Chapter Ten - What have we gotten ourselves into?
Farrah
I pulled up outside of school, alone. Asher texts me to say he wouldn’t need a lift, after all, one of his friends picked him up. I didn’t mind, though. I was meeting Violet before class since we had first class together, we had most classes together. I saw Maisie and her friends, so I quickly got out of the car and rushed inside before they had a chance to notice me. Violet was waiting by my locker for me. Violet knows that Asher and I were only kidding to be together.
“Hey,” I smiled.
“Hey, no Asher this morning,” She giggled.
“No,” I laughed, “We broke up,” I added, fake pouting.
The two of us laughed, and I opened my locker to put my things in that I don’t need until later. I closed my locker over and was about to say something to Violet, but before I could.
“Hey, babe,”
I hear from behind me, and a pair of hands on my hips. I squealed, dropping my books. I hear a chuckle and soon realise who it was. Asher!
He used his hold on my hips to turn me around to face him, pulling my body to his. What is he doing? He is acting the same way he was acting around me yesterday; you know when we were pretend dating!
“Asher, what are you doing?” I whispered.
“What does it look like?” He asked.
“Like we are still together, and the plan was only for a day,” I said.
“You see, I thought about that, and we haven’t broken up after all,” He smirked.
Wait. What? No, that was not the deal. The deal was one day.
“No, we have,” I said, “I am not lying for another day,” I added.
Why does he think this is a good idea? Does he realise that if we do this for longer than I am probably going to more hassle from Maisie and her friends? It is alright for him; everyone knows him. And by what I have learned the last couple of days, no one seems to mess with him, and most of the girls want him, so he had nothing to worry about.
“Aww come on baby girl, at least until the end of the week,” He pouted.
“No,” I giggled, pushing him away from me.
“But pwease?” He said, pulling me back to him.
I do not understand why he is doing this. I am sure he could get any girl to be his girlfriend if that is what he wanted. Then again, he doesn’t do girlfriends, so I don’t know what he is doing. Maybe he is bored.
“No, not happening,” I laughed.
“Hmm, OK, I will let it be for now,” He said, letting me go, “I will see you in class,” He added and walked away.
Yeah, Asher just walk away and make me pick my books back up, even though it was your fault. I groaned, rolling my eyes and bend down to pick them up. When I got back to my feet, Violet looked at me, and I swear she was smirking.
“What?” I asked.
“I think he likes you,” She said.
“Trust me, he doesn’t,” I said, shaking my head.
She did not look convinced, but I knew it was true. I rolled my eyes at her, and we headed too class. Asher was sitting up the back with his friends. He looked at me, winking as I entered. I blushed, looking at the floor and sat on my seat at the front of the class.
Maisie and her friends came in only moments later, Maisie growling at me as she did. I ignored her, and she headed up the back and straight for Asher. I know she was doing that to try and get to me. It wouldn’t work though. Asher doesn’t want me. I don’t want him, well, that is what I will keep telling myself. I don’t even know what I want anymore.
“You want to hang out after school, I have the house to myself,” I hear her purr.
I know I shouldn’t, but I was listening to see how Asher would respond. I am sure he will say yes.
“Maisie, we have been through this, I am done with you,” He said, “I have a better offer anyway,” He added.
“What little miss prude that you will get nothing from?” She hissed.
“Maisie, you have no fucking clue what you are talking about, just leave me alone, OK?” He said, sounding annoyed.
I slummed down in my chair. I didn’t want to cause anyone, any trouble. That is another reason it was best our pretend thing only lasted one day. It would probably be best for everyone if I keep a distance from him. It would be best for me. I am new here, and I do not need a target on my back. I would rather stay invisible.
I was glad when the teacher came in because all conversation stopped. Yes, that is better.

Violet and I were sitting having lunch. But soon enough we were not alone because Asher showed up, sitting at the table with a couple of his friends.
“Can I help you?” I laughed.
“How rude!” He chuckled, “This is Lennon and Stuart, guys this is Farrah and Violet,” He added, introducing us.
Violet and I gave them an awkward wave, both blushing. It was good to have an awkward friend just like myself. It was good having a friend in general. The three guys chuckle, which makes us blush harder. God, how embarrassing!
“So, I think you should come out with me tonight, Farrah,” Asher said, looking straight at me.
“Um, why?” I asked, “I am sure you have better things to do,” I added.
“Because I want you too,” He said matter-of-factly, “And because you need to stop being so boring, no offence. Violet can come too,” He added.
I turned to Violet, who had panic writer over her face. I will take that as she doesn’t want to go.
“Sorry, we have plans of our own,” I said.
It was a lie, we didn’t have any plans, but we could make them if it got us out of this.
“And what plans would that be?” Asher said, resting back on the chair, smirking.
I needed to come up with something and quick.
“Bowling and pizza,” I said quickly.
“I don’t believe you have made any plans,” He said, “It is not nice lying, you know, baby girl,” He added.
I hated lying, but right now, I think I would stick to it. I do not need to spend any more time with him than required. Asher got up from the seat across from me and came around to sit next to me, placing his hand on my knee.
“Come on, Farrah, let me corrupt you, even just a little,” He said.
“Yes, because you telling me you want to corrupt me is going to make me want to come more,” I said sarcastically.
I do not want to imagine how he could corrupt me. I am sure he could get me into trouble quickly if he honestly wanted too.
“I promise not to corrupt your innocent, pure mind too soon, if you come out with us tonight, both of you,” He said firmly looking between us.
I had a feeling he wasn’t going to take no for an answer. I sighed, turning to Violet, who laughed and rolled her eyes. I think she was thinking the same as me; he wasn’t giving up. I don’t want to go, not really, but I would feel better going if Violet came with me. She gave me a small nod.
“Fine, but no drink, drug, sex or trouble has to be involved,” I said.
Sex? Why did I need to mention that? I feel the heat rise back on my cheeks and my neck.
“I promise, none of the list will be involved, we are just going to hang out at Stuart’s place. He has a pool, and a game room and whatnot,” Asher said, “Well, there will be weed involved, but obviously we don’t expect either of you to smoke that,” He added laughing.
I don’t know if a house is better than somewhere else, but surely his parents will be there? I hope. I sighed. Why did I agree to this? Oh, that’s right because I would be getting annoyed for the rest of the day if I refused.
“Better bring your bikinis with you,” Stuart said, smirking.
“Not happening,” Violet and I said in sync.
There is no chance I am wearing only a bikini around them. I will not be swimming.
“It was worth a shot,” Stuart chuckled.
“Right, do you want to pick me up then around six? And then we can head over?” Asher said.
I nodded and smiled. What is the worst that can happen? We are only hanging out, right? Asher was right; I did need to be less boring. I was seventeen, and I should be enjoying life more than I am, but not over the top.
“Awesome! See you then, sweetness,” He said.
The guys said a quick goodbye to us before heading off.
“What have we gotten ourselves into?” I asked.
“I do not know, but I am sure it won’t be that bad,” Violet smiled.
I hope she was right. I don’t want to end up regretting, agreeing to this.
