Jason POV

Distorted voices echoed through my ears and all I could see was a blur. I heard what the doctor said.

"I'm sorry for your loss."

It is my tears that keep my soul alive in the furnace of this pain. They cannot extinguish what has been, yet only carry me forward until a time comes when that searing pain is distant enough to forget more than remembering, and maybe one day erase itself from my brain.

Jessica was screaming her lungs out to the point the security had to escort her out of the hospital.

It felt like I was revisiting my past again, with my dad passing away and feeling that heavy pain on my chest when I heard that he was gone.

And now my own grandmother is gone.

The tears burst forth like water from a dam, spilling down my face. I feel the muscles of my chin tremble like a small child and I look toward the window as if the light could soothe me.

I felt Violet's hand touching mine gently. She whispered ''Let's go home.'' My eyes were red from crying a lot; she wipes my tears away and looks at me, waiting for an answer.

''Okay,'' I hoarse.

We both got out of the room where Nonna was and met up with Cameron and Aubree outside.

''Jesscia left with Caesar,'' Cameron said in a gloomed tone. ''Aye man, I'm sorry for your loss. Truly. If you need anything I'm here for you, okay?''

''Thanks,'' I hoarse again. Aubree came over to me and gave me a light hug, she whispered ''I'm sorry and took a step back holding Cameron's hand again.

''We should go, we will take to you later,'' Violet said.

''Okay, see you guys later,'' Aubree replied.

''Yeah, see you,'' I said.

Violet POV

We arrived back home late at night after getting the horrific news that Nonna past away. Jason was in the living room laying down on the couch and watching some t.v.

I came over to him with a small plate of fried rice and chicken and sat down while watching whatever he was watching.

It was quite from the both of us. Neither of us said a word for a good twenty minutes. I blurted out and said ''What are your plans tomorrow?''

''Work,'' he said in a mono-syllable tone.

''I was thinking maybe we can go and see Jessica, you know because--''

''--I really don't feel like doing that,'' He shot back.

''Jason I'm trying to just---''

''My grandmother just died Violet, I really don't want to do anything.''

''I'm sorry I was trying to help,'' I said. My eyes drip with tears. Fuck these hormones, I swear...

''I want to be alone, okay? It has nothing to deal with you, I need some air.'' He got up from the couch and went over to the stairs, stomping his way up to our room.

I heaved a deep sigh and placed both of my hands on my face, feeling frustrated with Jason's attitude. It's understandable, to say the least, that he lost his grandmother. But, he's being utterly rude, the rude Jason that I remembered since the beginning of time.

Losing someone can be a pain and it feels like your whole worlds stop. In this case, Jason's world stopped because of losing Nonna.

He talked so much of her how she raised Jessica and him when his father died. How Nonna spoils him, gives him all the love he needs at such a young age.

But all of that is gone with a blink of an eye, and now it's nothing but the pain in him. I feel so bad, I don't know what else do to but to pray and hope for the better.

After watching movies back to back, I head back upstairs and took a quick shower before going to bed. As I placed my nightgown on, I went to the side of my bed and closed the lights.

Jason's back was against mine and neither of us said goodnight. I looked up and towered over his head to see if he was awake but his eyes were shut and I knew he was faking it, hence his eyes were twitching.

I sighed again and went back to the side of my bed and went to sleep.

---

The next morning Jason's staff were in the kitchen, huddling around in a small circle as I was walking down the stairs for the morning breakfast.

''Good morning,'' I said.

''Morning,'' they all said back.

''Where's Jason?''

''Violet. We honestly don't know where he is. He's usually the one who gives us orders until he comes back from work,'' said one of the chefs.

I nodded and gulped down my throat anxiously, coming up with an idea of how to give the staff an order.

''Okay, well how about this, chefs you guys can cook for the breakfast and lunch meals and for dinner I'll just order some Chinese. Gardeners, you all can do the water routine, don't worry about the sunflower pots you can do that another time. Maids, I only want you guys to clean the gym since it's getting piled, okay?''

''Yeah, sure, okay,'' they all replied. I sighed and snaps my fingers ''Okay,'' they all broke down with laughter and proceed with their duty.

I took a step back and look to my right and saw Jason walking in, wobbling his legs to the stairs.

''Jason?'' I questioned.

He placed his hoodie over his head and ignored me, walking up the stairs. I arched my brows and followed him to the room.

''Jason,'' I chided.

He turned around and said ''What?'' in his hoarse voice.

I took a step closer and tip-toed to his face, unraveled his hoodie and jumped in shock to see his face. It was bloody red, with a couple of scratches on his face. And that smell, that horrendous smell caused me to back away from him, feeling scared and not wanting to be near him.

''Have you been drinking?'' I asked.

''No.''

''Jason, Answer me, Have you been drinking?'' He refused to look away, even as his lips trembled and his shoulders heaved with emotion, unwilling to back down.

His dark lashes brimmed heavy with tears; his hands clenched into shaking fists, in a desperate battle against the grief.

A lone tear traced down his cheek, and just like that, the floodgates opened.

''Jason,'' I whispered.

''Yes, I've been drinking,'' he whispered back.
