♥ Chapter 15 ♥
20:15 '' Shed, ''City of the Valley. '' Zefinópolis.
Axel Knight.
After completing another long journey, it's finally time to relax. I stretch my body, feeling the relief in my back as the clock insists on reminding me of my pending obligations. It's quarter past eight, and the boss's mansion is still waiting for me. However, a comforting thought crosses my mind: being able to see Elara before facing yet another arduous task.
I turn off my laptop and get up, leaving the demands of the office behind. I find Yenki concentrating on his computer and making a brief announcement before setting off in the direction of my destination.
The journey to the mansion is permeated by the fatigue that has built up over the day. Every kilometer I travel seems like an additional challenge, but the prospect of finding a moment of peace next to Elara drives me on. Even so, exhaustion threatens to overwhelm me, and I struggle against the weight of my eyelids, wishing I could just get home and temporarily forget the complexities of my position in the mafia.

I go downstairs and approach the door, entering the familiar password. As I enter the house, I come face-to-face with my nightmare in the flesh, Orion.
'' Look who finally decided to show up. '' I let out a slight roll of my eyes, already anticipating a stressful interaction.
'' Leave me alone, kid. I'm exhausted, and I'm not in the mood for your provocations. '' I reply, trying to ignore him.
"And since when do I care what you want?" He snorts defiantly.
"Then don't expect to get any presents, it's as simple as that." I retort, looking at him seriously.
''If you don't give me a present, I'll tell everyone that you failed miserably on the spot.'' I stared at him in disbelief at his absurd threat.
"Who's going to believe you?" I cross my arms, challenging him back. But he just smiles sideways, leaving me bewildered.
''Just give it a chance on my birthday. If you don't give me the present I want, you'll regret it. '' His determination makes me think he's inherited more than just his boss's name.
'' Got it. Where's the boss?" I change the subject, trying to escape that childish power play.
''At the office, as usual.'' He replies with a seriousness that contrasts with his age.
I nod and head upstairs, knocking on the office door.
'' Come in! '' I hear the boss's voice coming from inside while he is concentrating on his laptop.
''Good evening, boss.'' I greet him, entering the office.
''Axel, what problems have been solved this time?'' He asks, closing his laptop with a sigh.
''Sir, the list is long.'' I reply, feeling the weight of responsibility as I face his serious gaze.
'' Then start. '' He orders, his expression revealing determination.
''First, Mr. Luck sent twenty women here.'' I begin, observing his attentive reaction.
''Why on earth did he do that?'' He asks, his piercing gaze making me swallow.
''They're looking for a new life, so I explained the basics and left them in Diana's care. '' I inform him, receiving a nod of approval.
''Any other questions?'' He asks, his voice still serious.
''At the main nightclub, there was an attempted murder. Stefane Black's ex, determined to get revenge, shot her. Luckily, the shot only hit her shoulder. '' I say, waiting for your reaction.
''I hope that bastard is dead, Axel.'' He speaks coldly, and his determination is palpable.
''Yes, sir. I visited her in the hospital, and she's recovering well. I've given her a period of rest,'' I add, remembering to send her the money.
''Good. Next. '' He demands, and I continue my explanation.
'' I... I delegated to Yenki the task of hiring security guards for the nightclubs, casinos and houses of prostitution.
'' And what went wrong? '' He asks, with an arched eyebrow.
''He hired an unsuitable individual and didn't specify the desired profile. As a result, we ended up with several rapists and pedophiles among those we hired. '' I blurt out, jumping when Mr. Dante slams the table hard.
'' What!?'' he exclaims, his voice filled with indignation.
"However, the situation has been resolved. We've eliminated the unwanted contractors, and I've asked Mr. Tiano for more henchmen. He will ensure that only reliable people are sent to work with us.
'' You've been an excellent choice for this position, Axel. '' He compliments, his dim smile making the moment even more meaningful.
''Thank you, sir. Things are going well. '' I reply, grateful for his recognition.
'' Tell Yenki he's forgiven. But if there's another mistake like that, his life will be in danger,'' he warns sternly.
'' Yes, sir.
'' You may leave, Axel.
'' Excuse me. '' I leave the office, biting my lip as I consider my next course of action.
I decide that there's nothing stopping me from going to her room. Determined, I walk towards her room and knock on the door.
''Who is it?'' I hear her voice on the other side of the door.
''It's me, Axel,'' I reply.
''Come in, Axel,'' she says, and she lets me in.
''I wanted to check on you before I left,'' I say, a little awkwardly.
She looks beautiful in her pajamas. I wanted to kiss her right now.
