Chapter 45 Mr. Night's Invitation
Annie was too tired to think anymore, so she took a bath and went back to bed.
She slept until the afternoon of the next day, almost three o'clock. It seemed that her symptoms of hypersomnia were getting worse.
She knew that late-stage patients would face worsening conditions, so she didn't pay much attention to it.
For her now, it's just a matter of how long she can hold on.
After all, everyone will die eventually; it's just a matter of sooner or later. There is nothing to be sad about.
She went to the kitchen and made a simple dinner for herself - some millet porridge with vegetables was enough for her.
While drinking porridge, Fiona called her via video chat. They had arrived in Malaysia and were playing by the beach.
The sky there was much bluer than New York's, as was the sea - crystal clear all the way down.
Fiona wore a Bohemian-style long dress and walked on the beach with a smile on her face.
Seeing Fiona looking radiant made Annie happy too.
"Annie, this place is so beautiful! I must bring you here next time!"
"Okay."
Annie sweetly replied before chatting with Fiona about Malaysian cuisine for a while longer until Joseph called Fiona over to take a boat ride.
After reminding them both to stay safe, Annie hung up and wanted to put down her phone and focus on drinking porridge when Mr. Night sent her a WhatsApp message:
"Pacha Nightclub Presidential Suite Come see me."
It goes without saying what this message meant: This dog man wants sex again!
Annie grabbed onto her phone tightly and typed through gritted teeth: "How dare you ask me out again?!"
Mr. Night replied nonchalantly with five words: "I want to be with you."
Annie stared at those five words, her face instantly turning red.
"You've already committed a crime yesterday, and yet you still have the nerve to send me this kind of message!"
After typing that out with trembling hands, she immediately took a screenshot of their conversation.
Although she didn't get any surveillance footage, these harassing messages could also serve as evidence against him.
Moreover, since she had already reported the case to the police, having screenshots would make her evidence more substantial!
However, Mr. Night didn't care about her emotions and sent over an image instead.
When Annie saw that picture, she was completely enraged! He actually took a nude photo of her!
And he did it from such an odd angle that made it look like she was being provocative!
Just when Annie was furious beyond belief, Mr. Night sent another message:
"Come over; otherwise I can't guarantee where this photo will end up."
This is blackmailing her with nude photos! How could this man be even more despicable than Carl?!
Annie gritted her teeth and took screenshots of all his messages before planning on handing them over to the police tomorrow.
But then Mr. Night seemed to know what she was thinking and sent another text:
"It doesn't matter if you report me or not. But don’t forget - You were the one who invited me to your hotel room."
"I invited Carl there; not you! You impersonated him!"
Annie quickly replied while feeling so angry that her face turned red again!
But when she saw his next message pop up on the screen, she trembled all over in shock.
"Who knows whether or not I am Carl?"
He meant he left no evidence behind for impersonating Carl.
Furthermore, surveillance only showed Carl visiting Annie's room without anyone else present.
The police would definitely think that they hadn't reached an agreement and that's why she reported the case.
No wonder the police said that she had invited him instead of being a victim.
It turned out that this man knew she would report to the police, so he erased all evidence...
Annie typed with trembling fingers: "Even if it is like this, your messages can still be used as evidence!!!"
The man replied: "You invited Carl to come to the hotel; you wanted to kill him. Are you sure you want to take such a big risk just for catching me?"
When Annie saw this sentence, she froze in place.
He knew that she wanted to kill Carl and even knew about her drugging his drink!
If she went to the police now, he would become her only witness and accuse her of murder.
Annie thought she could catch this person but didn't expect him to block all her escape routes.
