♥ Chapter 9 ♥

07:00 '' Axel's Room. '' Valley City. '' Zefinopolis

Elara Sinclair.

I open my eyes slowly, still wrapped in a comforting embrace. Snuggled in Axel's arms, I feel the warmth of his body, and a wave of comfort washes over me.

Oh my God! I don't want to leave this delicious embrace, but unfortunately, I have to.

Carefully, I disentangle myself from his embrace and sit down on the bed. I watch him sleeping peacefully, with serene features on his face, and my heart melts.

He's so beautiful, my God.

I can't resist and reach for my cell phone, checking the time: seven o'clock. College started at eight o'clock.

I look at Axel one more time, mentally capturing every detail of his face. I can't let this moment pass me by.

With a soft smile on my lips, I take the opportunity to take a photo of him.

It's going to be my wallpaper.

Satisfied with the record, I head for the bathroom to take a shower, but the smile still won't leave my face.

I come out of the bathroom, ready for the day, and notice that he is still sleeping peacefully. With soft steps, I approach the bed and place a light kiss on his forehead, leaving a loving note next to him. As I go downstairs, my heart still pounding with the emotion of the night before, I decide to leave another note in the fridge, a small gesture to remind him to eat.

I lock the door behind me and head for the car, where I feel a mixture of nervousness and ecstasy at having spent this little time with him.

" I can't believe I spent the night with Axel. It was the best day of my life. Oh, how I wish I never had to leave that embrace.

The sound of my cell phone interrupts my daydreams, and I answer it promptly, putting it on speaker.

''Hi, Mom,'' I greet with a smile still on my lips.

''Are you off to college already?'' Her loving voice fills the car.

''Yes.'' I reply, feeling grateful for her concern.

''That's good, I thought you were still asleep,'' she comments.

I smile affectionately.

''I wish I was, but unfortunately, I have an appointment.

'' Well then, have a nice day, dear. '' Her farewell is full of affection.

"Thank you, Mom." I reply, feeling warmed by her words.

With the phone switched off, I dive into the landscape of Zefinópolis, a city that, despite its ups and downs, never ceases to enchant. The sun caresses my skin, and I realize that, despite the dark memories of past rains, the present presents me with a comforting sensation. As I drive, I promise myself to enjoy every ray of sunshine, leaving behind the shadows of the past.

I park the car in the tumultuous college parking lot and get out, letting out an uncomfortable sigh. I hate being surrounded by so many people who aren't part of my family bubble.

Furthermore, I walk towards my locker, but halfway there, I bump into Struk.

'' Ah, good morning, Elara. '' He smiles, as always.

He clearly likes me, even though I've already made it clear that I don't feel the same way. But he insists persistently.

''Good morning, Struk. '' I reply, just out of politeness, as I continue onwards, ignoring his presence.

Reaching my locker, I quickly type in my password.

'' What's up? '' He won't give up, damn it.

'' Yes. '' I reply curtly, picking up the books I'll need for the day.

''What did you do well yesterday? '' He insists, and my God, how annoying he is.

''I slept with my boyfriend.'' I give him the answer and leave him behind, without waiting for any more conversation.

This boy is persistent. I've already rejected him, and he's still after me.

I enter the room and head for my chair, wishing that Axel really was my boyfriend. It would be a dream come true.

Soon the bell rings, and the students begin to fill the room. In less than two minutes, the room was full.

The teacher finally enters.

"Good morning, everyone." Everyone answers, except me.

'' Good morning, teacher.

'' I've been thinking, and I've decided to give you a pair of assignments on human resources. But there's one detail: I want the presentations to be in English. " He announces, triggering a wave of surprise among the students.

'' But professor... '' Protests are starting to break out on all sides.

'' I don't care. I want you to be prepared for the future. You have a month to prepare. I'm going to announce the pairs now.

I, who avoid social interaction as much as possible, silently pray that I won't be paired with anyone.

'' Elara Sinclair and Struk Dino.

I can't believe it. Him? My God, why me?

'' Wow, that's lucky, isn't it, Elara? '' He seems a bit too excited.

Hum. We have a month. I already speak English, don't you? "I ask, trying to control my irritation.

''A little.'' He sighs. ''But you can teach me.

I look at him, surprised.

'' No. '' I reply, firmly.

''Then we'll both lose points. Even if you speak perfectly, I'm your double.

He's right. Damn.

''All right, I can help you,'' I say, defeated.

I deserve this.

"Good. Give me your number so we can arrange to study. '' He smiles, assuming I don't realize his ulterior motives.

I know very well that he wants my number. Doesn't this boy understand? I don't want anyone but Axel.

'' Right. '' I hand over my cell phone, deliberately displaying the wallpaper with a photo of my sleeping Axel.

''Is that your boyfriend?'' He asks a little dryly.

''Yes. I slept over at his place and took advantage of the fact that he was still asleep to take this photo. '' I smile as I remember the comforting warmth of his arms around me.

Oh, how I wish I hadn't left that embrace.

'' Got it. Here's my number." He hands me back my cell phone, and I put it in my pocket.

We turned our attention to the teacher, who was seriously explaining the work.
