth and power," I said back at Xezedha.
Although I didn't put up much of a fight, that didn't mean I would just stand by and let Xezedha continue to insult me. Xezedha did have the power to exclude me, but that's also why I didn't want to bow down under her words. I wasn't expecting anything here anyway, just a temporary shelter and to avoid trouble if I ran away from James with the babies.
Xezedha chuckled when I said that, she must not be able to reply to my words because if she did that she would be indirectly agreeing that she was one of the castle dwellers who were fighting for power here. I'm never wrong in my choice of words.
"It turns out that you are so arrogant when you have a little power, what happens if you lose your small and weak power?" Xezedha said before I was completely away from her.
I stopped and looked away, those words sounded unnerving to me. Not in the sense that I was offended or I felt cornered, I felt Xezedha had an intention with her words. My hand reflexively stroked my belly, like a sign or premonition that there was something Xezedha was planning to do to the babies inside my foetus.
"What do you mean, can you make it clear?" I asked in an interrogating tone.
"Oh? Hahaha. You think you have the right to ask me that. Whatever I want to do is up to me," Xezedha said then left from the opposite direction to me.
I no longer replied to Xezedha's words, I let her go towards another door in the castle. I don't know why my heart shrank, I don't know why I decided to continue the argument, was this a mother's instinct that was telling me that there was a danger that was about to threaten the safety of my babies?
After crossing paths with Xezedha, I immediately went to the park and sat there. I didn't see any guards around me, I originally thought I would be escorted by dozens of werewolves and make me feel even more unfree. It turns out that I can sit this quietly here alone.
Since this morning until now, I have not seen Afrow's figure passing around the castle hallway or meeting me who is sitting casually here. Oh no, of course I'm not missing him, that would be ridiculous and embarrassing. It's just that I'm surprised because she would usually be right around me when I'm alone or looking for her.
"Good morning, Mrs Aluna. Here are the dishes for your breakfast this morning."
Several waiters brought out a large portion of food. I thought that the entire meal would be for several people, but the strange thing was that there was only one empty plate. I was a little surprised, and I had the urge to ask.
"Excuse me, why is there only one empty plate? Aren't there several people who will be eating here?" I asked trying to make sure.
They looked at each other for a moment and then smiled at me. "Not so, Mrs. This meal is entirely for you. That's why we only brought one plate. Perhaps you misunderstood that there would be other people eating here as well."
I rounded my mouth while holding back my embarrassment. I felt my hot face turning red in front of all of them. But isn't it natural for me to think that because of the large portion of food? Do they think I'm a greedy girl?
"Well... But I just think that the food brought for me is too much," I said as I gently pushed several plates of food in front of me.
"That's fine, there are more ingredients in the kitchen that haven't been cooked yet anyway. And Mr King Alpha actually ordered us to cook this much food for you. If you don't finish it, that's fine too, we'll take care of it later," said one of the servants.
"Oh, alright. Thank you for the meal, I'll eat it," I said as I picked up a spoon and fork that was already there.
"We'll take our leave, bon appetit Mrs."
They sequentially left the park and left me alone there, me who was now alone could only stare at the food in confusion. Have you ever been hungry and then served so much food that it's more than you can eat and makes you feel full before you eat it? That's how I felt right now.
I picked up my fork and stabbed a small piece of chicken. It looked so delicious, I opened my mouth and tried to eat it.
"Wait, Mrs. The food must be checked first."
I was startled, the familiar voice made me turn my head and sure enough now Afrow was standing beside me.
"Oh? Afrow. It turns out you're here, I was looking for you and didn't find you, where have you been?" I asked happily.
