Twenty four

OREL POV

This is all my fault, there is no way I could deny this, my future with I was planning with Themis might as well be a mirage because I used my hands to crumble everything that I was building well before. Why didn’t I stay behind yesterday as I beg for her to forgive me not even to understand where I am coming from? Gwenn is like my younger sister but that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t act jealous sometimes, I knew that I didn’t punish her when she played her joke on Themis and I can just imagine how these things were placing in Themis mind, I wish she could tell me all her worries on this issue so that I would lay them to rest.

I snorted at that thought. Themis is still too angry to be worried about issues concerning me and Gwenn, I am sure that her only issues right now is to make us suffer in pain or make me suffer in pain while she kills Gwenn, who knew that she had that king of rage in her. This just proofs that she is meant to be mine if I mistakenly say something like this in her presence she might try to run me with her sword.

Her eyes were burning silver, I wish I knew what that meant but I didn’t, the best I can do is get that knowledge from Admon which means I have to wait for months.
It is too sensitive for me to send a messenger to him. I can share my thoughts with Elison and hear his opinions on the issue.

I entered Elison tent for the second time in two days only to meet Gwenn there. “What are you doing here?” I asked her.

“To beg Elison to plead on my behalf to your wife, you?” Gwenn asked me as I shrugged and started to take off my boots.

“To sleep here, she chased me out of our tent.” I asked as Elison chuckles.

“You two are in big trouble and I would not get involved, not when she is out seeking for blood.” Elison said as Gwenn started to plead with him.

“Gwenn, I think you should leave.” I said quietly as Gwenn turned to look at me.

“Why.” She asked wrinkling her forehead, an expression, I always thought was cute on her but now, it just reminds me of Themis angry face.

“Because, I don’t want to be anywhere close to you. It would be pushing Themis too far.” I said.

“So, you are going to make decisions based on her wishes now.” Gwen asked in disbelief as I nodded.

“You made this happen, you were the one who insulted her and played your games around her.”

“It was meant to be funny.” Gwenn defended

“No, it made you look like the spiteful lover, I have to ask you Gwenn. Were you feeling spiteful when you saw her? We all protected you and see how Themis is reacting now, she has every right to be offended with you two. And me for not informing her.” Elison said in a serious tone, which was kind of rare for Elison when he is around us.

“I am sorry okay.” Gwenn started but Elison shook his head.

“You are telling the wrong people. Apologize to Themis, she is the one you need to apologize to.” Elison as Gwenn face went red.

“Last time, I tried to do that, you saw what happened.”

“And how did Themis best you” I asked curious.

“The force of her sword was unexpected just like her fighting. She was like a possessed being or someone who is used to fighting.” Gwenn explained. “I better leave before you get in trouble with her.” She said with a grimace as she stood to leave.

When she was gone, I turned my gaze to Elison. “Her eyes glowed bright.” I said as a conversation opener.

“Whose eyes?” Elison asked

“Who else… Themis of course.” I replied as Elison recoils

“Her eyes were white?”

“Yes they were, I was there, and I saw it all happen. She was angry and had little care for how she annoyed me at that moment.” I explained as Elison still looked confused. I didn’t blame him after all, it is hard to believe that happened when I watched it happen, it must be impossible for him to believe.

“So what are you going to do now?” Elison asked after being quiet for a while.

“What can I do other than pray that she will calm down and forgive soon so that I can return back to my bed without her being stiff anytime I touched her?” I said with a sigh as I collapsed on his bed tired, I miss my bed and although Elison bed is one of the most comfortable beds in my army since him spare no money in making his tent to be well furbished.

“I mean regarding her eyes being white.” Elison corrected as I snorted.

“What can I do, I don’t want her to be burnt on a pyre because of she is being mistaken for a witch. There is practically nothing that I can do expect try to get our relationship back in tracks.”

Elison nodded his head. “This must mean additional gifts or something, why were her eyes white.”

“How am I supposed to know, I suspect it was because she was furious, so furious that her body had to show more than the regular signs of anger.”

“I wondered what would have happened if you had continued to upset her.” Elison mused as I glare at him.

“You wanted me to remain there and continue to provoke her when I value my life.”

“She would not have hurt you, she is in love with you.” Elison waved with his hands as I sat up quickly to look at him to ascertain if he was serious about what he was saying, he was. Even though his tone was still carefree. There was no hint of mischief in his eyes, that was how we knew when Elison was joking or not.

“Are you certain?” I asked him as his brows farrowed.

“Yes, she loves you, you should be aware of that fact now especially after the way she attacked Gwenn and was hysterical afterwards.” Elison explained as I nodded with a smile on my face. What I wanted to happen have happened although it made me more uncomfortable than before since it meant that Themis anger was not going anywhere soon.

“It doesn’t matter now does it, she is angry with me, I have to be in good terms with her before we can decide to acknowledge our union is one everlasting one and that we can bear children.” I said as Elison shook his head.

“I don’t know why you are so concerned about getting children, even more than a woman.” Elison said as I shook my head.

“I want my own family, I want my own generation, and I don’t want to call that excuse for a man, my only blood relative. I don’t want him to inherit my possessions. I don’t want to keep hearing, father of the warlord and that will stop only if there is son of the warlord.” I explained in a bitter tone that Elison was familiar with, a tone that he no longer think is weird especially when I am talking about my father.

“You could just kill him.” Elison offers as I shook my head.

“He might be a poor excuse of a father that sells his child into a marriage but no. you know that I cannot kill him in cold blood, besides all it will is leave me with no one who is a blood relative and just postpone the inevitable so I need to stop putting off having heirs.” I said as Elison nodded.

“I am assuming that you plan on this after the war.”

I frowned. The thought of having children before the war was not in my mind, it would make Themis to be sick and unable to defend herself which is not something that I want to happen besides, I want the empire to be as safe as possible for my child.”

“Okay.” Elison nodded with a yawn. “Let’s try to get some sleep in so that we can having an early start tomorrow, we still need to plan the distribution of the army to defend the borders of the empire, and it is not as if we can ask Themis to help us with that can we?”

I nodded as I laid my head down to sleep as Elison grumbled about having to sleep on the edge of his bed since he is used to sleeping on the center and he very much could not since I was there.

Outside the tent, Gwenn left her hidden position by the tent where she had stayed listening to the words of her almost brothers, she doesn’t blame them from excluding her from the conversation after all she was the one who made Themis cry the first day she moved around the camp and again today, she really didn’t mean to.. Well Elison was right, she meant to make Themis uncomfortable that first day but today was all on the warlord. Gwenn make her way to her own tent as she wondered how she could apologize to Themis without her getting injured or worst, making whatever gifts that Themis have to react. She believed that Orel will not get married to someone dangerous and harmful to his army. If such marriage occurs, Orel will remove all danger to his army through any means necessary, that didn’t mean that she wants to find out what is Themis gift all on her own without Orel there to hold back his wife from killing her, she knew she could not be seen around Orel as of now because that might just push Themis out of the edge and she didn’t want anything of that sort happening.
