Chapter 32 Fight for Justice

As they left, the guests in the hall began to point and whisper about Annie as if discussing how she had provoked such people.
Annie didn't care and turned around to see Fiona and Joseph walking towards her.
"Annie, who are those people?" Fiona looked worried. Her intuition told her that those people were not good news.
Annie smiled and patted her hand. "That's the CEO of MacDonald Inc. He came to find me for an important contract document."
She deliberately raised her voice when saying this.
Fiona had a small microphone attached to her wedding dress, so when she leaned in close, her voice naturally transmitted through it.
The guests heard Annie's explanation and started talking again, saying that Fiona's friend was amazing because even the CEO of MacDonald Inc knew them.
Joseph was from a suburb of New York City; he may not have known any big shots personally, but he had undoubtedly heard of the wealthiest person in New York City before.
Annie explained this to dispel everyone's doubts, but Fiona still felt uneasy. She couldn't shake off the feeling that things weren't so simple.
Why did the CEO bring so many people with him if it was just about getting a contract document? His attitude seemed like he came here to cause trouble instead. And why did he keep touching Annie inappropriately?
His actions seemed lewd; it didn't look like he was pursuing Annie but instead forcing or threatening her instead.
The more Fiona thought about it, the more worried she became. Finally, she took off the microphone on her wedding dress and held onto Annie's hand while looking at her with concern written all over her face:
"Annie, if you're ever in danger, please tell me! Even if I risk my life, I will help you fight for justice!"
Annie has always been famous since childhood due to her good looks. Luke used to protect her, so no one dared to approach her.
Now that Luke was gone, Fiona had taken on the responsibility of protecting Annie.
When Annie heard this, she felt warm in her heart, and tears welled up in her eyes. However, she didn't want Fiona to worry even more if she saw the tears, so she quickly replied with a "yes" and pushed Fiona back towards continuing the wedding ceremony.
After exchanging rings and pouring champagne for everyone, the wedding was coming to an end. Watching Fiona smiling while serving drinks at each table alongside Joseph relieved Annie's heart; everything went smoothly without any problems.
The next thing they needed to do was deal with Carl!
Annie sent Fiona and Joseph off in their wedding car before taking a taxi home alone.
She entered her bedroom and opened the closet intending to change out of her bridesmaid dress, when a bank card fell out. It was part of Annie's dowry gift for Fiona, but it seemed like she had secretly put it back into Annie's closet instead.
Annie picked up the bank card and couldn't help but smile slightly. That's just how Fiona is - always giving without expecting anything. Even with Joseph, she never took advantage of him even once! The down payment for their new house came from his family, but she took care of all its decoration costs herself despite not having any ownership rights over it; even though their names weren't on paper together as owners, she still paid off half of its mortgage payments willingly without complaint or regret because that's just who she is – someone who gives selflessly like an older sister figure making people feel warm inside.
Annie clenched the bank card, thinking about how there would be nothing left behind after tonight except maybe some words written down on paper, which wouldn't be enough for Fiona's peace of mind later on.
With these thoughts running through her mind, she sat at her desk and began writing a farewell letter.
