We picked up our trays and made our way to the table at the back, feeling her penetrating gaze on every step we took. It was terrifying.

"Miss, I'm still thinking about that kiss. "Tina settled down, breaking the tense silence.

''Please don't start. ''I sighed, sitting down too.

''Nebula's still in shock,'' Hina added with a laugh.

I looked over at the table where Nebula was with her friends. She looked stunned, but as soon as our gazes met, her face contorted into an angry expression.

''Don't mind her; she's just jealous,'' Trix commented before starting to eat.

''It's the first time I've seen the 'demon' act like this,'' Tina added, and the others agreed.

'' Indeed,'' Dora agreed, causing me to roll my eyes.

''I bet the demon likes our dear Aurelia

Hearing Tina suggest that the demon liked me almost made me choke on my juice. It was such an absurd idea that I could barely process it.

''What the fuck are you talking about, Tina? ''I said, dumbfounded.

''I think so too. ''Hina agreed, and this only increased my incredulity.

''Look here, Aurelia. The girls and I have been here a long time; we've never seen the demon kiss Nebula like that. '' Trix said, looking at me seriously.

I felt uncomfortable; their words were messing with my head.

''He never cared who Nebula had sex with; this is the first time we're seeing him like this, all possessive and obsessive about someone. ''Dora added.

The idea that the demon could have some kind of romantic interest in me was simply absurd. I had to get the girls to stop this speculation.

''He must like you,'' Hina said, as if it were obvious.

I took a deep breath, trying to dispel the uncomfortable feeling those words had caused.

'' That's crazy. He doesn't like me. He's just... controlling. '' I tried to argue, even though my own words sounded uncertain even to me. And also, the only thing he likes is eating my pussy. '' The girls started laughing loudly. '' Holy shit!!! Stop it!

I wanted to find a hole in the ground to crawl into right now, as the shame was consuming me while all the eyes in the cafeteria seemed to be fixed on me.

'' I hate you! '' I cried, putting my forehead on the table. ''Shame on my father!

They gradually stopped laughing.

'' I-I-That was very funny. Oh, my tummy! "Tina said, gradually stopping laughing.

I let out a heavy sigh and lifted my head from the table, meeting his eyes. He was there, with that little sideways smile that seemed to carry a deep understanding, as if he knew exactly what we were talking about. I felt a heat rise to my face, and, embarrassed, I looked away, unable to bear the intensity of that moment.

'' I hate you! '' They ended up laughing again. ''Oh, I hate you!

'' Let's stop! '' Hina said, catching her breath.

''We're sorry for the embarrassment, Aurelia. But what you said was very funny. '' Trix said, with a mischievous smile on her lips.

''Let's just finish eating; I want to go out into the courtyard and relax a bit. ''I said, determined not to let the incident spoil my mood.

''All right.

We began to eat in silence among ourselves, but the other prisoners were talking so loudly that they almost drowned out our own voices.

''Who do you think these two prisoners are going to stay with? ''Tina asked with a curious glint in her eyes.

''If that bastard Nebula told the truth about the young rookie, I feel sorry for that girl. I'm sure the Executioner will try something,'' Trix said pityingly, her tone laced with concern.

''Yeah...I just hope she gets along with someone nice. '' I said, my mind wandering to the possible dangers the newcomer could face. '' What about the other newbie?

''We won't find out until tomorrow; the prisoners won't arrive until the cells are closed. '' Tina answered my question, her eyes sparkling with a mixture of curiosity and expectation.

'' I see.

We finished eating and got up from our seats to hand over the dirty trays.

''The good thing is that today we're really free, but I'm sure that Monday we'll be very chipped with clothes,'' Trix said, stretching in a yawn.

I was confused.

"How do you know when Monday is? "I asked.

''I have a calendar hidden in our old cell, given to me by a policeman, in exchange for... Favors. '' I snorted at that.

'' The cops should be helping us and not trying to rape a prisoner and do business in exchange for a fuck. '' I said angrily.

'' Honey, we like fucking them too; I especially have a policeman all to myself. '' I opened my mouth in shock at what Hina said.

''I give up on you. ''They ended up laughing.

''Aren't you going to ask your man for permission? ''Tina teased.

'' Fuck you. '' I walked past her, hearing her laugh.

We headed out into the courtyard, and I let out a sigh of relief as I felt the wind on my face.

'' Ah, I needed that. '' I closed my eyes, breathing in the fresh air.

''Yeah, with all the things that have happened, you really needed this. ''Trix said, hugging my shoulders. ''Let's go to the table and play cards.

She led me to an empty table; the girls sat down too, but I didn't see Hina.

'' Where's Hina? '' I asked, looking around for her.

''She went to her cell to get the cards.

'' Ah yes.

I took advantage of this little time to close my eyes again and breathe in the air.

I really needed this time with my friends-a brief refuge where I could try to forget all the worries that surrounded me. However, missing my mother weighs heavily on my heart, and it's an ache that only increases. I miss her in an overwhelming way, and it's painful to admit that my family seems distant and indifferent to my suffering. I've always tried hard to please them, but it seems that my efforts have been in vain because all I get in return is loneliness and abandonment. They may even think I was smoking weed, but what hurts me most is the absence of a visit-a simple gesture that would make all the difference to me.

'' I'm back! '' Hina came running up to us. ''It took me so long not to find this fucking thing. '' She sat down at the table and laid out the cards. ''Let's play.

'' Just let's go. '' I said, turning away.

I looked over and saw Lucian and his friends entering the courtyard, but they were heading for the stands. He looked so imposing, his gaze alone conveying an aura of undeniable superiority. He's someone extremely dangerous; someone like that couldn't even think of liking me.

'' Pay attention to the game, beautiful. Leave the love of your life alone. '' I glared at Dora, who laughed.

''Stop teasing me, damn it! This is so annoying! ''I said angrily.

''All right, we won't tease you anymore,'' Tina said with a smile.

''Fuck off. ''They started laughing again.

What have I done to deserve this?

'' We're just going to play.

'' Yes, sir. '' They replied in unison.

I glanced quickly at Lucian, who was talking to the Dragon, before looking back down at my cards.

Concentrate on the game, Aurelia. That's all that matters now.
