Chapter 44 Brandon in Her Mind

"Annie, what happened to your neck..."

Annie hadn't realized that her neck was covered in hickeys until she saw Fiona's shocked expression.

She quickly covered her neck with her hand and lowered her head in embarrassment.

"I..."

"Did Mr. MacDonald force you?"

The way Mr. MacDonald looked at Annie was like he was looking at prey.

Fiona had wanted to warn Annie about him yesterday, but she was too busy with the wedding and taking care of Joseph's relatives to talk to her.

Now seeing Annie come back like this, she suspected even more that she had been bullied by Mr. MacDonald.

"Annie, tell me the truth. If he really forced you, I'll go fight him!"

Thinking about Annie being forced by a creepy man made Fiona furious. She rolled up her sleeves and wanted to rush into the kitchen with a knife.

Annie quickly stopped her: "Fiona, it wasn't Mr. MacDonald."

Fiona paused for a moment and asked: "Then who was it?"

Annie didn't know how to say it out loud.

Seeing that she hesitated again, Fiona suddenly understood something:

"You've reconciled with Brandon?"

Every time Annie came back from Brandon before this, there were always bruises on her skin.

Fiona thought it must have been done by Brandon since he had always been so cruel towards Annie.

"It wasn't him."

Annie didn't want to lie anymore and told the truth: "I...I slept with another man last night."

Fiona was a little shocked that she would be with someone other than Brandon?

She found it hard to believe but seeing how embarrassed Annie looked made her believe it anyway.

She grabbed Annie's hand nervously and asked: "Who is he? Is he reliable?"

Seeing how worried Fiona looked, Annie gritted her teeth and said: "He's...he's reliable."

Fiona frowned: "Annie, are you hiding something from me?"

She felt that something was off with Annie lately and it made her uneasy.

Annie shook Fiona's arm and said jokingly: "Oh come on, Fiona. My dear sister, don't worry. When I'm ready to get married to him, I'll bring him to meet you. Okay?"

Hearing the words 'get married', Fiona relaxed a little bit.

"You just broke up with Brandon not long ago. How did you find someone so quickly for marriage?"

It didn't seem like Annie's obedient personality to give herself away so quickly either.

"He's just a business partner. You know my job requires me to deal with people like him all the time. I couldn't date when I was with Brandon but now that we've broken up, if there is someone suitable then why not contact them? Don't you want me to get married soon too?"

"I do want you to get married soon..."

"Then what are you worried about?"

Annie interrupted her with a smile.

Fiona worried about Annie for half of her life but seeing her smile again made her feel less anxious.

Annie had always been well-behaved since she was young and wouldn't do anything reckless or dangerous.

After chatting with Annie for a while, Joseph came to pick up Fiona.

They were both on their honeymoon leave so they naturally went to Malaysia together.

Joseph changed their flight schedule until night time which gave Annie some free time before sending them off at the airport later on.

After reminding Fiona and Joseph about safety measures during their trip abroad, Annie waved goodbye as they left.

When she returned home by taxi later on, she went straight into the bathroom and washed herself thoroughly.

It was strange how nauseous she felt after being touched by Carl, but she didn't feel any disgust when it came to Mr. Ye that night.

In fact...while they were doing it, all she could think about was Brandon.

Was it because she missed him so much that she mistook the rapist for Brandon?

Annie felt ashamed of herself. Her body had been taken over by a stranger and yet here she was thinking about Brandon.

She was no longer pure and clean; her body had already been marked deep inside and there would never be any intersection with Brandon again.
