Chapter Fifty Five - Winter Dance (part 2)
Asher
The dance had been more fun than I would have thought. Everyone was enjoying themselves. There was no drama or bitching. Maisie and her friends had kept their distance, except for the odd glare in our direction. I never thought I would see the day I would be enjoying a dance.
Farrah seemed to be in her element. She looked so beautiful, and I had barely taken my eyes off her all night, even when she was away from me. She was talking to a couple of girls, and I was talking with some friends.
“So, what is going to happen with you and Farrah once school ends?” Jake asked.
“Honestly, I am not sure, but I hope we will stay together,” I smiled.
“Really? Would you not rather be single when going out into the real world?”
“No! I have screwed around enough. I would rather be with Farrah than fucking random girls,” I said.
“You better watch the two of you don’t end up resenting each other,”
Why is it so hard for people to get their heads around that just because we got together in high school and still want to be together once it finishes? I love her, and because we are done with school, that isn’t going to change.
“We won’t,”
I didn’t want to get into this with him, or I may lose my temper. A slow song started coming through the speakers. I walked away and went over to Farrah, resting my hand on the small of her back.
“Dance with me?” I whispered.
Farrah looked over her shoulder at me and smiled.
“Yes,”
She excused herself from her friends. I slipped my arm around her and led us towards the dancefloor. I turned her to face me and slipped my arms around. Farrah rested her head on my shoulder, and we didn’t speak; instead, we just danced along to the music. This felt right, her in my arms.
“Asher, are you OK?” she whispered in my ear.
“Yes, I a fine, my love,” I replied and stroked her hair.
She lifted her head to look at me and puckered her lips. I chuckled but gave her what she wanted. I pressed my lips to hers softly. Once we parted, I stroked the hair away from her eyes.
“Do you still want to be with me after we finish school?” I asked.
“Yes, what made you ask that? Don’t you want that?”
I could see she was trying not to be sad when she asked the question.
“Of course, I want that, beautiful,” I smiled, “It was just something someone mentioned,”
“Asher, someone will always say something, but all that is important is that we know what we want,” she said.
“Exactly! I love you,”
“I love you too, Asher,”
She stole another kiss before we got back to dancing. We danced for that song and then another before we stopped. We joined Stuart and Violet back at the table.
“You want to get out of here? Some people have already left to go to the afterparty,” Stuart suggested.
The dance would be finishing soon anyway. It was up to the girls, though. If they weren’t ready to leave, then we would stay.
“Ladies?” I asked, looking between them.
“I am ready to leave. Farrah?”
“Babe, if you want to stay a little longer, we can,” I smiled.
“No, I am ready to leave, also. We danced, ate, chatted, laughed, and had fun,” Farrah grinned.
The girls gathered their things, and we headed out to the car.

The afterparty was in full swing—we students were on our worst behaviour since there were no adults around. Everyone was letting loose, drinking, dancing, and hooking up. I was drinking, though. I offered to be the driver for a change.
“There you are, love,” Farrah giggled as she approached me.
“Yes, where you left me like a few minutes ago,” I laughed.
“Oh…yes,” she laughed.
Farrah was slightly drunk. She flung her arms around my neck and pressed her lips roughly to mine. I groaned, not expecting such a heated kiss from her. I slipped my arms around her and kissed her back. She parted her lips from mine and attached them to my neck.
“Mmm, I think we should get out of here,” she purred.
“To where?” I moaned.
“Anywhere. I am tired of douches hitting on me,” she huffed.
Who the fuck was hitting on her? No one hits on my girl!
“Who was hitting on you?” I asked through gritted teeth.
“It doesn’t matter, some idiot that doesn’t even go to our school,” she replied and rolled her eyes, “I want to go somewhere, only us,”
“OK, let me ask Stuart if we can take the car,”
We found where they were, to ask for the car and say goodbye to them.
“Text me when you are both are ready to leave, and I will come back get you,” I smiled.
“Will do. Why are you leaving?” he asked.
“Because I want him to myself for a while,” Farrah smirked.
“You kids have fun, be safe now,” he laughed, “And if you use my car, please put something down and clean up after yourself,”
“We will, promise,” I chuckled.
I took Farrah’s hand in mine and led us out. I kept looking around, wondering who she was talking about, but no one was evident. I know I shouldn’t let jealously get the better of me, but I couldn’t help it. A part of me is always going to be worried someone better will come along and steal her away. I know she wouldn’t do that, but it is a fear that doesn’t seem to disappear.
“Where do you want to go?” I asked.
“Oh, can we go get fries and then find somewhere to have a little one-on-one time?”
“We can do whatever you want, sweetness,”
I opened the door and helped her into the car before climbing in myself. Farrah reached over and started massaging my thigh.
“Have I told you how sexy you look tonight in your tux?”
“Maybe once or twice,” I smiled.
“Good, well you do,” she beamed.
“Thanks, beautiful. You look stunning,”
“Aww, thanks, baby boy,” she replied and kissed my cheek.
Farrah rested her head on my shoulder as I drove us to the diner to get our fries. I slipped my free arm around her shoulder and kissed the top of her head. This made her snuggle in closer.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she took a nap because she wasn’t the best at handling her drink. I will leave her too and wake her up when we get there if she does.
