Forty four
THEMIS POV
I don’t know what possessed me to tell him that I loved him. He was being all caring and confusing me with his words and actions which was surprising because he didn’t even know he was doing anything. I told him that I loved him because his actions and words proved to me that he does but he didn’t say those words back to me, I was hurt when he refused to say them but then I grew determined. He loves me, I know that he does, something was holding him back, he had a barrier that is blocking him from saying the words and I will hear those words, I refuse to settle for anything less than that.
We had to sleep in a tent today, it was not safe for me back within the village and Orel refuse to have me anywhere that is remotely going to be dangerous to me. After we laid down to sleep, me cuddling into my husband big body and him holding me close, we drifted off to sleep only for a vision to start but it was different. When visions happens to me before, I usually see everything play out before me like I am watching a play from the sidelines, this was the first time I was tossed into the body of one of the characters which was Arius in this case. He was injured and running through his castles and he was being chased by his own men, they saw him as expendable. I seeing things from his view gave me the advantage of being able to tell what was going on in his head. He was being attacked because his people thought that he forced himself on Gwenn so he can keep his throne, if he dies under unforeseen circumstances, they will just strike a new deal with the Dar and there was no need for them to have a foreign queen who will not understand their traditions.
“There you are.” My brother said advancing towards me with a grin on his face will showed how evil he was.
“You cannot kill me, I am the rightful heir.” I wheezed out, breathing was becoming difficult.
“Yes I can, with you dead, I command all. Besides I also need to finish father off, maybe you two will see each other in the other life.” My brother said raising his sword.
“You will never get away with this. Why are you doing this?” I stated slurring my words, I should have tried avoiding the hit entirely, and I didn’t know what poison they must have used for me.
“I will brother and as for your other question. I am meant to be king and to conquer all lands. I need to remove those who stands in my way first.” With that he plunged the sword into my stomach.
I screamed as I woke up, struggling with the person who held me as tears ran down from my face, I was still caught in the nightmare that just happened.
“I have you.” My husband deep voice keeps murmuring over and over again, trying to calm me down.
“I was dying.” I cried, trying to make him understand the horror which I just passed through.
Orel body went taunt as he whispered in a deadly voice. “The only way for that to happen to you is that I am already dead.”
“Not, you are not getting what I am trying to say, I am not explaining it well. I was in Arius head and I was dying.” I tried as Orel looked at me, no longer restraining me now that I was explaining everything a little better and less hysterical too.
“Arius is dead?” Orel asks me.
“Not yet but he is in danger.” I corrected.
“What happened, explain everything to me.” Orel orders.
“Can you get Gwenn and Elison here, I don’t want to say everything twice.” I shivered still feeling dizzy from the vision. Never had my vision affected me this way before.
Orel nodded as he stood up from the bed and put on his trousers then he tossed my night gown to me from where he dropped it hours before as he undressed me. He stepped out for a while but it wasn’t long before he returned back to the tent with Elison and Gwenn both rubbing sleep from their eyes and managing to look alert, even Gwenn was gripping a dagger tightly in one of her hands.
When they settled down close to me and Orel took his place beside me, I began explaining what I witnessed or experienced and when I was done, a carefully placed mask was on Gwenn face.
“What will you do Gwenn?” Elison asked after spitting out multiple insults.
“I will make the journey to Northshore where I will clearly state that if anything happen to my husband, they will face my wrath and that of the Dar Empire, when he got married to me. He inherited my titles too and that make him a very important person to the Dariths.” Gwenn said in such a cold voice that I immediately went wary.
Orel nodded as he studied Gwenn “We will need their support and we cannot afford to be without you in this war.”
“I will be back as soon as I can and trust me when I say will be back with their support.” Gwenn replied.
“I would have loved to follow you…” Elison started.
“Don’t, you are needed here. Besides I can reign down my wrath on Northshore council all by myself.” Gwenn stated. “How soon should I leave?”
“As soon as possible.” I replied. “And I thought that you hated him.” I asked her, I was seriously think that I will have to result to begging for her to agree to go.
“Yes, I do hate him but he is mine to do whatever I want with. And I don’t share my playthings or neither do I allow others to kill them without my permission.” Gwenn smiled at me when I blanched at her answer. I certainly didn’t know what was I expecting but it certainly was not this all confessions of love or lust for her husband but this one scared me less than if she had confessed of feelings, this was more like her style and he is hers after all just like she is his, she might not agree now but she will sometime in the future, Gwenn falling for her husband will be a delight to watch.
