Nineteen
OREL POV
Gwenn matched into the tent with anger written all over her face. “What’s wrong?” Elison asked getting tensed at the fact that’s she was angry. I was tensed too, no matter how angry Gwenn makes me with her childish attitude, it doesn’t change the fact that I am used to always protecting her and keeping her happy.
“Your wife doesn’t know about Warriors bonding with their blade. And I would not be surprised if she picked that sword that you showed me was hers because she is vain. She and the sword are not in accordance at all. She nearly split her skull open with her own sword.” Gwenn ranted as me and Elison settled in with the others as we waited for her to steam down. You do not interrupt her while she was in a mood, she might attack you just to pour her frustration out on you.
“How can she be married to you for more than a week and have not noticed that you and your sword are never apart…”
“Probably because his tent is like a storehouse for weapons and she had not noticed that he is always with one particular sword.” Elison offered but quickly clam his mouth shut when Gwenn glared at him.
“And she tried using the same trick on me twice, she was lucky that she had reminded me that you will like her to be uninjured if not I would have given her a sound lashing for that mistake only.” Gwenn said as she breathed heavily after complaining.
“And what is wrong with the sword.” I asked her as she took Elison goblet and drank all the contents down with one gulp.
“It is too heavy for her to keep her balance with and it fancy too, she needs something plain… like her.” Gwenn snorted.
I was sure that there was an insult mixed with what she just said but I didn’t want to call her out on it, so I ignored. “Will she be able to use the sword with time?”
“Yes but for fighting and training she needs something to agree with her and that sword should not be anywhere near her as she is not yet ready for it.” Gwenn replied as I nodded. “Why are you so concerned about the sword anyway?” Gwenn asked with her curiosity shining brightly through her. She never could stop herself from listening to things which doesn’t concern her.
“Because I got it for her, she was never interested in the sword.” I said simply as her eyes bulged out when she realized that she had indirectly insulted me.
“I am sorry?” Gwenn said in a tone as if she was unsure with herself.
“Accepted.” I said with a nod as she breathed a sigh of relieve.
“Did she also ask anything more?” I said confused, Themis would have been able to foresee this and pick out something for herself.
Gwenn rolled her eyes at my statement. “She said something about a double sword which is insane since I know that you would not waste money that way. There is no way that your wife has a talent with double swords.”
“She will shock you with the things that she can do that you never thought that she could do.” Elison said as I turned to glare at him. Until Gwenn anger with Themis is subdue, I don’t think that she should know about Themis special gifts yet.
“Still, I doubt she can use double swords.” Gwenn said as I shook my head at her. Her anger was clouding her judgement of Themis, she more than anybody else knows that everybody have hidden potential when it comes to fighting.
“Well, when I give her the pair she wanted so badly and she can wield it, I will like to know what you think then.” I said as Gwenn mouth dropped open.
“You have to be kidding me, why will you get her something like that even when you are aware of how dangerous it is and also of the fact that she is a novice when it comes to fighting.” Gwenn said as I shook my head at her, she really is supposed to know better.
“You know better than to arrive at conclusions.” I tell her.
“You know better than for you to get married to a complete stranger.” She quips back.
“Okay, you welcome to this councils tent has been overstayed get out.” I jerked my head towards the tent flap.
“This is not fair, I should be here, and I am among the council.” Gwenn complains as Elison raised an eyebrow.
“Throwing a tantrum?” Elison asked as Gwenn growls at him.
“Shut up” Gwenn said
“Make me.” Elison said to rile her up.
“Both of you keep quiet, you are giving me a headache, Gwenn you are being punished. You are aware of that fact so when I do tell you to get out, you should and Elison, stop antagonizing her. One day you will bit off more than you can chew and she will beat you so bad.” I said as Gwenn smiled at Elison.
“She can try but I will be ready for her, she is nothing more than a harmless kitten.” Elison said as Gwenn eyes ticked but she quickly turned round and left the tent before she would jump on Elison and beat him so bad.
“Stop making her so angry.” I admonished Elison who grinned at me.
“She enjoys it just as much as I do, keeps her on her toes.” Elison replied as I shook my head.
“You are playing with fire.” I tell Elison who grin widens. He knows and he enjoys what he does. Most times I wonder if he had any sense of preservation. Gwenn will probably string him upside down and beat him up just for calling her a kitten.
