Chapter Twenty Nine - I will get them back for this...
Asher
I have been avoiding school, and everyone, including Farrah, since the party the other night. I wasn’t in the mood for anyone’s company. I couldn’t face Farrah, not after the state that she apparently saw me in. I don’t remember much, but Stuart told me about it all, including how Farrah drove all the way to pick up, even though it was stupid o’clock in the morning. I was ashamed of myself. I don’t want Farrah seeing me like that, and I am sure after the way she saw me, she wants nothing else to do with me, and I wouldn’t blame her.
It was Friday, and my mood was shit because I knew tonight that Farrah would be going on her date with Paul. If I weren’t such a coward, I would storm over there and try again to stop her from going with him, but it was pointless. I have asked her before, more than once, not to go, but she is still going. Plus, I was just as bad for Farrah as he was, probably worse.
I just hope he doesn’t have some play behind, and if he hurts her in any way, I will hurt him without even thinking about it. I was sulking in my room.
“Asher, son, can I come in?” I hear my Grandma’s voice on the other side of my door.
“Yes, of course,” I replied, sitting up.
My Grandma came in, sitting on the bed next to me.
“Asher, what is going on? You have been miserable for the last few days?” She asked softly.
“I am fine, Grandma,” I smiled.
“No, you aren’t,” She sighs, shaking her head, “I haven’t seen Farrah around. Has that got something to do with it?” She adds.
I was hoping she wouldn’t have noticed that, but I should have known better. My Grandma knows everything.
“Yeah, I messed up again,” I reply.
“And you can’t fix it?” She asked.
“I don’t think so. Even if there was, she can do better than someone like me,” I say, running my fingers through my hair, “And she is going on a date with someone else tonight,” I added.
Paul was right. I had my chance, but I messed it up. I don’t deserve another chance.
“Then why are you sitting here sulking rather than going to her and talking her out of it?” She asks.
“Because I have no right trying to stop it,” I reply, “I had my chance,” I added.
My Grandma gave me a stern look and shook her head.
“That sounds like excuses to me, Asher,” Grandma speaks, “You don’t get the things you want in life by sitting around on your backside,” She added.
I went to protest her words, but she still had that same stern look on her face. I knew what she wanted me to do, and she wouldn’t stop until I do.
“Fine, I will go and see her,” I huff.
“That’s my boy,” Grandma smiles.
She gives me a slight nod before heading out of my room. I hesitantly pulled myself from the bed and headed out to go and see Farrah. She will hopefully still be home. I pulled up outside her house, sitting there for a good ten minutes before finding the courage to go and knock on the front door.
I nervously stood, waiting for someone to answer. It was her father.
“Hey Asher, you just missed Farrah. She left about ten minutes ago,” He smiles.
“Hello,” I smile, “Oh, OK, thanks anyway,” I added.
“I will tell her you stopped by, though,” He says.
“No, it doesn’t matter. I will call her tomorrow,” I reply.
I don’t want Farrah knowing I showed up here. I said a quick goodbye before rushing off. I thought the date wasn’t until later. They must have changed it. Damn it! Maybe this is Karma. If it is, it fucking sucks!
It looks like it is back to being miserable in my bedroom for me for the rest of the night. I got to my car and sat in it. I took my phone from my pocket and opening a text to Farrah. I went to write a text, but I couldn’t get the right words. I groan in frustration and toss my phone onto the driver’s seat.
“Fuck!” I hiss, punching the steering wheel.
Why do I have to be such an idiot! A coward! I have no one to blame but myself. I pulled myself together for the drive home.
“Did you get her?” Grandma asked the moment I walked in.
“No, she is already out on her date,” I say, “I am going to my room,” I added.
I didn’t give her a chance to respond. I ran up to my room. I think I may just hide out in here for the rest of the weekend.

I have spent my night playing the Xbox and sleeping. How exciting for a Friday night. I could have gone out to a party, but I wasn’t in the mood. Maybe I should text Maisie. She would be a good distraction for me. No, I can’t go there, not again.
I checked the time. It was only nine p.m. This has been one of the slowest days of my damn life. I decided an early night was in the cards for me because I have nothing else to do. I got myself organised and getting settled in bed.
The moment I closed my eyes, my phone started ringing. Typical! I search for my phone, checking who it was before answering. I see Farrah’s name on the screen. I quickly answered it.
“Farrah,” I say softly.
“Asher,” She whimpers on the other end.
“Farrah, what’s wrong? Are you OK?” I ask worriedly.
“No, you were right. Paul is a complete jackass,” She sobs, “Will you come and get me please?” She added.
“Where are you? I will be right there,” I reply.
I was going to kill the bastard for upsetting her. Farrah told me where she was. I grabbed my keys, rushing out and going to get her. I drove to where she told me she was. I see her standing outside, and I could tell she was crying. I stopped the car, jumping out and rushing to her.
“Farrah, what happened?” I ask.
“Can we get away from here, please,” She winces.
I nod, wrapping my arm around her and leading her to my car.
“Now, can you please tell me what happened?” I ask softly.
“He was all sweet at first, it was going well,” She said, “And then he tried to kiss me, but I told him, no, but he kept trying, and then he started getting handsy, touching me even though I told him not too,” She added whimpering.
My fists clench, along with my jaw. How dare he! He wasn’t going to getting away with this.
“And then he said it was all for a joke. It was Maisie’s idea, and he was only after one thing. They did it to try and get to you,” She adds in.
“Farrah, I am so sorry, this is all my fault,” I say, “They aren’t going to get away with this,” I added.
“Asher, it isn’t your fault. They are just cruel,” Farrah sighs.
“They had no right doing this too,” I hiss.
Farrah jumps a little when I do.
“Sorry, sweetness, I didn’t mean to scare you,” I say, taking her hand in mine.
“Can we go back to yours, please? I don’t even want to think about it anymore, not tonight,” She whispers, shaking her head.
I nod and head to mine. I will drop it for tonight, but there is no chance in hell Paul is getting away with doing this to her, and neither is Maisie. I will get them both back for doing this to her.
