Chapter One Hundred and Five
‘Good morning Yorkdare Bay. We’ve just received an exclusive tip from sources close to JenCorp. Last night as markets opened on the Eastern Islands, the market came to a standstill with the crash of JenCorp’s shares. Authorities believe that insider trading and embezzlement of funds are to blame for JenCorp’s sudden death. The shares have plummeted and are currently worth less than JenCorp’s business cards. We’ve been told that the police are investigating a silent partner, Hanson Chadney, who was arrested early this morning.’
Kelley switched the television off and smiled as his phone started pinging. Milana sat next to him, her eyes wide as she turned to look at him.
“Why do you look so happy?”
“Because Hanson Chadney is finally getting exactly what he deserves.”
Milana rose to her knees and straddled Kelley as he rested against the headboard. His hands went to her hips and he pulled her closer to him. “I overheard your conversation with Mason last night.”
“Hmm eavesdropping now, are you?”
Milana smiled as Kelley moved his hips and she could feel his intent, his very prominent intent, gyrating against her. “You should remove the problem from the equation.”
“That might prove harder than you think, Mila.” Kelley’s eyes were closed and a hint of a smile played on his lips.
“There’s something else that’s harder than I thought.”
Kelley laughed and flipped them over, hovering over her. Milana’s legs went around his waist and he pulled her shirt up. Light kisses followed the same path as his hands and Milana’s hands gripped his hair tightly.
Kelley moved lower and pulled her underwear off. Milana’s hips lifted as Kelley lowered his mouth. Milana’s hips moved of their own volition and when Kelley inserted two fingers inside her, her orgasm came crashing down around her.
As Milana tried to control her breathing and slow her heart, Kelley thrusted inside her and she clenched her muscles around him. Her nails dug into his shoulders as he kept thrusting in and out, chasing his own release. She clung to Kelley and it amazed her how he always knew exactly what to do to get her off, whether it was starting slow or thrusting in fast, it was always exactly what she wanted.
Kelley rolled onto his back, his fingers intwining with Milana’s. They lay together, a sheen of sweat covering their bodies. Kelley closed his eyes again as Milana shifted and lay her head on his chest, her fingers trailing up and down his chest.
“Are you biding your time until you can divorce me?”
“We might not have gone into this marriage willingly but things have changed, haven’t they?”
“They have for me, Kelley, it’s just … I’m not sure where I stand with you.”
Kelley’s hand found her hair, his fingers twisting in the strands. “Marriage is for life, Mila. I think with time and patience you might learn to love me. I’ll never do anything to hurt you or place you in harm’s way and I want this to work. I think if we gave it a chance we could be happy together.”
“It takes time for me to trust completely but with you it feels easy to let go. I want to try too.”
Kelley kissed her then, a kiss that told her everything she needed to know. The kiss was passion and tenderness, a touch of love and a lot of want. A kiss that sealed their fate, together. When Kelley looked into her eyes he knew that he was already falling.
A knock on the bedroom door disturbed their blissful peace and Kelley sighed audibly as he stood up and wrapped a sheet around his waist. He opened the bedroom door and looked at Connor who stood there.
“Lewis Blackwell is at the front gate, asking to see you.”
“Of course he is. Show him to the sitting room and don’t offer him coffee. I’ll be down in twenty.”
“Yeah, go wash your ego please.”
Milana laughed loudly from behind him and Connor grinned. Kelley muttered ‘asshole’ under his breath and closed the door. Kelley dropped the sheet at the bathroom door and switched the shower on. He washed quickly and dressed in the dressing room.
“I need to take this meeting but after I’ve dealt with Blackwell I’m all yours for the day.”
“Whatever shall we do with a whole day?”
Kelley smiled. “Well, I still need to find out who Connor’s sleeping with but that can wait.”
“Jeannie.”
Kelley turned to look at Milana. “What?”
“Connor, he’s sleeping with Jeannie.”
“How do you know that?”
Milana smiled. “Kelley, if you took the time to actually look at the way Connor looks at her, you’d know. I told you I’m good at reading people, especially when they think nobody’s looking. In high school I took a micro-expression course and from there I studied everything I could find on the subject.”
“And that’s why you relaxed around me?”
“Yes, when we talked that first night I could see that you weren’t lying to me.”
Kelley stood like that for a few seconds. “Do me a favour, Mila, log into my laptop and watch our meeting on the security cameras. Tell me what you see on Lewis’s face.”
“Okay …”
“Password’s osservatori, no caps.”
Kelley left the bedroom with Milana still sitting on the bed with the sheets around her waist. Him giving her his password was a first step in building trust. There wasn’t anything incriminating on the laptop in the bedroom, hence the password. Osservatori meant watchers and that’s what the laptop was for; it was always logged into the security cameras.
Things had changed from the moment she stepped into the shower with him. It was in that moment that he realized he could have it all with this woman and that he wanted it all.
Thoughts of the vow he'd taken as a teenager and stood by as a young man disappeared as new feelings blossomed and he knew that this time, nobody would get close enough to hurt her. He wouldn't make the same mistakes again, but having her with him, it tasted a little like victory.
