Twenty Nine
At Dawn, we left the camp with few people watching us go. The few people were mainly the commanders, I petted Tyra flank and avoided the gust of air that Stormpacer breathed my way. That horse was trying my patience and he is aware of it. It is like our own special game, just as I started to believe in the good of that horse when he helped me out on the first day at the camp.
“The horse is trying my patience.” I tell my husband who was watching me with his eyes lazy yet alert eyes.
“Hmm.” Was all he replied with and when I growled at his lack of an answer, he grinned at me.
“Is that all you are going to say.”
“Yes, I know better than to get in between you and Stormpacer bonding.” Orel said as he advanced towards me, I knew that he was coming to help me up my horse so that our journey could start, we have wasted enough time with dallying about.
“Bonding.” I repeated shocked. Stormpacer was bonding with me, I must have been wearing a funny look on my face because Orel laugh and when I opened my mouth to ask him what was funny, I was treated to a tail of horse hair in my face.
“Ugh, that is it. I give up. Me and the demon will never be friends” I said as I glared at Stormpacer who walked leisurely as if he didn’t do anything in the past couple of minutes. I heard Orel chuckle just as he lifted me to my horse back.
“If you two have finish bonding, we need to get on the road.” Gwenn scowls at us as she kicked her horse into a trot as Orel jumped on Storm pacer back with a smooth maneuver.
“Show sport.” I mutters as Orel sent me a grin as he took his place by my side as we trotted behind Gwenn and Dyane who looked more better on horse this time than she did when we were arriving at the camp.
“I am serious, we need to be in the Rockton by nightfall.” Gwenn cuts Orel short in his reply as Orel let out his breathe.
“Where is Rockton?” Dyane asks.
Gwenn groaned but it was Orel who answered Dyane question. “Rockton is a village that is close to our border. Very close to the village is a forest which act as a border between Morfall and Dar. We will pass through the village but stay close to Dar borders as we go around before we can reach Brookston.”
“This are things that you should know, what if we got separated. How will you find your way back to the capital?” Gwenn complains.
“Need I remind you that the tribes were to stay close to their given lands and any place outside their lands will make them a slave? Dyane and Themis have only seen the capital.” Orel reminded Gwenn who sighed.
“We should have taught them about the allies and towns and more about the places in Dar.”
“There was no time. We were all busy.” I said trying to placate Gwenn.
“Yes, you were. If you spent half the time you spent with Orel inside you, studying our maps and all, you would not have this problem.” Gwenn gripes as my eyes narrow at her.
“Sounds like you are jealous. If you spend half the time, you spend running your mouth to allow someone be in you, you will be in a better deposition.” I said as Orel tried to muffle his laughter at my words. Gwenn cheeks turned red as she insulted me with passion, I could not help myself but add. “And if you show someone half the passion you use for your insults on me, that you care for that person. You will be married now.”
“Drop dead.” Gwenn yells at me as she kicked her horse into a full gallop running away from me as Orel and Dyane could not keep their laughter in, I glance round to see that the rest of our guards were straining not to join my husband and my companion.
“You two are fun to watch.” Dyane said as she cleaned some tears which dropped from her eyes, during that process she held her reins with one hand.
“You have really improved in horse riding.” I commented as her cheeks went red.
“Yes, Boan gave me lessons” she murmured as I smiled.
“Really.” I added but her face went red, I will ask her more about her lessons but I don’t want to do that, she might either lose control of her horse of run off like Gwenn did.
“Is Gwenn going to be okay alone?” Dyane asked changing the topic and not even being subtle about it.
“Yes, she will be. She knows when to stop” Orel replied.
“Still, she is alone would not bandits try to attack her when they chance upon her.” Dyane added as me and Orel snorted at that.
“They try anything of that sort and they will regret it for the rest of their lives.” I tell Dyane.
“That is if they survived.” Orel added which reminded me that Gwenn was just as bloodthirsty as him and although they try to be civil, they would not fold their hands and watch when they or what they hold dear are threatened. They fight back. If Gwenn didn’t kill those who attacked her, Orel will hunt them down to finish the job.
