14:30 ''Shed. ''Valley City. ''Zefinópolis.
Axel Knight.
I parked the car at the entrance to the shed and got out, letting out a small sigh to try and keep calm, although I felt my patience running out. I entered the shed and noticed that everyone was engaged in animated conversation.
'' Yenki! '' I called out, controlling the tone of my voice so as not to let my growing irritation show. He approached quickly with a guilty expression on his face.
''Where's the boy you hired? ''I asked, trying to keep my composure.
Yenki seemed to swallow before answering.
''I told him to go to the casino. '' I sighed, running my hand over my face, trying to keep calm.
'' I'm still trying to understand why you hired that boy and didn't explain anything to him.
He lowered his head, clearly aware of his mistake.
''I just didn't have time, Axel. I had to rush to organize the drug exports. There was a lot of work to be done.
'' Apologies won't solve it, Yenki! Why didn't you assign someone to explain things to him? You could have done that! Take responsibility! '' He remained silent, ashamed.
''I didn't think of that; I'm sorry.
'' Of course you didn't! And where are the others he hired?
'' They're also in the casino; some are in the nightclubs.
My patience was running out fast.
'' Damn it! I want you to call them back immediately! Now, Yenki!
He hesitated, but my determination was clear.
''But they're the security guards; we can't leave the posts unguarded.
I was on the verge of exploding.
'' Dork!!! '' I shouted his name, and he quickly came over to me, clearly afraid.
''Take some goons and go to where those fucking newbies are. Take their places until I find new people.
'' Right, is it to pick anyone? '' He asked a little uncertainly.
'' Yes, anyone will do. Send those sons of bitches here.
'' Yes, sir. '' He walked away, addressing the other henchmen.
'' Axel. '' I faced him harshly.
''What is it?'' he asked harshly.
''Did you tell the boss about this?
'' Lucky for you, he just told me to deal with it.
'' It's not the boy's fault, Axel.
'' I know; it's all your fault. I'll deal with you later, Yenki. '' He nodded halfway down.
''I'm really sorry, Axel.
'' I just want to see the guys that shitty kid hired. '' I looked at the others. '' Get to work!!! '' I growled angrily.
Patience was completely gone.
''And how are things at the establishments?
'' They're doing well.
'' And the profits?
'' Very well.
'' Good.
'' Oh, I almost forgot. Mr. Luck called and said he was sending some weapons and women. '' I frowned in confusion.
'' I can understand guns, but why women? '' I asked, confused.
''It seems he rescued them from some kidnappers, then sent them here as a fresh start.
'' Mr. Luck is an idiot. How the hell are we going to solve this?
'' By sending them back home? '' Snort.
'' He sent them here for a fresh start, in other words. No going home.
My life just gets complicated; I just want to sleep.
'' I wonder why. '' I nod and feel my cell phone vibrate in my pocket.
I realize it's Elara and I can already feel my heart racing.
'' Elara?
I ask a little uncertainly.
Could something have happened?
'' Hi, I'm sorry to bother you.
So sweet.
'' Not at all. Is something wrong?
I asked, worried.
'' Nothing; I just wanted to know if I could come to your house today. It's been a while since we've had time to talk, just the two of us.
I roll my eyes at that.
Fuck!!!!!! Fuck!!!!
'' Ah..... Yes.
I answer rather nervously.
'' Yes? Can I come?
I smile when I hear the enthusiasm in your voice.
'' If you don't get scared by my dirty house.
I joke, making her laugh.
'' No problem at all, darling.
My breath caught in my throat.
Darling? She called me darling. Holy shit!!!!!
'' Axel?
I take a deep breath.
'' Ah, you can go.
'' Sure, I'll see you there then.
'' Bye.
'' Bye.
I hang up and keep looking at the cell phone in my hand.
Did she really call me darling?
'' Axel!
I'm startled by Yenki's shout.
'' What the fuck? '' I ask angrily.
''You were looking at your cell phone like an idiot.
I growl at him angrily, but he just keeps looking at me.
'' What the fuck?
'' You like her, don't you? '' I widen my eyes, surprised by his question.
'' W-W-What? Where did you get that from?
'' You didn't deny it.
'' And I haven't even confirmed it. '' I say.
'' I can tell just by looking at you, Axel. And you haven't even disguised it; you're just smiling.
'' So what? What's it to you?
''Nothing; calm down. I'm just happy to hear that you like someone. Does she know?
'' Are you crazy? Did you smoke a joint?
