Chapter Ninety-Nine

Kelley looked at the email and read it again. Why was he reaching out after three years? The police investigation had grown cold because there had been no evidence to corroborate Petey Johnson’s version of events.
People had seen Kelley at the nightclub and his phone had pinged from the towers across the street. His car hadn’t left St. John’s City and Kelley knew that it had been closed as accidental, Petey’s license revoked and he was left paralyzed from the waist down.
It had been a good day. Kelley smiled at the memory. Petey wanted to meet, that night in fact, at his house in Yorkdare Bay. The Johnson’s still lived in town and Petey now ran the online division of his father’s marketing company.
Kelley typed a quick reply and hit send. He’d see Petey tonight. In fact, he was intrigued by Petey’s invitation but not dumb enough to think that Petey didn’t have ulterior motives. This week was turning out to be a good one for Kelley.
On Wednesday JenCorp would sink and Hanson Chadney’s link to the disappearing funds would be leaked to the media. Police would dig up his involvement with the company, fraud and embezzlement would eventually come to light and Hanson Chadney would have nobody in his corner.
Kelley left the study and walked to his bedroom. Milana hadn’t really put up a fight in sharing a room with him and they had spent every night talking about anything and everything. She had surprised him when she mentioned the hotel’s restaurant.
She had good ideas and Kelley hoped that that meant she was finally beginning to trust him and that soon she’d let him in completely. He stripped off his clothes and switched the shower on. The steam rose and he closed his eyes as he leaned his head forward as the water cascaded over his head and down his back.
Kelley looked up as that tingling sensation alerted him that he wasn’t alone and he looked at Milana through the shower door. She took her clothes off as Kelley watched and he opened the shower door for her.
“Are you into conserving water now?”
Milana’s hands flattened against his chest as she looked him in the eye. “I want to know what it feels like to really be your wife.”
Kelley didn’t need a second invitation and his mouth crashed down on hers. Their bodies molded against each other and Milana was pushed against the shower wall. Kelley’s hands traveled down her back and lower to the backs of her thighs.
He lifted her and her arms went around his neck. He broke the kiss off and her eyes opened slowly. “Are you sure?”
She nodded her head and Kelley pushed inside her. He stilled and her legs tightened around his waist. They looked each other in the eye as he finally began to move, thrusting in and out. The steam thickened and their breaths came out fast and ragged.
Milana’s muscles tightened and the spasms of her orgasm milked out his and Kelley wrapped his arms around her back as he sank down to his knees with her straddling him. Their hearts hammered together and Kelley kissed Milana again, this time slowly.
“We should get out.”
Kelley lifted his head and looked at her, hair plastered to her skull from the water, her face a little flushed, her mouth partially open. “Just a little longer.”
“The water’s turning cold.”
Kelley chuckled then as he lifted Milana and stood up. He switched the shower off and turned to find Milana holding a towel out to him. She had already wrapped one around herself and Kelley looked at her, really looked at her.
“You’re beautiful.” He hadn’t really meant to say that out loud but now that he had, he was glad.
“Not really.” Milana looked down as she smiled at him.
“To me you are.”
Kelley followed her through to the dressing room where she turned her back on him and let the towel fall to the floor. Kelley watched her as she dressed and he started putting a suit on. He sat down on the stuffed round settee in between the cupboards and grabbed Milana’s wrist, forcing her to look at him.
“Do you believe me?”
“Kelley …”
“Your eyes are more caramel than brown and when the sun hits your hair there are golden streaks in it. Your smile lights up a room and people take notice. You always smell like lilies, a soft fragrance that calms me. You never say anything you haven’t thought about and not once have I heard you say something mean about anyone else. You work hard and you’re always willing to help others, you never demand, you never yell and all that makes you beautiful, Milana.”
Milana’s hand cupped his jaw lightly and her finger traced upwards to his scar. Kelley closed his eyes as her fingers gently stroked over it. “You’re beautiful too, Kelley.”
He pulled her down on his lap and kissed her again, his fingers tangling in her still wet hair. His hands trailed down her back and he pulled her closer to him, letting her straddle him once again. Milana’s hands were in his hair, the back of his neck, his jaw as she kissed him back.
“Can’t you two get a room?”
Milana stiffened as Kelley opened his eyes. “We have a room, you’re intruding in it.”
Connor grinned. “You can have your ego stroked later. Come on.”
Milana laughed as Kelley shook his head. “Your ego? Is that code?”
Connor laughed loudly then and turned back towards them. “She’s a keeper, Kelley. Unhitch your tent, we’ve got work to do.”
Kelley kissed Milana again. “I’ll be back in a few hours, right after I kill Connor.”
Connor laughed from the doorway and rushed out to the bedroom as Kelley’s shoe hit the doorframe. “Asshole.”
“If you hurry back I might be inclined to get rid of that tent for you.” Kelley closed his eyes as Milana laughed and climbed off his lap. He opened his eyes in time to see a pair of socks heading towards his face and he caught them in the air.
“You are so getting rid of the tent tonight.”
“With my mouth?”
Kelley looked at her and Connor cleared his throat from outside the door. Milana blushed and rushed out of the dressing room back into the bathroom. “You’re killing me, Connor, and I hate you.”
“Hate you right back, buddy.”
