Chapter Forty

Her eyes were searching for him, walking in the washroom, around the room, hall. She almost found him in the entire room. Hearing the sound of the opened door, she scooted out of the washroom with a broad smile as hoping to see him, but it faded soon. " Ana! It's you. " She said loudly, a bit shocked.
" You looked shocked to see me. Wasn't you expecting me? " Ana asked.
" No, I was expecting Liam. " She blurted.
" It's okay. That's what you married friends do after getting married. Forget your friends, cousins, almost everyone." Ana folded her arms and gave her a look.
" Sorry, I didn't mean to. " She said sadly.
" Never mind. I have cooked for you, " Ana smiled.
" Pasta? " She asked in excitement.
" Yes, come. " Ana held her hand and walked toward the kitchen.
They dug on it with their fork. Her eyes were still expecting him to walk in. It was her favorite food. But she wasn't interested in eating it. She was just pretending but she wanted him to see first. " You made it! When did you learn cooking? " She asked to invest her attention somewhere else.
" No, your mother in law. You are lucky, You know! I'm glad you got the best family for you. " Ana brushed her shoulder with her to have her attention.
" You wanna say something. Say it. " She asked.
" You are the best, " Ana hugged her tightly, lifting herself from her seat, " Kairo is upset. Whatever happened that day? Liam is not talking to him. In fact, no one is talking to him. I heard from Danil that he would be dead. If it would be he, instead of Liam. " She completed with disappointment.
" I didn't see him after whatever he did to me. " She said, toying with the pasta with her fork.
" You know why he did it, to save your friends. Shouldn't you help him. Now? " Ana said, standing one feet away, " You should look at him, how broken he is!" Ana said sadly.
" I know what you are trying to say. I believe instead of plotting, he should tell them the matter. " She said, turning on her chair to look at her.
" You are not getting it, Rose. " Ana angrily shook her head and stared at her.
" Getting what? If Liam couldn't make it on time there. You know what could have happened. Lamberto tried to rape Angelina. M….. she is in the hospital. It's just not physically but they are injured mentally as well as. " She said to her.
" You are blaming Kairo for all this or are you taking revenge? " Ana folded her arms and glared at her.
She was taken back by her rude words, " I'm not. How could you think so? If it'd be about revenge he'd be....... Whatever! I don't wanna stretch it any more. " She said, getting up from her chair.
" You are not helping, Rose. " Ana threw her arms in a circle in the air.
Unhanding her fork, she glared at her and sighed deeply. She was already struggling with these unknown feelings which were ruling her will power and taking her, where? God knew. Right now her brain was enchanting Liam Liam. She was asking her to uncoil the tangle which her father-in-law couldn't even solve.
" I'm not interfering between brothers. They are mature enough to handle their matter. I'll suggest the same to you. " She said and pressed her lips in a thin line, making several wrinkles on it.
" Fine, " Ana frowned and tramped through the kitchen with her pointed pink heels.
Why was she not getting this? It wasn't good. Interposing between mafia brothers could be dangerous. One mistake could create lifetime enemity between them. She didn't want to be that cliff among them. She was blaming herself whatever Kairo did. She thought to have a walk to clear her brain which was giving her a headache now. She paced toward the swimming pool area. She saw Ana crying running in her room, but Ana did not see her and rushed toward her room. She ran after her to stop her. Her gaze caught Kairo sitting near the poolside. She saw him wiping his eyes. Was this why Ana was crying, witnessing his upset? She stood, walking near him.
" Can I talk to you, Kairo? " She asked.
" Are you talking to me? " Kairo frowned, pointing his first finger at him.
" Your name is Kairo, Right? " she said, sitting next to him.
" You shouldn't talk to me. Brother will not like it. " he dolefully said.
" No, he'll not. He loves you. Give him some time. " She tried to cheer him up.
" It's not your normal world. I know big brother loves me. That's the reason, I'm still breathing. If it would Danil. He must….." He stopped and was gazing at water.
" We should never lose our heart. You never know. Anything, any miracle can occur at any time. " She said to him.
" You believe in miracles? " He asked, staring at her with a smile.
" Yes, you should too. " She smiled back.
" Don't you hate me? I tried to kill you, allow enemies to hurt you, indeed almost allow them to kill you. Thanks to brother. I hate myself. I'm really sorry, Rose. " Tear slipped from his cheek. Quickly he wiped it, " I wanna be alone for some time, please. " He requested.
She had seen them laughing together. It was making her heart wreck to see him like this, alone. Kairo used to be the dotted kid of the family. She nodded and paced back to her room.
" Ma'am? " she got a loud knock on the door.
" Travis! I'm going out. " She told him, it was enough to tell him to arrange the ride. She was choosing a dress for her.
" Sure, ma'am. " He replied and walked from which way he came.
Briskly, she changed in white dress which was reaching her mid thighs. She glanced at the click. Putting light makeup, hurriedly she paced out. She got in her car.
" Any particular place, ma'am. " Travis asked.
'' Yes, My husband's office. " She smiled.
Travis gestured at the driver. He started the car. She had already asked him, ' where was he?' She did not want to talk in the house. She wanted him to hear her and understand her. There was several pain in her head. Closing her eyes, she rested her head on the seathead. After that incident, she ordered Vanessa to do her job from a distance as she didn't want to see her. Mostly she stared out of the window and her phone during the ride to his office.
" Ma'am, we have reached. " Travis said.
She opened the door. She glanced at his building and smiled. She knew the way to his office as she had come here with him before. Striding inside the building, she took the elevator. She didn't wait for Travis to join her in the lift. Restlessly, she was shifting on her heels and clenching her purse in her both hands.
' He will not get angry with you for visiting randomly. - She told herself. '
Elevator opened with a ding on the twelfth floor. She stepped in his office hall. Directly, she strolled in his office. It was empty.
" May I help you, ma'am? " A old lady asked her.
She swiveled on her heels, " Hey! Where is my husband? " She asked his assistant with a small smile.
" Good evening, ma'am. Boss is attending an important conference. Boss asked no one to disturb him. I beg my pardon, you have to wait, ma'am. Can I bring you something? " She smiled.
" No, thanks. I'll wait for him. " She replied to her.
" Ma'am, you should wait for me. " Travis said, catching his breaths.
" I know the way. " She grimaced.
" If you need anything. Please, give me a call, ma'am. " His assistant said, smilingly.
" Okay, " She said.
Travis stood out of the door. His assistant walked to her desk. She paced toward the full glass wall and glanced out of the window. She could see the sun going down and the entire city.
She was nervously staring at her watch and at his office door. She was waiting for him for more than an hour. She knew where the meeting was being held. She didn't want to wait anymore. Going through the hall, she went into the conference hall. Travis was stopping her but she ignored him. Getting the knob, she opened the door.
" Liam! " She softly said his name.
" Who d........ Rose! What are you doing here? " Danil asked, taking long steps at her.
" Liam? " she asked him, swiping her eyes on the faces in the conference hall.
" Wait in his office. I'll be there. " He said to her, " Travis, " he nodded at him.
" I know the way, Danil. " She rolled her eyes and strode back. Sadness covered her face.
She was waiting for him in Liam's office. She saw Danil coming. His phone was on his ear. She guessed the right he was talking to Liam.
" Yeah! We are heading back home. Yeah Sure! Brother, " He came in his office, pushing the glass door open, " Rose, " He said, giving her his phone.
Instantly, she took the phone from him, " Hello, " She bit her nail under her teeth.
" Are you okay? You can call me. "
" Um, I wanna meet you. So I.... I thought you'd be.... um, "
" Go home with Danil. Don't wait for me. I'll be late. If something is important, you can tell me now. "
" No, I um, " She closed her eyes. She didn't wanna talk on the phone about Kairo. " Um, I should go home. Bye. " She gave his phone back to him. Gloominess could be easily seen on her face.
" Shall we?" Danil asked.
" Sure, " She managed a smile.
She was with Danil in his car. It didn't happen as she planned. Depression could read from her face easily. He said he was in his office.
" You shouldn't come out like this. If something happened to you. It will kill my brother." Danil broke the silence.
" Don't say this. " She said in a low voice.
" That's the fact Rose. Why did Lamberto compelled Kairo to kidnap you? It will devastate him, if you get hurt. We have seen him. He doesn't care for anyone except you. " She knew, he was saying right. But she could not live like a coward all the time.
" Wrong! Except family. Isn't it wrong? We all treat Kairo badly. " She couldn't help saying it.
" So, you were here to talk about Kairo?" Danil stared at her.
" Hmm. " She nodded her head.
" You should stay away from it. Liam knows what he's doing?" Danil said, turning his eyes back on the road.
" But he is Hurt " She said a bit louder.
" Kairo earned it, Rose. He should protect you. If we'll not punish him. He'll make mistakes again. Trust Liam. he is doing the right thing. Believe me, Rose. If you got a Nick on your skin this time. No one can stop him from devastating and destroying them, especially Kairo and I'm not joking. " Danil clenched his jaw.
" I saw him that day. " She said, gazing down at her hands in her lap.
" I hope you'll think about what I said to you. " He said.
" Yeah, thanks. " She said.
" Welcome, sister in law. " he smiled.
She managed back the smile and turned her gaze out of the window.
Liam was reverberating in her brain. She wanted to talk to him, so this bad chapter could be closed. Destiny didn't allow it. She moved to take the stairs to her door.
" Dinner? " Danil asked.
" No, I'll wait for him." She said with a light curve on her lips.
" He will be late. " He said, glancing at his wrist.
" I can wait. I'm not hungry yet. Good night. " She said, taking the stairs.
" Good night, Rose." Danil said.
She took out her heels in frustration. She was moving toward the room without making any noise. She was disappointed and sad as it didn't work as she wanted it. Half of the lights were off but clear to see the path and things around.
" Ma'am, Olivia ma'am has sent this for you." A maid stopped her.
She spun and saw a maid with a tray, " Juice? " She mopped.
" Ma'am said that the Boss will be late from work. You will not eat without him. So ma'am ask me to give it to you. You have to drink it. I've to report it back ma'am. " Maid said in her sweet voice with a smile.
" Fine. " She plucked the glass from the tray and drank it half and put it back.
" Ma'am! You've to bottom it up. " Maid looked at the glass as her life depended on it.
" I'm not. And don't follow me back. " She said walking away from the maid.
" I haven't seen her before. " She whispered.
She heard some noises from a dark room. She halted herself to gaze, "....... kill her tonight. No! No! They've already tried to poison her. It can be possible. They'll kill her after killing Angelina perhaps Mel………..." Wondering, She covered her mouth. She couldn't trust what she heard. She tried to peep in the dark room. She couldn't see her face but she recognised the voice. Her heels were already in her hand. She rushed downstairs again. She sighted Travis.
" Travis, Mel and Angelina's life are in danger." She sighed anxiously.
" Ma'am what are you saying? " He gave her a perplexed look.
" Let's go to the hospital. Someone is going to kill her." She said and forwarded her steps toward the main door.
" What's happening? " Danil asked. He was still in his suit.
" No time for this. Please we should go to the hospital. Please. " She looked at her with beseeching eyes.
" Okay. Fine, but you're telling me the whole matter. " Danil said.
" Promise, " She said in speed, rushing toward the car. Hurriedly, she got in the back seat.
She was conceiving what she heard, ' No no that can't be. If some will try to kill her tonight. Then I'm sure. I know who could be that. But why .... It can't be what I'm thinking. ' she shook her head.
" What's the matter, Rose." Danil asked.
" Save Angelina. I will explain later." She said. She didn't mention Mel as she knew deep down. Danil would not allow her to go then. Liam was not here. She had to hear Danil as Liam had made it sure in his absence.
" You promised. Rose. " Danil stared back at her.
" I eavesdrop someone, killing Angelina. " She said.
" What? Where? " He shockingly asked.
" On my way to my room. " She said.
" Are you sure, Rose? You are not twisting anything or telling half truths. " He asked, staring at her.
" Why would I Danil? " She shook her head.
" I hope, Rose. " Danil murmured.
She hated the mistrust in his voice but she ignored it.
Travis was driving fast. She could see him fighting with his panic. She herself was sweating with tension. Her skin was feeling strange to her. Vision was getting blurry. She was blinking many times to throw it away. It wasn't working. Her own body weight was feeling heavier to her as she could not move. Abruptly, she was feeling confused. Throwing her head back she closed her eyes. She couldn't comprehend it, what was happening to her? Her stomach was feeling queasy. There was several pain in her head as it was going to explode. Suddenly, she puked. She saw crimson red on her finger. She was spewing blood from her mouth. She felt the bitter taste. She heaved heavily and with difficulty. She was collapsing. She hurtled herself on the seat. She could hear her name from a familiar voice. Drowsiness covered her.
