Chapter Twenty Two - Meeting the parents and rules

Farrah

I was in my bedroom freaking out. This was my first official date ever. I was surprised when he asked me on a date. That was the last thing I expected. I wasn’t going to overthink it because it is probably only a one-time thing. I can’t believe my first date is with Asher! He stole my first kiss, and now this. He seems to be stealing my firsts, but I know my limits, so he will not be getting them all, no matter what.

“Um, what happened in here?” I hear my mum laughed.

I turned around and found her standing at my door, looking at the state of my room. I was a clean freak, so my room is not ever like this. I hadn’t seen my mum yet because she was at work.

“I have a date,” I said shyly, rocking on my heels.

“You do?” She asked, smiling, and I nodded, “Oh, that is great, sweetie,” She added.

“Yes, but I am nervous, mum,” I said.

“That is only natural, especially for your first date,” She said, “Who is it with?” She added.

“Asher,” I said.

I had mentioned him to my parents since we have been hanging out as friends.

“I thought you two were only friends?” She chuckled.

“We were, to start with,” I said.

I didn’t want to go into too much detail. My mum doesn’t need to know about the kissing. I will keep that to myself.

“You do know your father will want to meet Asher before he takes you out?” She spoke.

I was hoping he wouldn’t. I don’t think Asher will be too happy about that.

“Do we need to tell dad?” I asked.

My mum gave me a look, and I knew that meant yes, and you know we do.

“Your father is only looking out for you, and if Asher refuses, then you know that will be a cross next to his name on your father’s end,” She said.

I knew what she meant. My dad will take that as a bad thing if Asher refuses to meet him before taking his daughter out.

“I know, but it will be embarrassing, mum. I don’t want him to do that,” I whined.

I know no matter what I said, it wouldn’t work. If Asher didn’t come in and meet my parents, then they will not let me go out with him as quickly.

“What are the plans for your date? Maybe I can help you find something to wear?” She asked.

“Pizza, and bowling, so I don’t need to dress up too much,” I said.

My mum nodded, and she helped me find an outfit. We decided on my blue ripped skinny jeans, a pink short-sleeved tee, ankle boots, and a jacket to match. It was casual and cute.

“Thanks, mum,” I smiled.

“You are welcome,” She said, “I will leave you to get ready,” She added.

My mum left me to get organised. He would be here in an hour, well, if he still wants to on a date after telling him he needs to come inside. I should probably text him before I start getting ready.

*Hey, I have a problem. You may change your mind about tonight when I tell you X

I sighed, waiting for him to text back. He texts back only a moment later.

Hey sweetness, what’s up? Have you changed your mind? X

No, but my parents insist on you coming in to meet them before we go out. If you don’t want to, I get it. I tried to get out of it, but that isn’t going to work X *

I was waiting for him to text back and cancel or not text back at all. I sat on my bed, waiting anxiously. The longer he took, the more I started believing he wasn’t going to text back. I was proven wrong when my phone went.

*That is fine. I will be on my best behaviour, promise 😉 I will see you soon X

See you soon, Asher. And thank you, X *

I smiled to myself. I can’t believe he agreed to this. I hope my father will be nice to him. My father doesn’t need to know about his bad-boy persona. I tossed my phone on my bed and started getting ready. I had already showered, so it was just a case of getting dressed, and my hair and make-up did.

I straightened my hair, keeping my make-up light. I don’t tend to wear much—only some mascara, blusher and lip-gloss. Once I was done, I took a look in the mirror. I wasn’t sure, but it would do. I still don’t understand why Asher is interested in me, especially when girls, much prettier ones, surround him. I need to get that thought out of my head. I was nervous enough without that.

I made sure I had everything before heading downstairs. He would be here soon unless he was running late. I found my parents in the kitchen.

“You look great, sweetie,” Mum smiled, “Beautiful,” She added.

“Thank you,” I said blushing.

“Yes, you do,” dad said, “I hope you told him he is coming in?” He added.

“I did,” I said, trying not to roll my eyes.

“Good,” He said.

I shook my head, laughing. I grabbed a bottle of water, trying to busy myself so I don’t overthink about the date. Yes, I have spent a lot of time with Asher, but this was different. This was an official date.

I hear a knock at the door, ten minutes early as well. I rushed to the door, not wanting my dad to get there first. I took a deep breath and answered the door. Asher was standing there smiling and looked handsome.

“Hey,” I said shyly.

“Hey, sweetness,” He smiled, “You look good,” He added, winking.

“Thanks, looking not to bad yourself,” I giggled, “I am sorry you need to do this,” I added.

“It is alright,” He smiled.

I smiled and moved to let him in. My parents were now standing in the hallway. I can’t believe they are making me do this, but I may as well get this over with.

“Mum, Dad, this is Asher. Asher, my parents,” I said.

They all said their hellos to one and other. My dad was questioning Asher on a few things, but Asher answered without hesitation. I was hoping that would be it. I was about to pull Asher away, but before I could.

“Not so quickly,” My dad said, “Some rules before you leave,” He added.

“Dad!” I groaned.

He ignored me and turned his attention to Asher. I could tell Asher was now getting slightly nervous.

“One, I want Farrah back no later than eleven p.m. Two, you try anything, I will come after you. Three, my daughter comes back unhappy, again, I will come after you,” He said firmly, “And lastly, you kids have fun, not too much though,” He added, chuckling.

“Yes, Sir,” Asher said politely with a nod.

“Can we please go now?” I asked.

It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I was expecting more and for it to worse. My dad nodded, and we said goodbye. I grabbed Asher’s hand and rushed outside before my dad changed his mind.

“That wasn’t so bad now, was it?” Asher laughed, wrapping his arm around my shoulder.

“No,” I giggled.

Asher led me to his car, opening the passengers’ door to let me climb in before running around to get in.

“Ready, baby girl?” He asked.

“Yes, I am so hungry,” I laughed.

“Then we shall get that fixed right now, gorgeous” He smiled.

I suddenly wasn’t as nervous now. I was excited about my date with Asher.
