Chapter Forty One

Conference hall was dimly lit, enough to glance at questioning faces of all. He could spot all the mafia leaders, some sitting, some standing and some arguing. Hall was reverberating with one solid word ' Illegitimate child ' He felt the rush of anger boiling in his veins. His jaw was clenched tight as noises were hitting his ear drums. His hands were fisted, " Enough! " he forced it through his clenched teeth which came as a roar. He roared from his head chair. Their faces blanched with fear. Dead silence spread in every corner of the hall.
" You all are misled with half of the information. Or I should say the truth is completely unheard by you all. " Danil said. All heads swirled toward Danil, " I'm that child of my father, you all are talking about. Not Brother. " Danil said.
He stood up angrily from his chair. Chair screeched back violently. His father stopped him. Furiously, He was glaring straight. His eyes were pinching everyone present in this conference hall and it was blood red with rage. Before anyone could say more, he took out his gun, gripping firmly in his hand and rested his both hands on the glass table, bending ahead. It was enough to tell them. He would not take this shit anymore. They were allowed to take their a** out. Fear covered their faces.
" This conversation should be limited in this room. If anyone disobeys. He won't get his body even in the graveyard. " His father said louder in a firm voice. So all could hear him and understood very clearly.
All bowed their heads and took their feet out of the conference hall as fast as they could.
" You shouldn't do this." He said infuriatingly through his gritted teeth.
" He did the right thing son. " His father put his hand on his shoulder.
" If you want our family to be ruined. I can take my words back, brother. No one can handle it better than you. You are aware of it very well. Enemies out there, ready to load their guns. " Danil said.
" Hebrew have to die. " His father seethed.
" He tried his best. But couldn't get what he planned for. " Danil said, " Still I think we should spread our eyes. We can't trust them now. Anyone can ally with Hebrew. "
" Then! I'd love to be the God of death for them. " He said.
" I should talk to Charles and Dean. Lilly isn't safe here anymore. They shouldn't be in New York for some days. " His father said.
He nodded at his father, " Danil, can you attend the meeting alone? I should talk to Angelina. You can handle the security as you want. I'll check it when you will set it up." He said.
" Sure, brother. I need Danny's help in it. " Danil replied.
" Sure, " He stormed out of his office. Getting behind the wheels, he sped up toward the hospital.
He was sitting in the hospital canteen, waiting for Angelina to wake up. He was sipping his black coffee. His phone was buzzing in his pocket. He was neglecting it the whole time. He was still considering what happened in the conference hall. This was unexpected. Although it had an effect on him, it was not enough to break him. He had made himself the strongest personality as he always wanted to be ruthless, stone hearted. It was pumping his rage when he saw Danil with his tag. He tightened his grip around the cup. It was on the brink of shattering.
" Sir, Angelina has woken. " Paul said.
Leaving his coffee cup on the round table, he walked toward the private room.
" Good evening, sir. " she managed through her pain.
" Stay put. " He beckoned with his hand, " Can you give me any information about Hebrew. Any particular person, place anything? Where you think he can hide. " He asked in hope.
Although, she had already given all information to him before, when he visited last time for the same information. Still, he wanted to know more. Maybe she was skipping something important in her bad time.
" I thought about it, sir. But I don't know if it can help or not. " She paused. He nodded at her to continue, " Once he was..... " she stopped.
" Just tell me the main part if you're not comfortable." He said.
" He was in my room. Dave came in and said to him, Lady Gem is waiting for him. I felt fear in his eyes that day. I have heard this name from Lamberto many times but couldn't see her ever. " She said.
He thought for a second. He never heard this name. He inhaled, " Okay, Thanks. " He said. He was fidgeting with weird feelings. He couldn't get it, why?
" Sir, Thank you, sending my daughter and protecting her. " She smiled.
He nodded and stormed out of the hospital.
Getting back in his car, he threw his head back and closed his eyes. Their words were echoing in his mind. He did not want them to cross the threshold alive. He returned back to his office. Only his trusted people were with him. He ordered them to change the whole security and equipped them with extra guns and weapons. He asked them to get ready for the attack at any time. Mostly these days, he changed the security randomly. It was hard to trust when your people betrayed you.
He drove back to his office. Almost all the staff was gone. He pushed open the door of his office.
" Paul, I want extra guards to protect my wife, add a sharpshooter too. " He dictated.
" Yes, sir. I've finalized these people. You should have a look at them. " Paul said.
" Call them in the morning. " he said.
Abruptly, the door opened of the hall. Kairo came in view. He glared at him and fisted his hands.
" Brother, can we talk? " Kairo said.
" No, you may leave. " He snapped.
" Please, brother. " Kairo pleaded.
He waved at his men. They immediately left except Paul, " What do you want? " He rudely asked.
" I'm extremely sorry. I was, I have to know their plan. I I….. " Kairo glanced at his brother with begging eyes. " Please brother, I'm so sorry. I pretended when I earwigged Mel talking on the phone with Lamberto. I… …. "
" It'd be better if you have thought to involve someone from our family. You're just wasting your time here. You are not getting what you're demanding. You may leave. " He said roughly, looking out of the window.
Paul's phone rang. He looked at his boss for permission. He nodded. Paul answered it, " I'm sorry, Sir!, " He said, picking it up to his ear.
He glanced at Kairo. It was hurting him. He loved his brother most. He felt the taste of fear of losing the love of his life, only because of his youngest brother. When he did not speak, Kairo left with a hung head.
" Sir! Danil sir, he wants to talk to you. " Paul said, giving him his phone.
He took it and hoisted up to his ear and let Danil speak, " What!? " He was taken aback. His heart skipped a beat. He sucked in his breath.
Without a word, he hastened toward his car. He wasn't bothered to put on the seat belt. He was driving as fast as he could. Phone was still hoisted up. He rushed to the hospital, running toward the emergency ward. He saw Danil standing out of the emergency room, " Dan, " He was gasping for air.
" Brother! " Danil ran at him, " She has been poisoned. Doctor has kept her in isolation." He said, holding his feet before him.
" Block this floor. Only trustworthy, trained and appointed doctors and nurses should be allowed. Buy the hospital if it's compulsory. " He told Paul.
" Yes, sir. " Paul hurried his feet to block the floor.
Doctor came out of the emergency room, " Doctor! My wife?" He said, his palms were sweating. Heart was throbbing.
" Mr Rodriguez, In your wife's case, we suspect slow poisoning by administration of small doses at varying intervals. We should make a very careful note of all the symptoms exhibited by your wife. Our best staff is working. Please, You have to wait sir." Doctor said.
" I can see her." More than a request he made a command.
" Yes, sir." Doctor nodded his head.
He slided open the door. She was lying under a dull blue blanket. She was surrounded with machines and IV drip was injected on the back of her hand. Her face was pale white. Her rosy lips were petrified. Halting near her, he brushed the back of his fingers on her cheek. His heart was beating but he couldn't feel it. He wanted to scream. He wanted to bury them alive who were responsible for this. He was boiling with rage. He whirled toward the door, reaching for his gun.
" Brother! She needs you. We can do it later. You need to calm down. " Danil stopped him.
" Sir, Re-ports have come. '' Doctor said, coming through the door. Doctor was shivering with fear for his life, seeing a gun in his hand.
He removed his hand from the gun, putting it back in its holster.
" She had intaken TTX Tetrodotoxin a few minutes ago. But I'm shock-ed sir. She had already given an antidote to it. " Doctor was looking shocked and scared.
It startled him. Who can be that who is saving her and most shocking, who knows all this. He thought while pausing.
" Antidote! Means, she's fine. Right?" Danil asked the doctor as his brother wasn't reacting.
" She's weak, sir. She had faced miscarriage in last month, I guess perhaps cause may this poison. If you could provide her medical history it'd be great help, sir. " doctor asked, turning the page of the report.
He staggered back. Danil immediately caught him, " My guess was right. She was pregnant last month. " He spoke softly, almost a whisper.
He gazed back at her. He could not believe she had gone through all this under his nose. He wasn't ready to leave her alone, not for a second. He also didn't want to see her like this. He gazed back at her closed dark eyes.
" It is given to her more than one time. But we can't say anything. If we can get her last medical detail it can help more. " Doctor asked again.
" Sure Doctor. I'll contact our family doctor." Danil replied.
" You wife is fine, Sir. She needs rest." Doctor said, looking at him.
" I want her to wake up like every morning. AND Pregnancy," He paused, " Miscarriage, it should be between us. Do you get me? " He glared at the doctor, the threat was clear in his sight and voice.
" Y yes, Sir. " Doctor said. He took out his hankie and wiped the sweat from his forehead.
He nodded and allowed them to go.
" Sir, the floor has been blocked and a new security team has reached." Paul said, stopping in front of him.
He walked out of the emergency room. Paul and Danil followed him, " I want doctor Raven in my dungeon before morning. " He said.
" Yes, sir. " Paul bowed, making his way out.
He looked at Danil but didn't speak anything. He strode back. He was sitting beside her, holding her hand. He was rubbing his thumb on the back of her hand. He was expecting her to wake up at any time. He didn't remove his gaze from her, not even for a while.
" Brother, you should rest. She'll be fine. " Danil said to him.
" Did Paul get Doctor Raven? " He asked.
" You should sleep. It's three o'clock. " Danil said.
He stood up with rage, " It's not the answer. I demanded from you. " He said slowly, squeezing his jaw tightly. He was still holding her hand. He remembered that day very well. When he called the doctor. He remembered the fear on the doctor's face, she was blanched but didn't say anything.
" Someone already shot him in her heart. No chance of survival. " Danil woefully replied.
" Tight the security. " He said,
" Nobody knows she is here. They must be finding her in our usual visiting hospital, " Danil gazed at his brother while pause, " I need to tell you something, brother. " Danil said.
Placing a kiss on her cheek, he walked out of the door. But he didn't remove his eyes from her through the mirror door. " Say it. " He nodded.
" Mel and Angelina have been attacked." Danil stopped
" Continue, " His eyes were still glued to her. Indeed, he wasn't interested in anything. Although He didn't want to hear, he still did, to get something important.
" I was on the dining table when Rose came gasping. She said, Someone is going to kill Angelina. " Danil completed.
He gazed at him, " Did she tell you, who? How did she know all this? " He asked, expressionless. But he wanted to dig for more answers.
" No, brother. I don't know? How does she know all this? First I thought she was upset. Because she could not meet you. Then all this happened. " Danil said, sadly.
" Did you catch the attacker? No maid should go out of the threshold. It's one of them. I'm damn sure. " He said, turning back to face her through the glass door.
" Yes, I've sent my men home. Travis already had sifted them in a safe place. He laid on Mel's bed. When the attacker came to attack. They caught them. " Danil said.
" Keep him in a safe place. They may know who is doing all this? Mel is important right now. She may have the whole information more than we think. " he said, " And you should go home. "
" Not a chance. I'm observing the security. I'm not going anywhere. " Danil shook his head.
" But take some rest. " He nodded and paced in.
' Mel's attacker has to do something with her. It can be the same person. Someone from security or family members may be involved. Poisoning couldn't be successful without a trusted person's involvement. Get well Rose. I promise you, I'll not let anyone harm you again. ' He thought.
He wouldn't agree but she had melted his stone heart.
