Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Eight

Kelley spent the next few hours catching up on work, yelling over the phone and talking with Arlo about running for mayor. Arlo was apprehensive and he understood it but he also knew it was time for new blood to sit on that seat and Arlo was the perfect choice to run for mayor.
It was a productive few hours and he got more done than he thought he would and before he knew it cars pulled into the driveway. He went downstairs as voices filled the foyer. He took a deep breath and locked eyes with David.
David stormed towards him and pushed him backwards. “This was you, wasn’t it? You got Blain killed! Go to the island, David, everyone will be safe! We’re handling it, David! You motherfucker!”
The raw pain in David's voice had Kelley standing still, knowing that David was going to hit him. He had no plans to stop David, he needed to vent his anger out on someone and that someone was Kelley.
David pulled his arm back and his fist connected with Kelley’s eye socket. His head snapped to the side and Kelley clenched his jaw as he straightened himself. Lee had stepped between him and David and he had a hand on David’s chest.
“Get out of my way, Lee!” Lee shook his head and remained standing in front of David.
“No, Dad! You don’t get to touch Kelley again!” Blair said angrily. “You have no idea what he’s done for this family. Blain getting shot wasn’t his fault. We’re all angry, Kelley too, we’re all hurting.”
“What has he done for this family?” David’s face was red with anger.
“You don’t need to know the details but as your son I’m telling you, Kelley’s not the enemy.”
“He’s right, Blaire. I made the final call, I told Blain to go with Marella. It is my fault,” Kelley said and walked back up the stairs. He’d own it because David needed to blame someone and it might as well be him.
“I’m not staying in this house either, I don’t care what Blaire says. We all know Kelley’s in charge of whatever fucked up operation you’re all into,” David said loudly.
“Which is why I had the guest house prepared for you. I can’t pretend to understand what you’re feeling, David, but I’m no stranger to loss and pain. I am truly sorry that Blain died, he was an amazing young man but I’m also not asking for your forgiveness. Everything I do, every decision I make is for the benefit of this family and Blain knew exactly what he was signing up for when he went on the run with Marella.”
Blain getting himself shot was terrible, but Kelley wasn't going to sugarcoat things for David. They were all adults and Blain had made his choice and that was not Kelley's fault.
“Marella … where is she? I want answers!”
Lee shook his head as he squared up to David once again. “She doesn’t have any answers for you. She doesn’t know who took them. She woke up in a park and made her way here. She didn’t even know what had happened to Blain, and if you think you’re going to talk to her the way you just spoke to Kelley then you and I are going to have a problem.”
“David, please,” Cecile said and he turned to look at her.
“Fine.”
One of the guards led them through the back of the house to show them the guest house and Marley rushed forward first to hug Kelley.
“I’m so glad you’re okay,” she whispered next to his ear.
Mila stood in the back as Jesse hugged Kelley next. Steel stood stoically behind her and his eyes did a sweep of the room every few seconds. Carey was still hugging Mason before she turned towards him and hugged him tightly.
“He’s just hurting right now,” she said.
“I know,” Kelley replied.
Kelley finally had a chance to say hello to Milana ten minutes later and he excused himself a short while after. Mason had an arm around Andrea’s shoulder where she stood next to him. She had healed, but it would still take some time for her to heal completely.
Kelley stood in the shower with his head bowed, his arms straight out and his hands against the tiled wall when Milana opened the shower door and climbed in with him. Her hands started on his hips and trailed over his stomach. His arousal was instant.
“If you keep that downward movement up, you’re going to be in trouble,” Kelley said in a low voice.
“Maybe I want to be in trouble,” Milana said as Kelley turned around and she saw that he was fully erect.
Their mouths met and Kelley picked her up and pressed her back against the wall. She grinded her hips against him and pushed himself inside her to the hilt. Her legs tightened around his waist and he started thrusting into her. He rubbed against her in all the right spots and she clenched her pussy muscles around his cock. It had been too damn long.
Milana’s nails dug into his back and she bit down on his shoulder as her orgasm wracked through her and triggered Kelley’s release as well. Kelley stood holding her up as they caught their breath and he leaned his forehead against hers.
“I missed you.”
“I missed you too, Kelley.”
Kelley lay awake for a long time after Milana had fallen asleep. He still felt restless, wondering if David would ever stop blaming him for Blain’s death. He probably wouldn’t. They’d never really been part of the family but they were still Lee’s family and that made them family to him too.
He’d never know who actually pulled the trigger and he couldn’t ask Marcus that either. That would give his own position away and he didn’t want to give them anything. Kelley suddenly wondered how long it would take for Lee and Blaire’s loyalty to turn into hate. The thought had been swift and had moved through him like a punch to the gut.
