Epilogue - Two years later

*** Two years later ***

Asher

I was standing against my car, waiting for Farrah to come out of the last class since she only had a half-day today. I am desperate to see her. I was away home to spend time with Grandma this weekend. Sadly, Farrah could come with me because she had too much work to do. I had missed her like crazy! We hadn’t been apart longer than one night since we moved to Chicago, so not seeing her for nearly four days sucked! She wasn’t expecting me back until tonight. I got an earlier flight to surprise her. Farrah would be happy to see me and glad to know grandma is doing well.

I watch as students exit the building, some of who I recognise from Farrah’s class which means she should be on her way too. And then I see her, my breath catching in my throat the second I do. Damn, she is beautiful! I swear she gets more beautiful every time I see her. She is oblivious that I was here and goes to walk straight by me since she is walking with her head down.

“How rude, sweetness.” I laugh.

Suddenly Farrah stops in her tracks, swings around, and her eyes finally fall on me, and the biggest smile grows on her lips.

“Asher!” she squeals, making everyone look at her, but she doesn’t seem to care.

She ran towards me and jumped on me, thankfully I caught her. Farrah wraps her arms and legs around me, kissing me over and over. I hold her tightly and kiss her back.

“I missed you.” She pouts as our lips parted, “I thought you weren’t back until tonight?”

“I missed you too, my love. I decided to come home earlier because I hated being away from you.” I respond, setting her down on her feet.

“I have so much to tell you.” She beams, stealing another kiss, “And I need some alone time with my man. My nights have been lonely.” She adds with a pout.

“Then how about you tell me on the way home?” I suggest.

She nods, seeming excited about what she has to tell me. I hadn’t been away that long, so it couldn’t be that much she had to say to me. I run around to open the door and let her climb in before getting into the car myself.

“So, what have I missed?” I question as we get the car on the road.

“Firstly, I got a phone call this morning. It turns out the venue we wanted for our wedding next year and couldn’t have an open space. Someone cancelled their wedding. All we need to do is call them back with the deposit.” She beams.

Yes, we are getting married at the end of next year. I proposed six months ago, and we decided on a date after Farrah’s graduation.

“Really? That is amazing! We will call as soon as we get home and book it. I know how much you loved the place, and I did too.” I reply, matching her excitement.

I am glad to hear that because Farrah completely fell in love with the place. It was a beautiful hotel, and we could get married outside by the stunning water fountain.
“And secondly. Stuart and Violet are coming back next month and staying for good.” She grins.

Violet and Stuart decided college wasn’t for them after all. Instead, they got married six months after our graduation and decided to travel the world, working along the way to make money. They came back occasionally but not often, and we missed them.

“That is great news! It will be nice to have them back.” I smile.

“I think that is everything. How is grandma?” she asks.

“Grandma is doing great! She spends most days at her club now and loves it. It gets her out of the house and keeps her busy.” I answer.

“Aww, that is good! I can wait to get home in a couple of weeks to see everyone.”

We were heading back for a week while Farrah was on spring break. She is doing fantastic at college, and it has helped with her confidence. I am very proud of my beautiful fiancée.

Farrah reaches over, resting her head on my shoulder. I slip my free arm around her and kiss the top of her head.

“I really did miss you, Asher.” She whispers, nuzzling my neck.

“I know, love, and I missed you so much. I don’t want to be apart for that long again. I know it was only four days, but it felt like weeks.” I sigh.

“Yes, it did, but look on the bright side. We have the rest of our lives together. And next year, I will officially be your wife and one day the mother of your children.” She said, looking up at me, a massive smile on her lips.
“I can’t wait, baby girl…” I trail off.

I would marry her tomorrow if I could, but she wanted to graduate first, and I respect that. I never thought I would meet the love of my life, my future wife, in high school, but here we are. I wouldn’t change a damn thing!

I know some people will believe it will never work or last, but they can all go screw themselves because Farrah and I know it will, and that is all that matters. I will have the family I never really had. The thing is, I don’t even miss my “parents” because my grandma was everything I needed growing up, and now I have Farrah. I will never do to Farrah, to my kids, what my parents did to me. And because of my past, I plan on being the best husband for Farrah and the best father to my kids.

Some people’s past break them, and mine nearly did, but I refuse to be one of those people, and I have Farrah to thank for that. I am more than ready to spend the rest of my life with her, and nothing or no one is going to get in the way of that.

I will make a happy life for myself and my family. The past can go to hell! It was Farrah and me now, so I finally have everything I need in life.
