Chapter Forty Eight

She was trying to sleep. But her tears didn't allow it. Brushing her tears away, she dropped the sheet from her face and peeped. Vanessa was still sitting on the same chair, she didn't move a little inch. She looked at her and smiled. Vanessa returned it with her dry smile. Ring of her phone sent a wave of hope inside her. Speedily, she reached for it and a real broader smile appeared on her face, making light wrinkles around her eyes. She hoisted it to her ear.
" Are you all right? " His voice increased the smile on her lips.
His question made her laugh. Why couldn't he imagine her enjoying her time instead seeking for problems? " I'm not always in trouble. " she smirked.
" Is everything fine there? " He asked the same question in a different tone and way. She rolled her eyes, leaning back.
She wanted to tease him, " If you wanna know about the security system. Call your security. You've dialed a wrong number Mr Husband. " she put her hand on her mouth so he couldn't hear her laugh.
" Are you missing me? ' He asked, making her heart skip its beat. She was missing him with every breath of her that she was confused why did tears welled down from her eyes for him. Unbelievably She was feeling him beside her and found him nowhere, " Yes, " she whispered slowly and hesitantly, exhaling.
" Why did it take so much time, babe. " She could hear amusements in his voice. He was laughing, she heard it clearly. It made her body fill with joy.
" It was a heavy question. " she hesitated and was pinching the blanket between her fingers.
" Heavy, " She heard his heart touching laugh, making her blush.
" Heavy! It's a normal question. " He said.
She thought to change the topic. She stared down at her hand with her wedding solitaire. There was a small solitaire of the amethyst. She smiled, " I met Hacker. He presented me with my wedding gift. When I was fifteen. I went to meet him at his workplace. It was a jewelry store. I saw an Amethyst ring there. I wanted to buy it but couldn't. He gave me the same ring today. " She was feeling happy and sad at the same time.
" Are you happy? " He asked.
" Ye......... " She couldn't complete herself. Abruptly, the door of her room swung open with a loud thud, hitting itself with the wall. Vanessa was on her feet, charging her gun at the gate. " Oh My God! Kairo! " Phone dropped from her hand on the bed. Blood was seeping from his shoulder. She ran at him, " Wh wh what happened? " She panicked.
" We've been attacked." He said in a painful low voice.
" We should go to the hospital. Yo you are bleeding. " Her voice was coming weak from her mouth.
" I'm fine." He said to her and turned to Vanessa, " Helicopter is ready. Vanessa, take her safely back home. Travis is waiting in the backyard. Keep her safe. " He poured out his words fastly.
She jolted hearing gunshots out of the house. Although, it wasn't a strong voice but enough to make her dread. Vanessa swiveled at her, " I'm not going. He needs a doctor. We are go-ing to the hospital. " She rushed at her phone. She groped for it, unable to concentrate. She grabbed her phone. Short, she felt a grip on her wrist, " Liam..... " Vanessa was holding her wrist and taking her forcefully at the door. " Leave me... " She said and the phone fell from her hand, " I'm not going anywhere. " But Vanessa was hauling her out.
" Leave her hand. " Kairo shouted. " I told you to take her safely out, not to haul her. If you dare to do this shit again. I'll shoot you. " Kairo roared. She had seen hatred in his eyes for her but never anger and care for her.
" I'm sor-ry, sir. " Vanessa said.
" I need to call Liam. I was talking to him. He must be worried and we are going to the hospital. " She decided, firmly saying her words.
" Shit! " Kairo held her hand, " Come, Rose. You are not safe here. I will call, brother. " He was walking at the back door. She could hear the helicopter's sound.
" Kairo, stop. Listen to me. I don't wanna go. It's Isha's wedding. " She said.
Kairo stopped and swirled, " Brother is already upset with me. If something...., ' He closed his eyes," I don't wanna lose my brother. " He said and started to walk again, " When we were kids. Dad was always busy. It was my brother who played football with us, heard us and sorted out our problems. " He said emotionally.
She could listen to gunshots' sound getting louder.
" You are bleeding." She said worriedly.
" I'm fine. Just a nick." He smiled and shook his head.
They reached the lawn. Everything was destroyed. She gazed back at his red arm, " Doesn't seem. " She rambled her eyes around again.
Hacker was shooting at goons who were shooting back. It was a barbaric sight. She could hear menacing shouts and see bodies falling after getting shot. They were going to attend marriage tomorrow here. Now there were dead bodies lying on the grass wet in their blood. She was frightened and held his arm. All of a sudden, They were covered by six bulky ugly goons, who were dressed up like waiters. It raised hair on her body. Their guns were in their hands. Menacingly, they were glaring at her. Kairo led her behind himself. Vanessa was already behind her pointing her gun at them.
" Vanessa, " He signaled with the nod of his head.
" I'm not going to leave you here with these horrible people. " She said to him.
" Smart girl. Come with us. I'll spare their lives. " One dark bulky goon said.
" Not even in your dreams. " Kairo said in a thick voice.
Abruptly, Ambiance filled with ear piercing gunshots. Their white shirts soaked in blood. They collapsed on the ground. She was filled with horror witnessing dead bodies in front of her. Her eyes were fixed on them as someone pressed the pause button for her.
" Rose, are you okay? " Kairo's voice came in the background.
Someone shook her by her shoulders. Ana and Isha were standing, holding her shoulders, " Are you alright? " She asked her and hugged her.
She looked at dead bodies again. She raised her eyes, there was a fit slim man in his forty or fifty in black suit, he was holding a machine gun in his hand. Her eyes met with his dark eyes. " Did he save us? " She asked, still hugging Isha. He was looking familiar to her. But she wasn't getting it where she had seen this man.
" Yes, " Kairo said, who was standing beside him.
She looked around and found the battle placated. She inhaled. " Who is he? I hadn't seen him before. " She asked.
" Hello, princess. I'm a friend of your father. " He said with a smile.
" Is he a friend of Mr. Pinto? " She asked Isha.
Isha nodded with her confirmation nod.
" Hello. " She smiled meekly.
" Rose, " Hacker's heavy voice attracted everyone, " Are you okay? "
" Hacker! We need a doctor. Kairo is injured. " She said, rushing at him.
" Doctor is on his way. Liam wanna talk to you. " Hacker gave her his phone.
In flash, she held it in her hand, hoisting it up, " Liam! " She said out loudly as tears slipped down.
" Are you okay? Are you hurt? " he speedily said his words.
" I'm fine, not a single bruise. Kairo...." He did not allow her to complete.
" Is he all right? " He asked, she felt his concern.
" Yes, " She said. She whirled to look at him. He was sitting on the bench. Doctor was treating his wound. Ana was hugging him from one side. Tears were falling down Ana's cheeks. Kairo was whispering something which made her laugh. Kairo wiped her tears.
" Ask him yourself. " She paced a few steps, " Kairo! Liam. " She said with a nervous smile on her face.
He smiled cheerfully and quickly took the phone from her, " Brother, " He excitedly said.
" Where is Isha? " she murmured and went inside the house.
Vanessa was keeping her steps in her. She went into her room and she was sleeping peacefully.
" She must take her sleeping pills. " She whispered and ran her gaze at the nightstand to confirm her doubt. She bent down to kiss her forehead and swirled to leave.
" Rose, is that you? " She asked in her sleeping voice.
" You came without saying anything to me. I thought. You're sleeping. " She said.
" I was. I heard some loud sounds, perhaps gunshots. I came out and saw you. You were with family and safe, so I came back to my room." Isha made room for her, sliding back.
" Yes, it was. " She said, sitting beside her.
" Is Liam here? " Isha asked her. She was looking lost. Her face wasn't looking glee to her as usual. She behaved. Her behavior had changed inordinate amounts in a good way.
" No, we were attacked. " She said.
" Will you sleep with me today as we used to be before your wedding. " Isha asked.
" Sure! Should I call Ana? " She asked her.
" No, Kairo would go with you tomorrow after the wedding. Let her spend time with him. I'm happy for you and Ana. You both got love in your life." She said. She was looking depressed.
" I know. Tell me. What's troubling you? " She asked her, getting in the bed.
" I didn't get love. It's an arranged marriage. " She bitterly said, " I saw him. He's handsome, rich. But there's no love between us. " Isha hung her head.
" You'll fall in love with him. When he'd be according to your taste. " She said.
" What if he will not? " She looked at her, turning her head. Her eyes were sad.
" If Liam is sky. I'm earth. We're not the same, um, you can say fully different. Husband should not be according to your list. He should be loving, caring, most important understanding and yeah loyal obviously in today's time. You'll fall for him automatically. " She smiled at her.
" I'm fearing. What if he could not be a good husband as you told me. " Isha asked, putting her arm around her stomach, turning on her back.
" Then, you have us. " Ana said, coming into the room.
" If you are not ready. You can come with me. " She smiled.
" My family will kill me. They didn't even ask me before arranging this wedding. We came to enjoy holidays at your house and came back with my wedding shopping Bags." Isha smirked fake.
" Not until you have us. " She passed her smile, " How is Kairo, Ana? " She asked.
" I'm astonished at him. He's so strong, not even feeling the pain. My heart was fluttering badly to see him stitching and he was smiling. " Ana smiled while a blush crept on her cheeks.
" Isha Isha... " They went silent hearing whispers. " Isha, " A male voice came again.
" It's coming from the window. " Isha said and rumbled toward it. She removed the curtains, " Oh my gosh! What are you doing here? " She shouted.
A male figure in black suit stepped in through the window. He was handsome as Ana told.
She and Ana instantly stood up from the bed.
" Oh No! What are you doing here Antonio? " Ana shouted.
" Shhh! You'll invite others. " Isha shushed her.
" Who's he? " She asked, crossing her arms.
" You must be Rose. Hello, I'm Antonio. Your sister and I'm going to marry. " He said.
" Oh! Hello, " She waved her hand with a smile, " We should leave them alone. "
" You are right. Let's go. " Ana said.
" I didn't mean to interrupt. But perhaps, outside is a mess. Please, don't go far. I don't want anyone to shoot me. " Antonio said.
" Don't worry. You are safe until our sister is happy. " She gave him a long stare.
" I got it. " Antonio said and rubbed his beard.
" They are kidding. " Isha glared at both.
" See! She's already in love with you. She's giving angry glare to her sisters because of you. " Ana mocked.
She giggled, " Let's go Ana. " She held her by arm and tugged her with her.
She saw Kairo was still talking on the phone, " They patched up. " Ana smiled, whispering in her ear.
" Yes, his smile is telling. " She said and took the couch in the hall.
" Rose is here. " Kairo said with a huge smile.
" Ma'am," Vanessa came with a laptop and extended her hand toward her.
She took it from Vanessa with puzzlement, " Why are you giving it to me? " She asked her. She gazed down at the screen and her cheeks swell with the biggest smile on her face. " Liam, '' She screamed. There was a cold look on his face when he saw her getting super excited. His face stimulated with a smile. " Are you okay? " He asked in a whisper.
She nodded with a smile, unable to find her tongue. She elated. ' Why didn't I think this? '' She thought.
" You should go into your room. " Ana said.
She did not glance at her and fastly took steps. She reached in her room. She shut the door behind her and sat on her mattress. They both were staring at each other as they were seeing each other after years.
" You must be tired. Lay down. " He whispered again, making her heart speedy. She did not question him and rested her head on the pillow. She touched the display of the laptop and once again smiled broadly. Her eyes were getting heavy.
" Close your eyes and sleep. " He sighed.
" I did not see you the whole day. " She said. There was a long lasting smile on boths faces.
" Next time, I'm not allowing you to go so far from me. " He said.
" I'll not allow it next time. " She was stunned on her own.
He chuckled and gazed at her back. It was easy to fight with unknown feelings about him when he wasn't around, but now it was looking quite impossible, when she was facing him. She was feeling the urge to touch him, huge him. She inhaled shaky breath. She didn't break her gaze for a second from him. Her eyelashes were getting heavy with sleep and breaking the view of him. " Sleep, babe " he sweetly said.
" Liam, I'm feeling for you. It's making my body tingle but I don't know what's this? " She smiled, closing her eyes. Her body had no strength to hold them open any longer.
" I love you. " She heard his sugar sweet voice.
" I love you too, Liam. " She said while shutting her eyes completely , going to sleep. All this was looking like a dream to her.
