♥ Chapter 40♥
19:20 '' Horizonte Penitentiary. '' Cell. '' Zefíria.
Aurelia Dusk.
I opened my eyes slowly, feeling a slight throbbing pain in my cheek.
Ah, it seems the anesthesia has finally worn off; what a nuisance!
A feeling of coldness hit me in my private parts.
What the hell is going on? I'm naked!
'' Did you wake up? '' I raised my face cautiously, trying to avoid any pressure on my bruised cheek, and was met by Lucian's dark eyes.
''Y-Yes. ''I replied, feeling a little dazed.
He gently kissed my forehead.
''Don't talk too much; you need to rest for a while. ''He moved around me carefully, and my eyes widened at the sight of him naked, too.
With a snap, he wrapped a towel around his waist.
''Our overalls were soiled with blood, so I had to cut yours to get it off without hurting you, and I took mine off too. '' He explained as I took in the situation, nodding. ''I'll be right back; wait here.
He left the cell with just his towel, leaving me a little perplexed.
With effort, I managed to sit up in bed and let out a little sigh as I felt a slight burning sensation on my cheek.
I curled up under the sheet up to my chin and gently touched the bandage on my cheek.
What had happened to Nebula's friends?
Reflecting on the situation, I couldn't help but wonder about Lucian's behavior. Sometimes he's so rough, and at other times he seems so gentle. Does he have some kind of personality disorder?
Wait a minute! Shouldn't the cell be closed now? Why is it open?
He came in wearing one pair of overalls, holding another in his hand.
''Here's your new jumpsuit. ''He handed it over carefully. ''In a moment, the Dragon will bring you a bowl of soup.
I looked at him.
'' Thank you. '' I thanked him, and he nodded.
'' Can you dress yourself? '' He asked, and I nodded yes. '' Very well.
I know he won't come out of his cell, so I can get dressed. I got up, leaving the sheet on the bed, a little embarrassed by his gaze on my body. Furthermore, I began to dress quietly and let out a sigh of relief.
"Sit down; I'm going to clean your wound. You need to do this every day, morning, noon and night,'' he said, picking up his things.
''I think morning and evening are fine...You don't have to do it in the afternoon. '' I answered with difficulty, and he kneeled down in front of me, arranging the things next to me.
'' I don't mind that. I'm going to do it every day, so shut up. '' He said, and I rolled my eyes.
''Thick. ''I commented, and he smiled slightly.
''It's big, but you already know that, don't you? ''He teased, and I blushed a little, which made him laugh. ''Now, hold still so I can clean up.
He carefully removed the bandages and gauze, while I bit my lip hard, feeling the pain return.
''All right, I'll be quick. ''His voice was serious, carrying a determination that reassured me. He took some gauze and poured some saline, applying it gently to my cheek.
I instinctively pulled my face away, but he held my chin firmly.
"Stay still. I know it hurts, but you need to hold it for a while. "His eyes conveyed a deep seriousness, as if he were focused solely on the task in front of him.
With clenched eyes, I held on tightly to his overalls, feeling every precise movement as he worked carefully.
'' Boss? '' The Dragon's voice echoed from outside the cell.
'' Come in! '' He ordered, his voice firm and authoritative.
The Dragon entered, carrying a deep dish.
''I've brought the soup,'' he announced, approaching us.
''Wait a moment! '' He spoke, his expression serious and focused as he finished the bandage.
After applying the rifocin and fixing the gauze over my cheek, he stood up.
''Hold it, please. '' He instructed, his voice still serious and firm.
Deftly, he cut the adhesive plaster and positioned it over the gauze, ensuring the necessary protection.
'' Ready. '' He stepped back, his serious and determined posture conveying a sense of security.
''Thank you. '' I thanked him sincerely, while he just nodded in response.
He must still be very angry about what happened to me, for he's very serious.
'' Now, have some. '' He took the soup from the Dragon's hands and handed it to me, his expression remaining serious as he watched me.
He kept his posture serious while I ate in silence, feeling uncomfortable under the weight of his penetrating gaze. The soup was different from the usual meals served in prison, which made me wonder why the warden allowed him to act like this.
'' You may go, Dragon. '' He ordered without looking away from me, who continued to eat in silence.
'' Yes, boss. Have a good night. '' The Dragon left the cell, leaving us alone.
He leaned against the wall and crossed his arms, keeping his gaze fixed on me.
"Why does the warden let you do whatever you want here? "I asked in a low, hard tone.
He clicked his tongue.
''That's confidential information, my little doll,'' he replied calmly.
