Chapter Fifty Seven - A secret between friends...

(Hello, everyone, I hope that you are all well. I am getting down to the last few chapters of this book because I think it has ran it's course. I am struggling with the last chapters to be honest :( There will not be a second book, but I will have new books coming in the future)

Asher

I was over at Stuart’s. We were in his room playing the Xbox and having a couple of beers. Farrah and Violet would be over later.

“Can you believe we only have a couple of months left until high school finishes?” he said, “What are your plans for after?”

“I am going to find full-time work and stay in town,”

I would love to get away from this stupid place, but I couldn’t leave my grandma, and she was too old to move her life somewhere else.

“You don’t want to go to college? Even locally,”

“Nah, I would rather work. I could go to college later in life,” I shrugged.

“But what will happen with you and Farrah?”

“We will work something out. I know she is going to college, and I wouldn’t want to get in the way of that. If we need to do long distance then so be it,”

I hadn’t yet told my grandma I was staying here. I know she won’t be happy, but it is what I need to do. I needed to take care of her. Farrah and I have talked about it briefly, but not in detail.

“I am sure you will work it out,” he said.

“Yes. What about you? Are you still going to LA?”

“Yes, and luckily that is where Violet is going too,” he smiled.

“That is good,”

I am glad they had everything sorted out. We got back to the game, and after about ten minutes.

“Do you think I am too young to get married?” he blurted out.

Married? I paused the game and flung my head around to face him.

“Married?” I asked, shocked.

“Yes. I am thinking about asking Violet to marry me after graduation,” he replied, “And I know we are still young, but both my gut and heart tell me she is the one for me,”

Oh wow, I sure wasn’t expecting this.

“Really? Are you ready for that? Is Violet ready for that?”

“I am ready, yes. We don’t need to get married for a couple of years; just knowing that it will happen will be enough,” he said, “Do you think I am crazy thinking about it?”

“Buddy, if that is what you want, then go for it,” I smiled, “When you know, you know,”

“Thank you. Don’t say anything, OK? I don’t want anyone to find out. Plus, I am still thinking on it, you know?”

“Your secret is safe with me,” I smiled and patted his shoulder.

I don’t know what her parents would think about it, though. But, then again, she is eighteen and leaving home, so they can’t say much if she says yes.

“Cheers, mate,” he grinned.
Stuart and I got back to the game, getting lost in the game until we heard the girls call out. They were a way to see a movie tonight. It was some chick flick, and thankfully they let us miss out rather than torturing us.

They came into his room, and both smiled brightly at us.

“Did you miss us?” Farrah giggled.

“Always, my love,” I replied.

Farrah came over to sit next to me, but instead, I pulled her onto my knee and kissed her softly.

“What have we missed?” Violet questioned as she sat down.

Stuart and I looked at one and another.

“Nothing much. We played our game, had some beers and talked random crap, you know, the usual,” I laughed, “How was the movie?”

“Great! The perfect love story,” Farrah gushed.

“Yes,” Violet agreed, “But now, it is time for us girls to whip your guy’s asses on the Xbox,” she added confidently.

Violet had the right to be confident in her words. She and Farrah have bet us more than either of us would like to admit.

“Nah, I think we have had enough of playing for one night,” Stuart chuckled.

“No, you mean you are scared in case we beat you again,”

We could protest that wasn’t the case, but we all know it is. I handed my controller to Violet so she could go against Stuart. I turned my attention to my girl.

“I missed you,” I pouted.

“Aww, I missed you too, love,” Farrah replied and kissed me.

Once we parted, she cuddled into my chest. I put my arms around her and played with her hair as we watched the other’s play. I kissed the top of her. She looked up at me with the most beautiful smile resting on her lips.

I don’t know how we will cope with the long-distance thing if that is what it comes down to. I miss her if I don’t see her for a day, never mind not seeing her for weeks at a time. I don’t want to think or worry about that right now. We still have a couple of months of school and the summer holidays. We will work it out.

Farrah and I had just left Stuart’s place, and Violet was staying with him.

“What do you want to do now, sweetness?” I asked, “You still have an hour before you need to go home,”

“Um, I don’t know, but somewhere that is warm because it is cold out tonight,” she replied as she shivered.

“We can go to mine,” I suggested.

Grandma will be sleeping anyway. Farrah nodded her head. I placed the hand on the small of her back and guided her towards the car.

I was tempted to say we could talk about the plan after graduating, but then I changed my mind. I would rather just be with Farrah tonight. We can discuss everything at a later date.

Once I got the car started, Farrah rested her head on my shoulder.

“Are you tired, baby girl?”

“Yes, exhausted. My brain is fried from all the studying,” she laughed.

“Do you want me to take you home so you can get sleep,”

“No, I will be OK. I want cuddles, and I can’t get them if I go home to bed,” she pouted.

“I could always sneak in your window. We can go check on Grandma, even though she will probably be sleeping, and then I can drop you off and follow a little while later,”

“Yes, I like the sound of the plan. I like any plan that involves me getting snuggles for the entire night,” she beamed.

“OK, then, that is what we will do,”

“Yay!” she said excitedly.

I chuckled and kissed her forehead.

“You are too cute, Farrah,”

“I know, as cute as a button,” she snickered.

God, I loved this damn girl so much. I don’t care what I need to do. I am not losing her! I feel like I have known her my entire life when in reality, it hasn’t even been a year yet.

“I love you,”

“I love you too, baby boy,” she replied and snuggled back in.

I understand Stuart’s wanting to marry Violet because I swear, I would probably do the same if I knew that was what she wanted. It is crazy, really, thinking about getting married while still in high school.

I don’t think I could ever have predicted how much my entire life would change when Farrah showed up. Now, I wouldn’t change a thing.
