Chapter 43 MacDonald Inc. Collapses Overnight

After reading the news, Annie was stunned in place.

What kind of power is this? It only took one night to bring down the giant of New York.

She suddenly remembered what the masked man said last night, that Carl wouldn't be coming back.

How did he know that Carl wouldn't come back? Did he do it?

If he did, then her previous guess that the masked man was a friend of Carl's would not hold up.

And Carl's friends couldn't have such overwhelming means to destroy MacDonald Inc. overnight.

If it wasn't Carl's friend, then who could this "Night Sir" be?

Annie felt like her head was about to explode.

But fortunately, someone had taken care of Carl and she no longer needed to worry about him anymore.

However, just as she escaped from Carl's grasp last night, she was now being stalked by other perverts!

Annie thought for a moment and decided to go find the hotel manager and retrieve surveillance footage.

The result showed only surveillance footage of Carl entering and leaving her room. All footage related to that man had been deleted.

This made Annie even more convinced that this man was not simple!

Without any surveillance or evidence against him, how could they let him go?

Since the man didn't use Fiona as leverage against her, Annie went boldly to the police station without fear of retaliation from him.

After filing a report with them, she provided them with his phone number, WhatsApp account information and all text messages sent between them.

However,the police informed her that his phone number wasn’t linked with an ID card while they were unable trace his IP address through WhatsApp which made it difficult for them locate him.

Moreover,since their conversation via text message started because she initiated contact, it couldn’t serve as direct evidence even if he impersonated someone else. The police suggested going to the hospital to extract sperm, which would preserve some evidence.

After hearing this, Annie was disappointed but still went to the hospital with a tired body.

After completing all of this, she dragged her exhausted body back home. As soon as she opened the door, she saw Fiona walking towards her anxiously.

"Annie, where did you go? I called you so many times."

Annie picked up her phone and saw that there were many missed calls from Fiona. She had been too preoccupied with watching news and checking surveillance footage at the hotel that she didn't notice any incoming calls.

"I went out for a walk. Maybe it was too noisy in the mall and I didn't hear my phone ringing."

She actually slept too soundly last night and didn’t hear any sounds from her phone. To ease Fiona's worries,she casually explained herself.

Fiona didn't know that Annie hadn't slept at home last night. After hearing Annie's explanation,she breathed a sigh of relief.

"Fiona, weren't you supposed to go on your honeymoon with Joseph today? Why did you come back?"

Fiona and Joseph had planned to go on their honeymoon in Malaysia right after their wedding ceremony. Fiona had never traveled abroad before, and was looking forward to this trip.

However, it seemed like they changed plans since they came back instead of leaving for their honeymoon destination as scheduled

"This morning when we just left our house, I met one of our security guards. He said that a group of people wearing black clothes appeared outside our door yesterday evening. They stood outside without entering for about half an hour. The guard thought it was strange, but he assumed they were relatives or friends visiting us. When he saw us leave today, the guard mentioned it."

"After listening, I felt something wasn’t right. I tried calling you but couldn’t reach you. Then I remembered those weird people who showed up at our wedding yesterday. I got worried about your safety. So I rushed over to find you."

No wonder Fiona didn't go on her honeymoon with Joseph. It turned out that she was worried about Annie.

"I'm sorry, Fiona."

Annie felt a little guilty and quickly explained, "Yesterday I did have some trouble. There was an important contract for Mr. MacDonald but I kept delaying giving it to him which made him angry enough to crash your wedding ceremony, and even sent people to your bridal chamber. He just wanted the contract, but in the end, I finally got my hands on it last night and gave it to him. So he had his men stand outside your house for a while before leaving. Everything is resolved now so he won't come looking for me again."

Annie didn’t tell Fiona about what happened last night because she didn’t want her friend worrying too much.She only told her why Mr.MacDonald showed up at their wedding ceremony.

"I thought yesterday that Mr.MacDonald was threatening you.I never expected this!"

After hearing Annie's explanation,Fiona looked worriedly at Annie from head-to-toe.

"Annie,did he do anything bad to you?"

"No."

Annie shook her head.

But Fiona noticed the hickey on her neck keenly, and her expression froze instantly.
