Chapter 11 Can't Compare to My Annika

"Mr Ross, let me introduce you; this is my woman Annie." Carl introduced her generously, which made Annie stunned for a moment.
She never expected that the status she once hoped for would be given by a pervert. And the man she had hoped for was playing with his highball glass and didn't even look at her. It seemed that everything happening here had nothing to do with him, so indifferent and ruthless.
Seeing Brandon's lack of interest, Carl quickly lifted up Annie's chin. "Mr. Ross, take a look. Isn't she very similar to your Annika?" He went to talk about projects with the Sterling family today and met Miss Sterling, who looked extremely similar to Annie. After inquiring around, he found out that this newly returned Miss Sterling was Brandon's woman.
He immediately went to Mr. Ross and used the similarity between Annie and Annika's faces, as well as Brandon's relationship with them, as an opportunity to successfully invite him over.
Carl thought since Brandon came, he must use this opportunity to win the project in Western City.
After hearing Carl's words, Brandon slowly raised his cold eyes like looking at strangers and glanced at her from head-to-toe without any emotion: "Can't compare to my Annika."
This sentence was like a knife stabbing into Annie's heart fiercely, causing it to bleed profusely.
"That is nothing compared with Miss Sterling," said Carl contemptuously while grabbing her chin like she was a lowly species: "She is an orphan without power or background, while Miss Sterling is not only The Stering Family's only daughter but also highly educated and intelligent how can she compare?!"
Yes! How could she possibly compare?
In Brandon's eyes, she was just a substitute; how could substitutes ever compare to the real thing?
Annie pursed her lips and said nothing, but her heart was bleeding...
Carl spoke so much to belittle Annie just to flatter Brandon. But it seemed that Brandon didn't even notice him and never gave him a glance while still playing with his wine glass.
It seemed he wasn't interested in this topic at all. Carl wisely stopped talking about it and directly pulled Annie to sit opposite of him.
As soon as they sat down, a man wearing an expensive suit suddenly opened a bottle of wine and handed it over to Annie.
"Miss Hart, right? Can you drink?" She didn't know who this man was and felt hesitant about drinking. If he put something inside, then Carl would play with her however he wanted later on.
While she hesitated, the man suddenly smiled slightly: "Don't worry, I haven't drugged it."
The man's smile was gentle like jade which made Annie feel somewhat relieved. She took the wine glass and took a sip but still dared not swallow it.
Sophia, the woman sitting next to the man, couldn't help sneering when she saw this: "Mr MacDonald, your woman is becoming more low-class by the day! Benjamin kindly poured her some wine, yet she was still guarding against drinking, giving no face at all!"
Benjamin Ross was Brandon's cousin whom Annie had never seen before since following Brandon around until now when she finally met him for the first time here today.
She couldn't help but take another look at him; he looked similar to Brandon but wasn't as cold, instead quite gentle-looking compared to his cousin's demeanour.
"Mr. MacDonald," Sophia continued speaking: "You were able to meet Mr.Ross today, thanks largely due to Benjamin introducing you, yet your woman won't even drink a cup of wine; how will you be able to have fun later?"
